NU, great to see you've plucked up the courage to join usSmile And Envy at 70's maxi dress!

Blackduck · 23/01/2014 18:52

Hi NJu - welcome.....
We have bought dining and living room lights - how long before they make it on to the wall/ceiling?

Stropps good news on roof/chimney...

NUFC69 · 23/01/2014 19:18

Nice to speak to you all - I feel I know you already. I have at least two 70s maxi dresses in the part of the wardrobe where I go rarely ( and a lovely aubergine coloured more formal dress from my 20s) which will never see the light of day again. Is anyone else like me - if I loved something and it reminds me of happy times I can't bear to get rid of it?

DD is currently negotiating with her insurance company over the damage the scaffolders did to her lawn when they dismantled it after her roof repairs.

Right. I've made a decision and bought the Didriksons http://www.didriksons.com/collection.asp?sizeId=2 in navy. It was £125, reduced from £250, so a bargain.

I've had one too many chilly school runs. Now watch the mildest winter on record come to pass...

bigTillyMint · 23/01/2014 20:36

BD, I need to get new lights/shades for our sitting rooms...

Should be working so just dropping in to join the chorus of approval for necessary meltdowns and say hello to NUF, plus BTM - hope this wk going ok for your DD. Waved mine back up North on Monday, was really weird to think that that is how it is now.

QueenQueenie · 23/01/2014 21:55

Herbs, your link takes me to this Winsconsin's largest wedding center WTF??
On the other hand parka sounds lovely! As my very camp friend always says "A girl can't go wrong in navy" so good choice.
Hi there NUF. Hang around, we're all very welcoming!

Bizarre link fail. Those interested may have to google didriksons Edith. Though now of course I feel I should have got the Stella.

No weddings in the offing, let alone in Wisconsin. Bit far.

Stropperella · 23/01/2014 22:31

Oh Herbs, that's a shame - I can just see your ds in a page boy outfit involving a cowboy hat. Grin

CointreauVersial · 23/01/2014 23:10

NUFC - Hello! You asked about the Woolovers Moss Stitch Jumper...... It is medium warm; the knit isn't thick, but it is quite dense. If you don't wear something underneath it is a tad draughty, as the hem is quite "boxy" and the neck is wide. But it is lovely quality, proper wool.

Rudy - yes, I have booked a doctor's appointment, for Monday.

Strops - there was clearly something in the air last night; both of us raging at useless husbands.

I think I might be suffering from a little PMT, even though there hasn't been any "M" since Mega-Period in June/July. I have been very stroppy recently. And I am all bloated. Angry Bleurgh.

DS had GCSE Options evening this evening. Decisions, decisions......

addle · 23/01/2014 23:29

Crepeys, was one of you talking about '& other stories' the other night? They seem to have a v good online sale and some interesting (and some odd) stuff...?

herbaceous · 23/01/2014 23:39

Was this what you had in mind, Stropps?

Ah yes, you do need something underneath. But then, like Adrian Mole, I always wear a vest. (From around October anyway.)

Just had a call from my cousin - my uncle has just died. Going to go and spend the day with her tomorrow. If I can't do anything practical to help, at least I can be there for her. Do any of you know anyone nice in south London or thereabouts who would like two lovely tabby cats? Sad I think they are young - about three? They are brother and sister. It would be nice if they didn't have to go into rescue. My cousin can't have them as she already has two of her own, and two dogs.

motherinferior · 24/01/2014 08:51

Oh my love. I am so sorry.

I would love the tabbies but we already have three cats and my fellow-inhabitants point out this is as many as we can have before becoming Mad Cat People. Will ask around.

MrsSSad

Rudy, what did you get?

Stropperella · 24/01/2014 11:10

Herbs, yup, something like that. Grin

MrsS, I'm really sorry to hear about your uncle.

Blackduck · 24/01/2014 11:37

MrsS sorry to hear about your uncle.

Am loving the FB photos BTW!

NUFC69 · 24/01/2014 12:47

Thank you for the further welcomes. And also to CV for the information about the Woolover jumper - I think I will defer buying until I have been out with my DD this afternoon as we are going near a TKMax, but I am definitely tempted. It's very cold here today, just 1.5 degrees C when I went out this morning and I really mustn't leave the heating on all day - although that is my default position at this time of the year.

So sorry to hear about your uncle Mrs. S. I would have loved to have had the cats, but a) our elderly resident moggy would probably have a heart attack if we brought in more furry friends, and b) I am a long way from London and I have very vivid memories of when we moved here from Berkshire 30 odd years ago - our then cat miaowed all the way (shudder).

I have spent the morning painting both sides of the door between the kitchen and utility room - DH will not be pleased when he sees the little spots of paint on the floor; however, if he goes out cycling for the day he has to grin and bear it.

bigTillyMint · 24/01/2014 13:14

Addle, we have survived exam week!Smile

DD has been amazingly calm and even upbeat at times, but to give you an idea of the pressure DD puts herself under, she came home last night saying she had flopped chemistry. A couple of hours later I got an email from her lovely science teacher saying that she had done extremely well in both chemistry and physics.
