Hi,

I was thinking the other day about how important scent is in a product. I particularly hate the smell of palmers but I use it anyway because it really helps my scaly legs. Xmas Blush

What products do you hate the smell of?

Almost forgot - have you had a sniff of the boaksome Elemis perfume? They do a delightful duo on QVC - tis rankorama. The day one has a top note of Olbas oil which dries down to a heady two day old curry, complimented by my husband's left arm pit ( always smellier than the right). The sensual one reminds me of my aunt's foul breath mixed with parma violets. Grim.

Be curly by Aveda. I had to chuck in the bin because it smelt so nasty.

HyvaPaiva · 30/12/2013 16:02

Dry-Heave Central:

Cacharel L'Eau d'Eden (the worst smell imaginable to me)
Elizabeth Arden Red Door
Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream
Veet
T-Gel shampoo
Vaseline deodorant
Philosophy Cinnamon Buns

DuchessFanny · 30/12/2013 16:03

Cocoa butter makes me want to tear my nose off of my face - yuck !!

Margene · 30/12/2013 16:03

Flexitol - smells like a nursing home.

CuntyBunty · 30/12/2013 16:08

Oh no! I have the Mitcham pink deodorant. It's way better than the smell on my pits when they are sweaty.

Anything toiletry or perfume based with the dreaded vanilla in it. Ditto sweet smelling fruity scents turn me off too, as does the smell of Elemis products.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 30/12/2013 16:13

It really annoys me that so many cosmetics are scented unnecessarily. Hair products, deodorants, shaving creams, none of it needs fragrance. Even if you like them, they clash and surely defeat the object of wearing perfume.

FizzyFeet · 30/12/2013 16:32

Boots No7 mascara - smells of fishy glue.

Jean Paul Gaultier perfume - smells of my late teenage years and now makes me feel sick and headachey Smile

Squidwardtenticles · 30/12/2013 16:33

Pumpkin pie candles! Smells like warmed up bath fart.

lurkingaround · 30/12/2013 16:42

I don't like the smell of most products, since my pregnancies (years ago). Heave. Still can't stick smelly stuff. And now i think an added scent is unnecessary. I mostly use unscented. Av?ne, La Roche Posay, E45, elave, etc.
I don't mind household cleaning products.

lurkingaround · 30/12/2013 16:43

Oh I see WhoKnowsWhere says the same. I agree totally, added scent is completely unnecessary.

nomorecrumbs · 30/12/2013 16:45

Simple range. I don't think it's even meant to have a fragrance but it always made me boak as a teenager.

nomorecrumbs · 30/12/2013 16:47

Oh yes and Clarins Eau Dynamatise whatever it is...it's not perfume!! It smells rank even just in the bottle.

PuppyMonkey · 30/12/2013 16:47

Cinnamon
The perfume Poison
Scampi flavoured NikNaks

pootlebug · 30/12/2013 16:48

Ecover laundry liquid. It's rank....like a kind of stale old-lady-perfume smell. Would never use it but sometimes people have borrowed things and washed them in it before returning and they just go straight back in the wash again.

AlaskaNebraska · 30/12/2013 16:51

Eau D is lovely. Classic cologne

nomorecrumbs · 30/12/2013 16:55

Smells like it's been left to pickle to me :( but I don't fancy the classic smells very much. It's strange because I love essential oils and I heard this has essential oil smells in it.

DreamToSleep · 30/12/2013 17:05

Oh dear, I actually quite like Angel..only used it sparingly though not full on doused myself in it.

You will be pleased to know I ran out of it a long time ago Smile

AsBrightAsAJewel · 30/12/2013 17:06

"Ecover laundry liquid. It's rank....like a kind of stale old-lady-perfume smell" - That's why my house has started smelling like my elderly parents' house pootlebug! I started using it just before Christmas.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/12/2013 17:09

Angel smells disgusting.

Hate the smell of Palmers stuff and Soap and Glory stuff (though I do rate their make up).

Hate the smell of This Works leg oil - to the point where it makes me heave.

But the worst, by a long long way, is Crabtree and Evelyn La Source hand cream, which smells of decaying vegetables.

SparkleSoiree · 30/12/2013 17:10

Lush - way too overpowering, gives me a headache.

SoldeInvierno · 30/12/2013 17:46

Any product by Aveda.

UriGeller · 30/12/2013 17:54

Angel is actually poisonous! It contains coumarin (as do a lot of heady perfumes) which is thought to cause liver damage. Don't spray it while your mouth is open, or near children.

Hawthorn flowers smell like death to me. Really sickly rotten.

alltoomuchrightnow · 30/12/2013 18:01

stuff with a lot of hemp in. Great for skin but smells of rotting brussel sprouts.

Aquelven · 30/12/2013 18:23

Lancôme & L'Oreal lipsticks make me feel sick.

Most modern perfumes smell like toilet cleaner or airfreshener.
