I couldn't see that anyone else had started a new thread, after Stropps carelessly finished the old one without starting a new one, so here you are. Xmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Grin

QQ - this happened to me once. I think I inadvertently altered my MN settings. If I could explain it, I would .

herbaceous · 09/01/2014 14:22

Well, yes MI. I had two veggie sausages, plus mushrooms and tomatoes. And rocket. I seem to have just eaten a lump of stilton from the fridge. I'm combining 5:2 with low carb, and ending up back where I started.

motherinferior · 09/01/2014 14:44

I've just used the last of the stilton in a salad with walnuts to take to choir tonight. With oat cakes. Yum.

Any suggestions of what to feed the Inferiorettes et moi toute seule over the weekend (when DP usually does the bulk of the cooking) and on through next week? We have fish cakes (made by him) and curry (made by me) loitering in the freezer. And many weird quorny things whose jib I don't like the cut of (bought by him to feed pescetarian DD1). I am feeling unenthusiastic as well as aware of my spare tyre...

Blackduck · 09/01/2014 15:13

I am a sucker for grey MI! I had gone to buy dp a birthday cake and I saw it as I passed through the women's wear section.......

lalsy · 09/01/2014 16:18

Baked potato wedges and eggs in one tray, with load of green salad? (Not particularly wonderful but hardly any washing up, v important when in sole charge I find).

motherinferior · 09/01/2014 16:31

VG idea, lalsy.

bigTillyMint · 09/01/2014 16:48

I have a lot of grey too. Is it a crepey colour, I wonder?!

I am bored with cooking for the family.

motherinferior · 09/01/2014 16:48

Yes. Me too.

lalsy · 09/01/2014 17:15

Me too.

Fishfingers/baked eggs/pasta and pesto are MUCH more frequent these days. Or the sort of dinners that my dc dread, called "Stuff from the fridge".

herbaceous · 09/01/2014 17:20

Easy veggie dinner that is also tasty - roast veg, various, then 10 minutes before end lay slices of halloumi over and melt/char. Exciting extras include paprika, thyme, balsamic, etc.

I have drawers full of grey. Am trying to not buy further grey, as feel I need some colour.

Stropperella · 09/01/2014 18:29

We have just had Tesco gnocchi with tomato and mozzarella sauce plus green veg. Complete cheat's supper, but everyone likes it.

I have got rid of most of my grey clothes as grey seems to drain me of all colour. Luckily, dd looks good in grey and has been happy to give a home to various cardigans.

bigTillyMint · 09/01/2014 19:03

We just had chilli (from out of the freezer, made in a massive batch in the slowcooker!) and roti with cheese on. Tomorrow is pasta pesto and Saturday I will be outGrin

I haven't tried gnocchi on the family - maybe I'll put it on next weeks order.

DD is not pleased - she agreed to babysit a gorgeous little neighbour tomorrow and now her BF has tickets to The 1975. I have said she has to babysit.

CointreauVersial · 09/01/2014 19:13

I like grey too. Tis clearly the crepey neutral of choice. Brown/taupe make me look jaundiced.

Unusually, I am alone in the house. DD2 has joined DD1's drama class, DH is at a leaving do, DS is at football. What to do, what to do??

hattymattie · 09/01/2014 19:40

I'm navy blue - grey makes me look washed out.

DD2 has had tantrum because I bought a jumper for DD1 in the sales. It was OK until she realised it was Massimo Dutti - which is apparently a desirable brand. She said I never buy her anything - not true - she has the most clothes.

We've had baked potatoes, cheese; garlic mushrooms, bacon and salad - another easy option.

We are having chicken and quinoa curry. DD1 is home and dripping about the place wailing because she has done badly in her exams (in her view). It did not sound that disastrous to me (apart, perhaps, from science). She is bright enough, and has found everything very easy until now, so it has come as a bit of a shock not to get any straight As. I think she also needs to work on her exam technique, as she has never done formal exams before.

Your grub always sounds dead good Mrs S Smile

I'm sure your DD has done fine. We're in bac blanc season here ie. mock A levels. We have a practice exam nearly every Saturday up to the real things in June.Hmm

cremolafoam · 09/01/2014 20:10

Yes lots of grey , lots of navy and smattering of taupe. I think I may be over the navy , though suspect I may return to it in more clement weather.
My standard summer wardrobe seems to consist entirely of breton tops various.
Boden cataloje has me pulling on thermal socks -all those pictures of Olga and Inguna's nekkid ankles. Brr!
I did make a nod to spring today in the purchase of a yellow cashmere sweater v neck from the local Hospice shop @ £ 5.50Grin
It's totally gorgeous and a sunny shade rather than eggy. Cheery.
We have had the fire brigade round as our chimney caught fire again.
Dishy fireman 1 says my chimney is a funny shape . You're not wrong, I said.Grin Ne
Nevertheless well have to do something about it as this is the third time it's gone up with flames coming out the chimney pot .Shock
Never a dull moment in this house.
Bank account empty so eating lentils too Wilbur. Lentil Bolognese.Confused

herbaceous · 09/01/2014 20:21

Ooh, firemen. Lovely.

Many moons ago, when I shared a rented house, we spotted smoke coming up between the floorboards. We phoned the fire brigade, waffling 'well, it's not really urgent, maybe you could just pop in when you're passing', but they sent a whole proper engine, turned off all the electricity, and rampaged about the house being all manly.

I was so overcome with something or other I went to the shop. I returned with a bag full of courgettes, large carrots and other phallic vegetables. Heaven knows what my subconscious was doing.

Blackduck · 09/01/2014 21:03

Oh we could swap pulse recipes - I like a pulse :)
I am still secretly hoping that MrsS will invite us all to hers for a midnight feast :) I suspect it would be darn good.....

Crepey weekend somewhere?

bigTillyMint · 09/01/2014 21:37

I like navy too. And black, but not taupe. Taupe is not my colour unless it's below the waist!

Crepey weekend sounds fabSmile With MrsS cooking!

We are watching CBB and the DC are shouting at Lee! It is very good for conversations with teensWink
