best lip balm?

Really dry lips at the moment! Vaseline just doesn't seem to be cutting it - I apply it constantly throughout the day. Does anyone have a good lip balm recommendation?

Dior Lip Glow is a lovely balm, really lasts on your lips

DiamondsAndRust · 28/11/2013 15:50

Another vote for Smith's Rosebud Salve - so moisturising and it lasts for ages.

HappyHolidaysOneAndAll · 28/11/2013 16:07

The best is Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip balm, but as I can't afford it anymore the next best I have found is Burts Bees. It is fantastic for the price and the Burts Bees Hand Salve is also amazing.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 28/11/2013 16:20

Blistex stubgs my lips Sad

weebarra · 28/11/2013 16:49

Nuxe - got it as a treat as have horribly dry lips through chemo, and it's great.

VenusDeWillendorf · 28/11/2013 17:38

I love the aloe Vera Vaseline, and use it up my nose as well!
I also use a burts bees minty one.
And now I use a coloured burts bees one.
I also use a lippy - mostly chubby sticks from Clinique which is very moisturising, and a lip balm from elf.co.uk - very cheap and long lasting - good range of colours too.

I used the creme de la mer one when I was pregnant as my skin dried out horribly, and it was amazing if £££

Maybe take some vitamin b complex OP. chapped lips are a symptom of a vitamin deficiency.

boodles · 28/11/2013 17:44

Harraw night lip balm is the dogs bollocks.

squoosh · 28/11/2013 17:48

Ditch the Vaseline, it dries your lips out. What worked for me was using a toothpaste that didn't contain SLS, worked better than all the lip balms in the world!

Souper · 28/11/2013 17:53

Lansinoh nipple cream is the best lip balm ever

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 28/11/2013 18:09

I agree with sqoosh. The peeking lips are often a reaction to a crappy lipgloss or toothpaste.

AfricanExport · 28/11/2013 18:15

Rose & co - Rose petal salve. Best thing EVER!! I cannot live without it.

EVERYTHING else burns like hell or only works short term and then starts to burn.

I have horrible skin though. ... Sad

JennySense · 28/11/2013 22:53

Nuxe Reve de Miel :) It's matt not shiny.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/11/2013 00:38

I have a Gatineau DefliLift one (in a white tube) - I wouldn't have bought it but it was in a set from QVC.
Not flavoured or tingley (unlike the Soap & Glory one).

Really nice Smile

VenusDeWillendorf · 29/11/2013 12:11

Are you wearing the toothpaste as a gloss Squoosh?
Surely you rinse your lips after brushing your teeth?
I know some folks have said toothpaste is great for acne, and put some on a spot at night, but surely you don't leave the toothpaste on your lips?

I know if I use Labello my lips dry out, and I find Vaseline aloe brilliant, and also the tinted lip balms from eyes lips face are very good, and nice and cheap!

Carmex is good too, but I find it medicinal smelling, so tend to leave it rattling round my bag, rather than using it iykwim!

squoosh · 29/11/2013 12:16

'Are you wearing the toothpaste as a gloss Squoosh?'

Ummm, not as far as I'm aware. I spend about 3 mins brushing my teeth morning and evening and that's long enough for the SLS to sit on my lips causing them to peel. I'm just reporting what worked for me, I started using an SLS free toothpaste and cracked and peeling lips became a thing of the past.

bishboschone · 29/11/2013 12:33

Blistex .. The cream liquidy one .. I have used it for years . It's brilliant. If your lips are really dry put it on at night and blur the edges of you lips . You look a bit daft but wake up with lovely soft lips Smile

bishboschone · 29/11/2013 12:36

This one

summermovedon · 30/11/2013 08:31

I tend to find most lipbalms disappear nearly as quickly as I put them on. Arden 8 hour is fab but over £20- but stays on and really works. Another one I found recently is Caudalie lipbalm which is quite similar in texture and stay-on ness and 1/4 of the price. Really loving it.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 30/11/2013 14:54

blistex

SheffieldSal · 30/11/2013 15:42

Can't believe no-one has said Chapstick!

Fuckitthatlldo · 30/11/2013 19:37

Carmex or Blistex (the cream in the tube) for healing and moisturising. Nuxe Reve de Miel is a genius product for using under make-up though. It's matt and non slippy and makes a really nourishing base. Swear it makes lipstick last longer too.

Elizabeththefirst · 30/11/2013 19:52

I bought the burts bees one expecting honey and got mint instead Sad it was very disappointing

whataboutbob · 30/11/2013 20:11

When I m in France I buy Roget et gallet's lip balm " Baume a levres" it is a lovely melting consistency and doesn t. Leave a sticky feeling mother lips. You can find it in pharmacies .
