I need to look KNOCKOUT!

Help please! Grin

I have an event coming up that (for reasons I won't go into here) I need to look AMAZING! It's a party but not at an overly glamorous location.

I have quite fixed ideas of what I'd like - cream, white or gold (or possibly red) knee length fitted dress (bodycon?) preferably sleeveless and with a bit of cleavage and/or back in show.. Not work type material but not too sparkly.. Unsurprisingly, with such tight requirements, I'm having difficulty finding this - can anyone help please? TIA Thanks

Omg I just bought the Alberta Ferretti top Shock thanks FauxFox!

There are loads of black lace tops around, I've got one from LK Bennett last year - it wouldn't be hard to find one at a reasonable price.

Dammit I thought you were sorted. Sorry the dress wasn't right but I do think you're on to something with a fabulous top and high waisted trousers - or a really fitted pencil skirt if you have good legs?

I think that, if you keep the bottom half understated, you can then go for a top that shows off a bit of cleavage/shoulders/back - although perhaps not all three, given the occasion Grin

Alternatively, a silk shirt with an extra button or two left undone - and great jewellry - can look really sexy as well as classy.

Red is too try-hard if your husband's first wife is going to be there imo.

Different way of looking at it, but I'd want to make sure that I not only looked knock out but that I didn't look like I cared either way.

If you wear red she'll think 'gosh, are we in a competition, well HappyGirl seems to think so, but ha ha, I never entered'. I'd pick whatever natural colour (your black) suits you and find a dress in a GREAT fit. Olive green or navy are mine. TTThey sound drab when you say them out loud but they work well.

this is sexy but classy

lots of lovely links on this thread here. I agree about the red though, tis perhaps a bit obvious? another stunning colour would be different as I bet loads will be wearing red.

That's a gorgeous colour step. Reminds me of Kate Middleton's style. There are similar short sleeved dresses on the same siteOP.
