I need to look KNOCKOUT!

Help please! Grin

I have an event coming up that (for reasons I won't go into here) I need to look AMAZING! It's a party but not at an overly glamorous location.

I have quite fixed ideas of what I'd like - cream, white or gold (or possibly red) knee length fitted dress (bodycon?) preferably sleeveless and with a bit of cleavage and/or back in show.. Not work type material but not too sparkly.. Unsurprisingly, with such tight requirements, I'm having difficulty finding this - can anyone help please? TIA Thanks

I love that dress Remus!!
On my Christmas present list now!

HappyGirlNow · 24/11/2013 15:55

Aw thanks Back2 that's nice but I'd probably prefer to be a little more blatantly sexy Wink

You are not going to do where your ex is going to be there are you?

Sounds like the sort of help I would be asking from MN!

Twinklestein · 24/11/2013 16:05

I infer a man is involved, and a fairly un-scientific survey 'proved' that women in red were rated significantly more sexually desirable by men.

Asos have some great bodycon dresses, I couldn't find any that fit the criteria in cream, but they have loads of red:

I would not say that any of them were classy, but they're highly pullable...

HappyGirlNow · 24/11/2013 16:20

Ha well not quite, it's my husband's ex-wife who I've never met and who is pretty glam.. Oh and her family and friends.. I'm reasonably glam myself but want to be my glammest most gorgeous ever without looking too too try hard..

Just don't want to look like a step down that's all!

I have to say I LOVE the first vivienne Westwood dress.

But if not well what about this

or this which I love but can understand it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

And finally this sexy number which is quite out there.

HappyGirlNow · 24/11/2013 16:34

Ooh thank you Oranges - just bought a dress very like the first one but think strapless is a bit too much for this event.. Second one's nice but I don't have the legs for it unfortunately.. I actually really like the last one but maybe a bit short at the front..

Reiss Dress in Red

HappyGirlNow · 24/11/2013 16:47

Thanks Koala I had actually noticed that one! Not sure re material though, looks a bit thick..

RevoltingPeasant · 24/11/2013 16:53

I think Vivienne W dress all the way! You don't want to LOOK like you made an effort. That looks expensive, sexy, understated.

Bambi75 · 24/11/2013 16:59

If your colouring can carry it off go for red. I met my husband on match.com. I was wearing a red dress in my profile picture and he said as soon as he saw me in the red dress he was smitten.

There's something about red dresses that drives men crazy.

Bambi75 · 24/11/2013 17:04

happygirlnow. There are lots of gorgeous red dresses at The Pretty Dress Company if you go online. There's a lovely one shoulder number I've got my eye on ..

KoalaFace · 24/11/2013 17:06

Hmm you're right there isn't a lot out there...

What about these?

Forever Unique

Nelly

Celeb Boutique

HappyGirlNow · 24/11/2013 17:26

Thanks Koala - LOVE the first one but think it'll look a bit try hard and it's a bit much for this event.. Ditto second.. Not keen on third..

I guess I had my heart set on a cream one really... But I can definitely take wearing red and I do like it and I can see what you're all saying about it being a hot colour Grin

Ohhhhh ok, you need uber-glam.

Scrap Asos. And personally I'd scrap Anglomania as the dresses hang terribly.

LK Bennett Cream

LK Bennett Red

MaxMara red

Catherine Malandrino

Badgley Mischka

Donna Karan

Have you got the Shopstyle App? It makes browsing through lots of shops really easy. You can refine searches by colour, style, price, size, etc.

The cream ones I saw seemed a bit "wedding" to me but you might see one with potential!

Twinklestein · 24/11/2013 17:33

Matches & Netaporter have some really nice dresses atm - would you consider going away from cream/red?

Belindaearl2 · 24/11/2013 17:49

Maybe not PARTY enough black&cream
