Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from here.

Hopefully - thanks so much for your explanation, it's made it much clearer and palatable actually! I was dreading a lifetime of waterfall cardis, ruffle blouses and embroidery.

Adding drama is a much better way of explaining it!

Another question for you all, i've been given a gift of £100 mac vouchers (whoooppp whoooppp!) I want a couple of lipsticks and some eyeshadows. Any particular ones you adore?

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 27/02/2014 09:43

Betty I'm a dramatic gamine and those most helpful thing someone said to explain it to me was not to wear clothes with too much movement. So if you are the opposite then movement might be just the thing?

Piratefairy · 27/02/2014 09:53

I love MAC eyeliner pencil in Blooz betty

Used2bthin · 27/02/2014 09:57

Missscttterbrain yes that's the one! The colour is slightly more intense irl. I would say it is not my best green (I think jade green on kettlewell colours is my best colour along with a deep fuchsia colour which I can never find anywhere) but it works well. I need to get some more jewellery to compliment the colours too, I used to be really good at this and plan my buys carefully and so everything went with each other but have lost the knack since having dd2 (who never bloody sleeps!!)

I also have the black h and m cardigan with small white spots but I need a colour top to wear under it too.

Betty lucky you with the mac vouchers! I have a really bright pink blusher from them which works well but I know that isn't what you are looking for so will let others advise!

Used2bthin · 27/02/2014 12:21

I am now going to look back again through recent posts and see if anyone has seen anything which would be good for me to buy, I have been reading this and imaginary shopping for a while and now that I have the money to buy something I can't think of anything!

In case anyone has seen anything good, I am (I think) looking for a cardigan in a good winter colour which is a similar shape to the h and m one missscatterbrain linked to and then some tops to go under cardigans to brighten up the pencil skirts.

Maraki · 27/02/2014 12:49

Betty I would suggest you consider a blusher called dollymix and is great with red lipstick
bright pink blusher called Pink Swoon and
plumfull lipstick which is the lightest, most neutral lipstick Winters can get away with.
Happy shopping!

Geneticsbunny · 27/02/2014 13:29

piratefairy that dress is lovely. Yes I reckon it is Chinese blue. I agree about kettle well. They are all really short, which is a shame.

QueenCadbury · 27/02/2014 14:16

Used2bthin · 27/02/2014 15:04

Thanks queencardigan you are good at this!

I love the mango one and may order as we don't have mango locally. Also may order the navy and white as I notice they do tall online (at first glance I thought it looked too short for me but this should solve that problem.)

Yes I am not sure the pink ones would be quite bright enough for me which is a shame as they are lovely.

Used2bthin · 27/02/2014 15:07

Gap once did a red which was the perfect shade for me, also a jade green one around the same time. Have never found a red cardigan to suit me since despite having bought loads which didnt work as they were the wrong red! Same goes for the bright fuchsia scarf I used to have, someone once told me I should always wear it as it made me look so healthy!

didireallysaythat · 27/02/2014 16:27

Is it possible to work out what kind of winter I am from my colour scores ? My consultant just said winter. I live in grey but it's probably not my colour really.... I just look knackered all the time.

MissScatterbrain · 27/02/2014 16:56

Tell us what your double starred 100% colours are Smile

MissScatterbrain · 27/02/2014 17:01

(and that was to didI)

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 27/02/2014 17:51

Ooh Queen, I've bought that cardigan in red and blue! Had been looking for ages, thank you. Thanks Thanks Thanks

didireallysaythat · 27/02/2014 18:31

MissScatter my two star colours are:

At 100% royal blue, lobelia, fushsia, carmine and ice hyacinth

At 75% light grey, royal purple, navy, mole, raspberry, lagoon blue and ice lavender

At 50% black, indigo, magenta, damson, scarlet, dark emerald and ice blue

I had my colours done at the beginning of January and to be honest I've made little use of it because (a) I don't (yet) like any of the 100% colours and (b) I go clothes shopping about once a year.

But I accept that change doesn't happen over night and changes that stick take even longer...

MissScatterbrain · 27/02/2014 18:36

didi - I think you could be a jewel winter.

You really should go back to your consultant and ask these questions - were you able to "see" how your best colours worked on you? This is vital if you are able to wear your new palette successfully.

didireallysaythat · 27/02/2014 18:42

Thanks MissScatter - no I couldn't see most of the colours being good on me, but I could see that some looked like cheap nylon tracksuit material on me (if you see what I mean). There was no one colour which made me think 'wow, that's what I've been missing'. I'm going for a style day when I get around to finding my diary but I think my 'meh' feeling hasn't made me rush into booking this yet.

MissScatterbrain · 27/02/2014 18:52

I wouldn't rush into a style day - you need to get to grips with your new colours first. Email the consultant to explain you do not feel you have got it and to ask if she can go over the colours with you again.

Fooogle · 27/02/2014 20:20

Ooo all those cardis! I have some teal left over from my spring guise... Always felt it was quite good on me but maybe not good enough...
I've committed the kettlewell sin... Not tried it on yet. Merino cardis though for 35£. I was tempted. The test seems v pricey for vests etc.
Any tips for good ice colours sources for tops currently? Feel the need for some lighter shades and apart from White don't know where to look. Even a kettlewell one looks too pink to me compared to ice pink swatches...

Used2bthin · 27/02/2014 21:20

Oh see now I will have to look again at kettlewell at merino cardigans!

Boden don't seem to have any good colours for me for either cardigans or tops at the moment but have just spent a long while in their website all the same, oops!

I have heard good things about woolovers so may browse there for a bit. If anyone has any work shift dress recommendations in charcoal or navy let me know!

Sorry I don't know much about ice colours, the only one I have ever worn was a cardigan from boden in very pale pink/peach (wore in my wedding day) I always wondered why I could wear that but generally light colours/pastels made me look sick but now having read this thread I can see it must be ice .

mrskittyfantistico · 27/02/2014 21:31

Hello everyone Grin I'm a bit of a lurker here, I posted at the end of the last thread but feel I should introduce myself again as I haven't posted for ages.

I was convinced I was a warm season as I have quite a yellow glow going on in the wrong colours...! Despite being surprised though I was really lucky in the way my consultant talked me all through it and it was glaringly obvious.

I'm on a tight budget so have for now just done rather a lot of dying (dark green, burgundy, navy and black) and bought a few cheaper bits with recent birthday money. My wardrobe is a long way from perfect but it is now very workable and, whilst all the colours may not be spot on, just the fact they are richer and deeper has made a huge difference. I feel like I can swap individual items over the years now and (hopefully) won't panic buy anymore!
Having said this I did make an impulse buy from ebay earlier and am now thinking they may not be as sultry winter as I'd thought. Does anyone think these are right or do they look more autumn. Although I seem to be getting an overall idea of my colours I'm still struggling to identify individual pieces.
