Shop you've done well....just by cutting out juice? Sleep is the modern day Rosemary Conley but with much better hair and far less annoying Wink

Dry - for me the issue with sweeteners is that the taste sends your body a message that sugar is coming. To deal with the sugar your body produces insulin. But then there's no sugar...so there's excess insulin floating around, which signals the body to store fat and also often makes you crave more sugar, in order to get the real thing - if you act on this, you eat more - so in the end, artificial sweetener can actually be worse than the real thing! Some people like xylitol or stevia with are natural products but they still don't suit others. Tbh I'd go with berries and a little drizzle of honey with your yoghurt and try and wean yourself off sweetener in drinks and many low fat products. Its surprising how quickly you lose the taste for it once you cut it out.

Shop - will pm tomorrow or over the weekend, would that be ok?

Not just juice. No breakfast cereals. Less bread. More water. Wholegrain salads every once in a while. Healthier choices.....

Hello again. sleep I'd be willing to give anything a go. I know that I eat far too much chocolate when I've got the rage. But I went cold turkey on the diet coke and I don't miss that so maybe I could give up chocolate Hmm. I want to avoid a hysterectomy at the moment as don't want major surgery but also I'm not convinced I'll be better on HRT. I think I have your email address so I'll email you.

dry I hope Amy gets kicked out first. She's doing my head in!

Hi all. Another pmt sufferer here. Atm am a greasy, spotty hormonal mess. I gave up sugar for a while and was much better all round but slipped back into old ways before too long. I am sure in my case that chocolate, cake and pepsi max are the biggest culprits as I don't drink alcohol, eat bread or red meat or have much dairy or drink juice or squash. I feel the rage starting almost as soon as I have ovulated each month and it lasts for the 2+ weeks until I get my period. I also get a terrible stuffy nose and hot flushes while I have pmt too. GP useless said I must be premenopausal even though I was only 36 at the time. Anyway moan over.
Have not bought anything recently and am waiting patiently for the sales for a splurge on a new bag. Still undecided about which one to get.Wish I could get to Selfridges or somwhere to have an actual look at them all, just not practical to keep buying and sending back.
I like the sound of your green coated skinnies Shop where are they from?

I second MrsR's suggestion about the Ally Capellino bags, LIberty. I have one of her satchels bought from Tate Modern years ago and I love it. Just gets softer and better every year.

Queen I'm sorry to read of your struggles still. Medical problems like these are a real millstone but you need that time alone with DH and the guilt about spending a few days away is miss-placed albeit understandable. The children will not be harmed. They may whinge and be a bit clingy but treat it as a normal part of family life and they will be fine and see it as being fine too. I know I can only ever be an expert on my own children and family life but having grown children has given me some perspective about time apart from them and children with good attachments are not harmed by their parents having a short break Flowers.

I need some new Biker boots as a matter of urgency but feel disloyal to my beloved DM bikers if I don't buy another pair. I don't like Bikers to be too fashiony. I like them real which is where the DM's come in. Preferably chunky, nut or dark brown, black at a pinch. No fur or sheepskin lining as I get hot. Chunky heel and rounded toe. Mid to just below the knee. I spent less time in choosing my husband and had fewer criteria!

Hurrah! Finally got to see shop's coated skinnies (damn Pinterest won't open for me tonight). Very lovely too.

Dry that bag is lush shame I don't have room in my wardrobe for any more bags

Great to have to back Mig. Your purchases made me Smile

I am so tired I can barely type. Just hosted Thanksgiving dinner for 11 after putting in a hectic day at work. On the plus side, there are quite a few leftovers to make the next couple of days easier! I've ordered the sequinned blazer (thanks to all your favourable pin comments) and a black silk biker T from All Saints and plan to put them to good use soon.

I share your views on Amy too QueenC. She reminds me of the whiny conniving little bitch who worked for us and fancied herself as lady of the manor. Until I put her straight, that is.

Need to last at least eight years too. Longer than my last relationship Wink.

The only post menopausal sign I have to be honest is needing to superglue my skin on every morning after a shower. It is so dry it feels like it is shedding like a lizard. It just feels desiccated. Hair same as always, love life same as always (none of the horrid side effects there), no wrinkles or lines appearing. Just dryness of the skin. I am not 'dewy' any more. I need to dunk my face into a sink of freezing early morning water to look fresh.

Has anybody seen the sequinned Banana Republic cardigans that L'Wren Scott has done for them? Very Headmistress on a night out- in a good way I might add.

Btw can anyone recommend a good face cleanser. I used to use Eve Lom and am now just finishing a Liz Earle C+P.Would prefer this kind of cloth cleaner method. Skin usually dryish although my T zone has been terribly greasy with visible pores over the last couple of months even when no pmt. Even DM said I needed a facial the other day! Up to now my skin has always been good so don't know whats going on.

Sleepwhenidie · 28/11/2013 22:53

justasecond - my skin is going crazy the last week or so too, some horrible spots but also dry and hyper-sensitive, I have been using Clarins blue orchid oil, even in the day and it just gets absorbed in minutes, helpful for me but not sure for greasy skin....

I think you have probably identified your demon foodwise though - almost certainly ditching the sugar would make a difference - and don't get me started on diet cola Grin

Think QueenC was after one of those cardigans in red Mig

Agree Amy is the type of spoilt pretty girl we referred to at school as "the beautifuls" not nice people at all, but have a great life because they're pretty. She'll be out first I reckon.

Grumpy how's the wrap sequinned jumper wearing? Still watching for sale but some reviews have said the cuff goes baggy.

Just I have been very fortunate. I kind of transitioned without realising it. I had dreadful heat attacks for a year without putting two and two together but they have gone now. I suddenly realised that I had only seen Flo once in a year although she damn well overstayed her welcome that one time. Flo was always pretty quiet and understated so not much to miss really.

I've never had spots or breakouts either. Not as an Adolescent or now. My skin tends to dry ish on my arms and legs but is absolutely boringly normal on my face. I like Klorane Cornflower cleanser but probably not rich enough for drier skins. Benefit Marshmallow face cream is lovely albeit not very 'adult' in its packaging. There are some other suggestions on my Pin face and body page.
