Hello all. Busy day here looking after 2 other dc whilst their parents have a baby! Total fashion fail from me. The hot water ran out so couldn't wash my hair this morning. Had to rush to take dd to a party and got there and realised my jeans are smeared with goodness knows what and then we decided to take the boys and little dd to soft play so figured there was no point in changing. Feel totally skanky. Ret assured foxy that I shall be wahing hair and putting in clean clothes to see younGrin

shopafrolic · 23/11/2013 17:38

Have fun tonight Foxy and QueenC

Drywhiteplease · 23/11/2013 17:55

Yes have a lovely time with Strictly and prosecco. Smile Shop and QueenC

Something just dawned on me after my step ford wives hellish party last night when I stood and thought "these women look old" and realised I'm only a few years behindSad

I went on a diet.
I started going to the gym.
I'm feeling great about myself.
I don't want to get old before my time.
I'm feeling frustrated with permanently stressed/exhausted/workaholic husband who btw is a great bloke whom I love
I'm looking at women 5yrs older than me and think they look old.
I don't want to end up a mutton woman dancing to Shaka KHan with her shoes off, too short dress and natural tan tights on full display.
I've gone down to London to meet a load of strange as in 'unknown' and not as in 'wierd' women I've met on the internet.

OMG! Shock I think I'm having a MID LIFE CRISIS !!!!!!Shock Sad

OP posts:
GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 23/11/2013 20:26

That's not a crisis Dry, that's the mid-life realisation that we don't age at the same rate, the one where we make a mental note to stay ourselves, rather than descend into some strange 'embracing the oldness' state. I keep harking back to the difference between my Mum & MIL - they are 18 months apart in age but it may as well be 18 years. My Mum dresses well, is busy and active, works, travels and is the same bossy, vibrant woman she's always been. MIL embraced the oldness years ago and spends her entire time recounting the illnesses she's had ( the 'virus' of 2000, the time she got food poisoning in 1994, etc etc). Despite having no mortgage and a shitload of money between her and her H in matured policies and pensions, they go nowhere, do nothing and just seem so old (mid-sixties). You're happy Dry and you look and feel great so no crisis. Stay away from Stepford!

Annianni · 23/11/2013 20:40

I'm perusing electric blankets online.
Shoot me now!

Christ I feel old

OneLittleLady · 23/11/2013 22:15

I think you're fine Dry don't worry, just do what makes you happy Smile

QueenCadbury · 23/11/2013 23:06

dry the only midlife crisis you had was when you bought that red flower necklace Grin x

Just spent a lovely night in the company of foxy and am a little bit drunk. Now on the baileys at home with dh and his friend who have coped admirably with 5dc (friends dc still here). I can report that the Aldi prosecco is well worth £5.99, that her kitchen is lovely and that pasha is even lovelier. foxy I know you're still dithering over the cost but he is gorgeous.

Drywhiteplease · 24/11/2013 00:43

Grumpy you're lovely! thanks, Smileand so glad you're back and QueenC that red flower necklace!!! I really should have worn it to the MU!!! if I hadn't sold it on ebay

Blimey, I've had a lot of dry white tonight....hosts had bought 4 different Chardonnay to sample. Chardonnay has had bad press in recent years but these were good....I surpassed my wine tasting skills by stating that one had "a very buttery aftertaste" and even better " I can taste electrical fires" Grin Oz Clark eat your bloody heart out. Shame the dessert wine was served with the Gorgonzola !!!!!!!!!!

Love to all MNV ladies!

Morning lovelies.

Dry you are so funny, warm and fabulous you'll always be you. Do not fear. Love the wine tasting post.

Yesterday was fun. Good to be home today.

MarshaBrady · 24/11/2013 08:54

Shop that sounds good. I saw some cameras in there a while ago, maybe some filler scenes or something. I ducked out if the way of course!

shopafrolic · 24/11/2013 16:26

Dry "I'm feeling great about myself."
Nuff said.

shopafrolic · 24/11/2013 16:31

Marsha how was it? What was fabulous? What did you wear? Did you get home in one piece? etc. etc. etc.

MarshaBrady · 24/11/2013 16:47

Shop yes was fab! Brilliant outfits too. I did cop out though and wore something that has had a few outings. The beige sparkly Stella dress, anthracite 30 denier (I think.. So not opaque) Wolford tights and Marant heels. All from back of the wardrobe. And then Marant coat thingy and scarf for journey.

I was not too bad Grin. I arrived at around 3ish and left and at 10pm and had a break in the middle. I was definitely not falling over! And drank water plus prosecco and dh was pleased to see me looking relatively normal when I got home.

I really wanted something new, need to be more organised next time.

OneLittleLady · 24/11/2013 17:07

My willpower is like iron. I have baked chocolate orange and mini rolo muffins and haven't eaten a single one as I am still detoxing. Grin

MarshaBrady · 24/11/2013 17:10

Well done One, the ultimate test.

I had to do the same with a chocolate swirl cake this morning. I don't usually care that much for cake, but post drinking looked a little more delicious. Ds2 is into baking in a big way now, he is practising for the big 4th Tiger birthday cake and is clocking up two or three fresh ones a week. Luckily there are people here who like it!
