People find it really difficult to place my accent santa

It's not a French accent, nor a Dutch accent, nor an Afrikaans accent and not a German accent.

Oh and I also try to speak with a British accent (our English teacher in school hated the American accents we had picked up from The A-Team, Knightrider and later Beverley Hills 90210) and I'm sure I sound ridiculous but I don't care.

santamarianovella · 22/11/2013 20:22

linus we moved a lot when I was a child, and some of the countries we lived in had just american schools so my accent is heavily americanised, with a bit of continental mixture.
The funniest think anyone said about my accent was at a dinner party, a colleague of dh's who just moved from Brazil swore that I must have came from his state as I talked and looked like the girls from his home town!

shopafrolic · 22/11/2013 20:25

DH and I met online, during our first phone call (before we met), he had a really interesting sounding accent. I thought continental. Turns out he's from Norwich! :)

Annianni · 22/11/2013 20:32

Shop :o

Does anyone like Goldsign Jems?

Yoox have some for £32, they're over £100 on Shopbop and silly money in Selfridges.

OneLittleLady · 22/11/2013 20:35

I very occasionally sound welsh, not surprising as my Dad is welsh and he was around when I was learning to talk. My singing tutor says my accent is hard to place as it's not overtly 'yorkshire' like he was expecting given that I've always lived in south yorkshire

Annianni · 22/11/2013 20:38

So I told dh last night, about wanting to chat to my consultant, and how she might put his mind at ease etc.

His response was that it wouldn't matter because of the other issues Sad
He now thinks that I want to leave him, and find a man who'll impregnate me!?

So tonight I've said, if I can't have a baby, then can I have a cat? (he hates cats)

Tomorrow I think I'll ask for a new handbag...

LinusDKD · 22/11/2013 21:00

Oh anni! (((hugs))) Maybe give him some time to get used to the idea?

I really love Dominic West's accent and voice, and smile

QueenCadbury · 22/11/2013 21:12

Oh anni sending hugs. Such a difficult decision. I remember how upset dh was every time I said no.

grumpy welcome back. Your life all sounds very stressful.

novice you would drive me mad too Smile. I hate being late for anything. Like dry I'm usually always early.

dry it all depends on the friends. I have some who would never notice what I wore so I'd happily wear the same again. But there's others who I would prefer to wear something different.

marsha have a fab lunch/evening.

BrandyAlexander · 22/11/2013 21:23

Oh I am sorry Anni x

santamarianovella · 22/11/2013 21:31

anni don't feel bad,men sometimes do that,I hope you find peace, its obvious that. It's really occupying your thoughts,

OneLittleLady · 22/11/2013 21:32

Sorry anni Sad Flowers

BrandyAlexander · 22/11/2013 21:32

I won't ever be showing dh this thread to find he has supportersGrin

Dh has gone out with his friends tonight.Sad I am at home in bed having put the dcs to bed earlier. I am burning Diptique pomander having resisted the urge to burn my Christmas candles. But they're all ready to go!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 22/11/2013 21:41

Oooh, Christmas candles - now you're talking! I have one I bought in a little boutique when I was visiting my parents (this time last year, sob!). It smells exactly like a fresh Christmas tree, bloody beautiful. I'm still burning Jo Malone Peony & Blush suede (front hall), Red Roses (office) and Pear & Freesia (bedroom) but I can't wait to start on the Christmas one or eat mince pies or drink winter Pimms but I must wait until at least Dec 1st. I've done most of my present shopping but only because I want to enjoy the season without the panic buying of shitty panic presents. DH's haul from me is particularly impressive. I have told him this, so he knows where the bar is set Wink

OneLittleLady · 22/11/2013 22:25

I'm really struggling to get things for DP, he loves gadgets and tech but has everything he says he wants and I haven't seen anything new that will appeal to him. I am especially struggling to think of cheapish stocking fillers for him Sad that said, I have found the greatest of great books for his stocking, he is notorious for making terrible puns so I have bought him a book filled with them Grin

foxysocks · 22/11/2013 22:37

hola bounjour ciao my lovelies....

pmsl at WWMD. brilliant.

anni massive hugs. I hope you come to a conclusion where you can feel at peace. xx

have also been on Nap insight panel for ages. nada. I want some vouchers, come onnnnn

still deliberating pash, I lurrrrve her a little bit more everytime I take her out of the dustbag. but the £! DH back on thursday - hoo-fucking-rah - so will see what he thinks.

aaaaand MY KITCHEN IS FINISHED!!*

  • almost. still waiting for tiles behind the aga and the bifold peeps are coming AGAIN next week as so far have fitted THREE panels with marks on the inside of the double glazing. whatevs. they are loosing money everytime they fuck up, I couldn't care less anymore as long as I get a perfect panel at the end of it

queenc is going to see out new kitchen before my husband. HA!

AmberNectarine · 23/11/2013 00:13

Keep it foxy, you won't regret it - I don't and I was more undecided than you!!

BrandyAlexander · 23/11/2013 08:05

Oh god GrumpyEnvyEnvyEnvy! I haven't even drawn up my Christmas list yet! This time last year I started 3 big projects with 24 Dec deadlines, honestly one of the worst Decembers of my life. I got to Christmas by throwing money at it, so everyone got outrageously expensive presents. I need to bring it down a good few notches before each of my siblings thinks its normal to spend hundreds on their present each year!

One, you have my sympathies. According to my online look on T3, dh has every gadget known to man! I am getting Stuff and T3 when I am in town later.

It's 5 degrees today. I need to buy a hat!

OneLittleLady · 23/11/2013 08:17

Novice I'm going for the fall back of a watch, he loves watches. Will be a mad dash for it on Christmas Eve though as money is all tied up for other things until then! Would be easier if there was a gadget to buy!

shopafrolic · 23/11/2013 08:40

One get him a subscription to a gadget magazine instead?
Morning all - Anni how are you doing today?
Marsha what's the outfit going to be?

shopafrolic · 23/11/2013 08:40

Foxy good news on the kitchen - any pics?

OneLittleLady · 23/11/2013 08:42

shopafrolic · 23/11/2013 08:52

Blimey - your scales are VERY detailed One! Well done!

foxysocks · 23/11/2013 09:15

not yet shop - still moving everything that was in the rest of the house into the kitchen and working out where it's going to go. was up till midnight last night and still have tons to do, grrrrr to my husband on the other side of the world who ill come back having missed all this.

shopafrolic · 23/11/2013 09:26

They always time it so well don't they Foxy
While DH was in Germany I had to move loads of furniture, sort the carpet fitters, decorator etc….. plus childcare - he got back late last night and now he's off shooting all day today! Need to start planning my revenge! :)

MarshaBrady · 23/11/2013 09:44

Shop not yet!

Foxy great news that you are nearly finished. Your dh will be impressed. Well he better be!

Santa your Chanel jacket is divine. The whole outfit is.
