I suggested I give up work and dedicate myself to educational enrichment and fruit intake at supper today. The Inferiorettes looked horrifiedGrin and pointed out they're at school every day and it's not that hard to get them to eat fruit.

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/12/2013 20:02

You could offer to home ed, MI. Grin

motherinferior · 01/12/2013 20:11

I use that as a threat.Grin

DP has sourced teenage childcare! Wow, you'd think he'd won the Nobel Prize from his air of exhausted triumph.

Blackduck · 01/12/2013 21:09

Yep ds's piano teacher says he is wonderful and coming on magnificently - so if he sodding practised 20 mins a day as she says he'd be bloody concert level by now .....

Feck... It's so bloody frustrating...... :)

beachyhead · 01/12/2013 21:22

Must be in the air today....I felt like the lynch pin that snapped, after much asking everybody to do everything, then collapsed in a sob fest, while everyone else ate sausages downstairs....

Combination of meds for toothache, PMT and TOO MUCH TO DO....

Quite exhausted now, and gagging for a glass of wine, which obviously I can't have (due to the hideous tooth meds!)

Might just go to bed....Smile

Sorry to hear of crises of confidence, teeth etc.

Can identify with dietary worries - DD lives on shed loads of chocolate, biscuits and sweet drinks and she barely picks at meals.

DH is diabetic and never managed it himself, so I had to. We eat healthily and don't buy junk food but DD buys it for herself and eats it in her room. I don't know when she last had a piece of fruit and she barely touches vegetables. I just keep providing good food and hope. I do buy her some treats but she just eats those and leaves the good stuff

She's had two concerts this weekend. I was stuck in South Ken for 3 hours this morning between her rehearsal and concert but couldn't face the crowds to do much shopping

What is it, ruby?

I am watching the laptops incase of any price-drops. Fingers crossed they don't go up!

lalsy · 02/12/2013 08:51

Ruby - I have this helmet. It's quite bright - I would look more cool in a dark coloured one, but at least it adds to my visibility. And it matches our Brompton Grin.

Much sadness chez wilbur at the moment as MIL had to have her big dog put down quite suddenly (pulmonary embolism). Dog was slightly younger than dd so dcs cannot remember a time without her and she was a lovely gentle soul. Ds2 who adores the animals was very quiet when we told him, and then about an hour later I found him sobbing his heart out in bed Sad. I would so love to be able to get them a dog - they would love it.

Lalsy - thanks for the Gap tip - will go and take a look.

lalsy · 02/12/2013 10:42

Wilbur, ahh, poor little ds2.

BTM, what did you get? I am dithering while writing very dull copy, can't quite decide.

Blackduck · 02/12/2013 10:51

Oh wilbur :( See that's exactly what I am dreading when our hound shuffles off this mortal coil......

ds cries at the drop of a hat as it is.....

GAP - hmmm.... no, musn't.....

motherinferior · 02/12/2013 10:51

Oh Wilbur. Is a dog really unfeasible (I can quite understand if it is)?

I would like it on record that an interviewee - v nice obstetrician - just told me I was a very good interviewer. I am Replete with Joy. Seriously. V happy. For once.

bigTillyMintspie · 02/12/2013 10:58

Oh wilburSad I remember when DA&U's labrador died - the DC were really upst despite rarely seeing her.

lalsy, I got a cable knit jumper and a hoodie for DH (although I might give the hoody to BIL or DS) and a navy polo neck for me. I love polonecks!

Well done MI!

wilbur · 02/12/2013 11:45

MI - we do hope to get a dog at some point, but as we are still planning to do some building work on the house (which is unlikley ever to happen based on our current workloads, but still, we dream) I don't think we can get a puppy while that is on the horizon, however distant. I have hopes that maybe, maybe we might be able to get one next summer, as we will have a much less stretched family timetable come next Sept. If I make it that far.

lalsy · 02/12/2013 11:46

DH presents, top idea, mine is impossible to buy for (tho not as bad as my grandfather who used to return the pen we usually gave him, the following year).

MI, excellent job!

motherinferior · 02/12/2013 11:55

And the report I edited is in the Guardian (Jackie Ashley likes it) which is clearly all to do with the excellent editing, obviously.

Here endeth the upbeat showy-offery and I will return to my usual levels of gloom Grin

motherinferior · 02/12/2013 11:59

About to place massive order with Friend Who Works At Posh Scent Shop and zap most people that way in a fragrantly Christmassy manner. I did consider giving them all Chanel 19....

beachyhead · 02/12/2013 13:00

I am thinking about putting a skin peel and dermal fillers on my Santa listGrin to go with my new root canal Grin

I am fearlessly venturing onto Oxford Street tonight! Wish me luck!

Blackduck · 02/12/2013 13:08
