Hi Springs.
New thread, hopefully, with the following link to our old one....

Early Spring

Hi Joycey - glad you're still around.

Thanks for the jewellery tip Beginner - will make a point of going into TopShop for a nosey.

The swatches tip above is good - I've had mine for so long now I almost don't have to look, but don't mind whipping it out in a shop if I'm unsure. I'm quite an evangelist about colours so don't mind launching into an explanation if anyone looks a bit Confused

Aquelven · 20/11/2013 15:05

Has anyone seen any nice spring coloured scarves around?
Now it's cold I've dug out my good coats, one full length sheepskin, one couple of wool, but they're all black. I'm loathe(too new & good & can't afford) to replace them yet so thought scarves! But I've trawled my local TKMaxx & high street shops to no avail. There are lots of gorgeous ones but they're all autumn rather than spring.

What are we wearing today? I'm in indigo jeans( what a surprise!) blue big fluffy jumper topped with a light grey jacket, brown suede boots, silver earrings.

Fooogle · 20/11/2013 19:42

aque, sounds a cosy and apt outfit. I'm in work clothes (of which I seem to wear almost the same each week!). peach oasis blouse, browny pinstripe wide leg gap wool trousers, navy cardi (desperate!) and tan boots. Wore Kelly green scarf most of the day as so chilly!
Not sure where else d be good for scarves... Boden ones look nice? Perhaps you could knit yourself the perfect colour? Have a lovely old teal mixed one that I think was oasis (label lost!). Lots of charity shop nearly good ones and an h and m yellow 'pashmina'. Not my fav style but you can get every colour of the rainbow...

BeginnerSAHM · 21/11/2013 08:05

Morning all,

Time for a bump!

I'm trying to work out what I can wear on this cold, wet and windy day that is remotely springy.... If anybody feels like inspiring me, feel free to tell me what you're wearing!

(Not that worried about springy - just need to get ready quickly and put on something warm really Wink)

TomYumSoup · 21/11/2013 11:25

Aqua, on the scarf hunt, is this any good? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360778300075?var=630176819539&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 though it doesn't look a 'warm' scarf it still looks quite big. Was thinking about ordering it.

Mumelie · 21/11/2013 14:05

Nice scarf TomYum (I have the pink spot AND the multi floral). Its not warm but is big.

I've been AWOL for a few days - busy busy no time to look at the internet Sad. Its freezing here and I cant get out of giant jumpers and my puffa coat (luckily navy). Not feeling Spring like at all, Navy head to tow, but do have red lippie on.

Finally having my hair done on Saturday - thinking of going to my natural colour (mid ashy brown) with a few highlights. Cant wait to get rid of the ombre look - looked fab in the summer now just drains me.

mummiebummie · 21/11/2013 16:23

Mumelie, can I ask what those scarves are like in terms of material? Specifically, do they wrinkle easily? They look lovely

Mumelie · 21/11/2013 19:23

Hi mummie - they are quite fine but feel cotton like. They do pull a little. No they don't crinkle.

mummiebummie · 22/11/2013 16:55

Nice one, thanks! ordered the blue multicolour one

Aquelven · 22/11/2013 18:58

Well, I've been for my style day today.
Feel a bit punch drunk & if anything more confused than ever Confused
Seems I'm an ingenue/natural (or natural/ingenue) didn't understand this at all as she second part is the dominant bit?? But that's what I don't get as, when she measured me up, she said my body is completely & very ingenue ( short 5'1", narrow sloping shoulders but big bust, small waist, curvy hips, short legs) & the personality part was equally ingenue & natural. So how can the natural be the most when she said I was 15% ingenue & 5% natural? And naturals are above average height, sporty & biggish boned, she said. I'm none of those! Hmm
And I just don't do ethnic, sporty or hippy, most of which drown me.

Anyway, apart from that, I feel like I'll never be able to find anything to wear! She was very good on the body analysis & describing what I should look for. But I have to buy only very fitted, short jackets with two or three buttons( never one) & soft, short lapels. Only skirts to the knee or just a little longer (but only with long boots) otherwise ankle boots only, which I thought were supposed to make short legs look shorter???
Jumpers mustn't be long( she condemned all the ones I'd taken as too long Sad ). Along with the colour restrictions how will I ever find anything at all......... HELP

I can at least wear jeans( phew!) preferably with detailing. And should look for pretty detailing on tops. Most of the dresses on the sheet she crossed out as too long, draped, flowing droopy except for knee length, fitted, lowish necked.
I can't remember any more off hand, need to study the sheets when I can bring myself to do it. Just feeling a bit nonplussed at the moment Confused

Evening you lovely Spring ladies!

Such great information on this thread.

Thanks for the tip about putting an item of clothing against the swatches to see if it blends in, very useful.

I really want to get out there and buy stuff in my colours but because of Xmas/Finances and also waiting for my style day which i'm going to book for after Xmas it's on hold Sad

I have bought a new red hat though and a blouse which is kind of like the shell pink on the swatches Grin

I bought the lipstick Crosswires gillybobs It's very nice and am looking forward to trying others that were on that huge list you posted on the first thread.

Hope you're doing ok joycey waves

ebaymad · 22/11/2013 19:21

Oh aquelven Sad

I'm sorry I can't be much help, I haven't had a style day yet.

I think ankle boots look great on most people though, except maybe those who have larger calves.

Hopefully after the shock has worn off it'll all make sense.

RipMacWinkle · 22/11/2013 19:33

I'm rushing about at the minute but just wanted to post quickly Aquelven to say don't be disheartened. Take some time to read through the stuff and rethink over everything said. I'd also say if it still doesn't make sense or ring true for you, then go back and ask questions. That's what the consultant is there for. You really need to "get" it or it's not worth it.

I'm a natural gamine and I'm 5 feet nothing so don't let the nat height thing throw you. From the sounds of it you're a Natural Ingenue (but someone else correct me if I'm wrong) so you're an Ing body type (pen) with a natural slant on personality (pen lid).

Remember Nat doesn't have to mean ethnic, sporty or hippy. None of those are me. But for me it feels right. I'd never describe myself as high maintenance, I do like a bit of movement in material and love textures (wool, tweed) all of which are my interpretation of nat. I'm not out in trackies, hippy maxis or fringed clothes but I do think I'm true to my Nat. For example, I am sporting a duffle coat this winter - I reckon that's Nat Gam. Nat Ing might not be as chunky as duffle coat, might be another tweed or wood style coat with some kind of detailing on with a brooch and/or pretty belt?

Help me out other already-styled folks..... am I on the right track here?

RipMacWinkle · 22/11/2013 19:33

BTW I have a pair of brown suede flat ankle boots. They are fab.... I hear you on the short legs looking shorter. But they work so I wear

RipMacWinkle · 22/11/2013 19:34

Sorry to spam the board, last thought from me..... wasn't someone else a Nat Ing or Ing Nat recently round here??!?!?!

Fooogle · 22/11/2013 19:36

Hello all!
Yeah, sorry aque I'm not much help either but it does sound confusing... Think its hard as especially we want to understand why we ve got that label and kind if don't just want to take it totally without thinking? (Dunno if that makes sense?)...hoping it will all sink in in a bit and feel worthwhile?

Mumelie · 22/11/2013 19:59

Hi aque. Sorry your style day seems to have confused rather than clarified your style Sad

I try to look on my Inguene (body shape) as my actual style and my classic personality (like your natural) as the type and texture of the fabric. I know that's not all there is behind it but it helps me Wink . So I need good fabrics with a Sheen. You will need good texture like tweed and wool but on an Inguene style. That can be interpreted as you wish - I personally found the HoC ideas of victorian style ankle boots and tea dresses a bit old fashioned tbh. Think of the natural as the slant on the Inguene. Love the pen and lid analogy.
Sorry if I'm probably confusing even more nowShock

Did your consultant suggest any celebs with a similar style? What about checking out some Pintrest boards for inspiration?
took me months to get my head round mine and I was happy with and 'got' my result straight away.
I'm sure there will be lots of help on here.

Aquelven · 22/11/2013 20:01

Thank you, Rip & Fooogle Smile

Feeling a bit better after what you've said, Rip. I can see how lots of that would apply to me. Think what threw me was that when I asked, don't you mean natural ing? As I could see the ingenue but more casual, she said no the last part was the main one( at just 5%???)
Then because of this she only gave me the descriptive sheet for naturals, which is where it started being a bit ethnic, sporty etc Sad
Did anyone get a sheet explaining ingenue? If so would you be willing to post what it says please as I'm at 15% it might feel more me, just a bit more laid back, casual ( natural)?

Funnily enough, Rip, I'd already bought a duffel coat a few weeks ago![[

Aquelven · 22/11/2013 20:09

Thank you Mumelie. So do you think it really means I'm ingenue natural really? Body shape first then mitigating style? It was the way she explained it ( the opposite way round) that confused me but I can understand your explanation much better. And the textured aspect would be me.

See, the consultant said she is a dramatic natural & she's shaped nothing like me!! She's nearly a foot taller, broad shouldered, just much bigger in general but more straight up & down.
Could you post your ingenue explanation sheet if you have one please? As I said I only got the natural one.

BeginnerSAHM · 22/11/2013 20:22

Aquevelen - i was the recently diagnosed nat ing.... (A week ago.) To be honest, I'm not totally comfortable with it. But, looking at the HOC style types, I don't indentify with any of them Blush. I like the idea of the 'city chic' personality in the CMB book but that's not very helpful....

Seasonofthewitch helped me feel a bit better about the ingenue bit. The ingenue bit was definitely my body shape. Am 5'5'', slimish triangle shape (although shoulders same width as hips - just have rounder bottom and minimal boobs!) with quite delicate bone structure (i.e. teeny wrists, ankles, feet etc.).

I'm never going to wear peplums, tea dresses, too much boho sh*t Blush but am happy to wear fine/delicate bits of jewellery. I also really really like the sloppy jumper/short dress and leggings/v skinny jeans and biker boots look and think pulling it in at the waist (as I'm 'supposed' to do) looks frumpy (on me) and dated. Plus, it makes my hips look huge. Sorry, not helping much, am I?

I do like a bit of lace (eg lace shoulders or backs on tops) and some pretty details but can't take too much of it. Maybe that's the natural bit dominating...

Keep us updated on how you get on! Would be nice to have some nat ing inspiration.

Mumelie · 22/11/2013 20:28

I'm sure you are probably Inguene natural like in Inguene classic. My body shape fitted with that link that was recently posted re all the types (sorry can't remember who linked to it). Not so much on the height (I'm a fair bit taller than you) but more on the proportions. I was really well balanced in my measurements - how were yours? plus was totally soft curve no angular bits!

I'll try and post the Inguene sheet - not sure how to from my phone though Wink Might need to put the pc on!

Aquelven · 22/11/2013 20:41

Thank you, Beginner & Mumelie. That would be great if you could post a copy of the sheet.
My measurements were balanced apart from my height, being short. My bust & hips are exactly the same measurement & waist ten inches smaller. I'm totally soft curve as well, no angular bits, she said that, my shoulders are narrow & sloping. I'm a size 12 dress size though sometimes have to get 14 just in tops, especially if buttons which gape, though then they're often too big on the shoulder for me, so rarely buy front buttoned things.

I noticed the Season of the Witch posts but she'd removed her pictures before I saw the posts. Did this style look ok?

OP posts:
Aquelven · 22/11/2013 20:47

Bit depressing too was that I'm beginning to get the hang of the colour but it now seems most of my clothes are completely the wrong shape Confused I took a bag of stuff & everything, except one top,she said was wrong, mostly because the jumpers were too long, jacket too boxy etc.

OP posts:
BeginnerSAHM · 22/11/2013 20:57

Aquevelen - don't worry too much about that. I'm still going to wear long sloppy jumpers - I just like the look Wink. We don't have to follow the nat ing rules!!

Season does look lovely though. More ingenue than me but she certainly doesn't look remotely dated so that made me feel a lot better.

BeginnerSAHM · 22/11/2013 20:58

Sorry - Aquelven... Not sure why my iPhone is coming up with that!
