WhoKnickedMyName I think you'll find that many of the blues are common to both the spring & winter swatches so suit both. You can see on these two links...

Hi fellow springs.

I had my colours done back in the summer and I think I'm what you have all been referring to as a 'blue' spring. I can wear gold and silver jewellery (although I much prefer silver) and can't wear any of the palette that has any yellow in it.

My ** 100% are:
Dove grey
Oxford blue
Poppy
Flamingo pink
Leaf green
Violet
Bright blue
Hyacinth
Aqua
Turquoise
Aquamarine

All the peach/tan/yellow are not great for me.

I've been trying to build a better wardrobe since having it done. At the moment I'm sticking to grey and navy as my neutrals and then adding a splash of colour, mostly purple or bright blue although I did get a poppy red jumper before Christmas.

I'm looking forward to the spring clothes coming into the shops to offer a bit more choice. Recently I've bought a few good pieces from esprit and gap.

I'm not wearing any black or white on my top half but do have some favourite black trouse that I can't bear not to wear (sued leggings and faux leather) as my style is quite rock chick / casual, although I'm trying to soften that as I get older.

Hoping to have a style day in February so hope that won't prove too expensive on more items to complete my look, lol.

I'm new to MN so not sure how to do links and such but will figure it out and hopefully contribute more to "our" thread.

Mumelie · 05/01/2014 21:26

Hi Mrspeacock (love the name ) and welcome to the thread. I'm a blue spring too - same colours with ** as you. It does take ages to fully change your wardrobe to totally Spring colours - I'm not sure I'll ever get there (still like black).
The style day is really worth doing before you spend too much Wink

RipMacWinkle · 05/01/2014 21:28

Hi MrsPeacock and welcome! You do sound like a blue Springer to me.

Fingers crossed all the right colours are in their way but your timing would be great on the style day. You should be ready to rock and roll once you get your diagnosis.

I've just seen I got a name check.....very exciting!!! I have to say Gilly gives me loads of top tips so keep an eye out Whonickedmyname

Even if you're not planning the style day it's worth reading up online to try and get an idea who / what you are. Only because I know other Springer petite gals, all similar heights and builds. But totally different style types to each other, which does affect what we wear. I'm a natural gamine so I'm after pretty fitted stuff with a more relaxed vibe or natural materials. I'm currently thinking of this, for example, in the turquoise and hoping its nat gam

Hello Mrs Peacock Smile
Your ** colours are the same as mine. I'm a blue spring.

Perfect timing for your style day before the spring colours hopefully hit the shops. I still haven't purged my wardrobe of black, too many useful, loved things so I try to add something in a good colour. I seem to recall reading that blue spring is similar to CMB clear & bright & they have black in their swatches, don't they?
So I'm not throwing out good, expensive things till they need replacing, just not buying any more black. I love grey & navy so that's ok.

OP posts:
EustaciaVye · 06/01/2014 10:04

I am CMB clear and warm and that palette looks similar to mine. I have some more greens too I think

BeginnerSAHM · 06/01/2014 11:02

CMB clear and warm palette has black in! And that's a Spring in HoC subgroups are slightly different - think I'm a bright spring in HoC (or 'paintbox' maybe...?) and I'm definitely clear and warm in CMB. Make sense to me as I don't think I look dreadful in black if I have a bit of make-up on. (Although I look better in other colours!)

EustaciaVye · 06/01/2014 16:02

wow. just looked at the kettlewell site. I like...

Aquelven · 06/01/2014 16:42

I'm waiting for a couple of things I've ordered from the Kettlewell sale.
this in purple
And
this in emerald

Hello springs
I've gone a bit sale mad but expect lots will be returned (my credit card hopes so) Grin
Have ordered a couple of tops from House of Fraser, and a cardi I think!
www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Uttam+Boutique+Batwing+cardigan/188885435,default,pd.html
www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Linea+Essentia+l/s+twist+cowl+jersey+top/181957574,default,pd.html

www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Dickins+Jones+Ladies+knitted+button+front+cardigan/187356807,default,pd.html

Hoping something of it is worth keeping but thankfully free returns.
Am really enjoying rummaging through Hopefully's blog at the mo' and wishing I was a bit more Capsule and a bit less Sprawling in my wardrobe... not very good at considering a whole outfit and tend to buy bits that then don't work well. I dread to think how many charity shop 'bargains' are actually good colour + style. I think they are usually just one or the other!

BirdyBedtime · 09/01/2014 12:45

Hello again everyone.

I've been totally off Mumsnet pretty much since the end of November as I had eye surgery which led to complications (meaning looking at a computer screen in any form was impossible for weeks) and have only really been on the mend since Christmas week. Looking forward to catching up on posts and contributing again.

Hope you're well on the mend now Aque! and good luck with the job hunting Beginner.

Welcome to newbies on the thread.

Have bought a few bits in the sale (charcoal sweater dress from John Leewis and summer dress from Lands End (total bargain down from £90 to £35). Still on the search for grey boots though .......

Aquelven · 09/01/2014 14:25

Oh, Birdy! I'm do sorry to hear that, it sounds really painful! I hope your poor eye gets much better very soon. Thanks
Your dress was a bargain!

My foot's coming along ok, thanks. Went for a follow up check with the surgeon this morning, am out of cast & freshly bandaged. Was hoping the pin could come out & could chuck the crutches but he says it needs a bit longer so go back in two weeks.

Really like your choices Fooogle they're all very springy.

I've just recieved two cardigans from Woolovers sale, a charcoal & a brown.

OP posts:
Fooogle · 10/01/2014 21:25

Orders came today. Dress from me and me didn't look great...return. Also bit dark in 'winter navy'.
Most things going back to house of fraser... Top in papaya I think is great bright orange so a keeper. Don't know about everyone else but find online stuff a bit less of a buzz than rl shopping. All crumpled, over packaged and then the returns!... But still, can't go real shopping often as little ones to look after.any other top tips?
Style thinking style day may help me... Does it really help your shopping?
Hope you're still mending well aque and birdy x

EustaciaVye · 11/01/2014 07:48

I had a CMB style session and it validated a lot of what I already know. I did learn a bit about the type of fabrics I should wear.
I was told my body is an inverse triangle. But I didnt get a 'name" like ingenue or something and I am a bit jealous. Can someone summarise the different HOC styles?

jumpinghoops · 11/01/2014 08:12

Hello all...

Have been away for ages as have just moved into a house that's not had any reception and managed to lose my mobile in the process.

Happy New Year to you all, great to see lots of lovely links to look at. I've been buying loads and returning nearly everything, like you Foogle I find it almost impossible to shop in real shops and need to do lots of internet shopping. I think the style day has been very useful in terms of helping me think outside the stripy top/jeans box but finding things that tick the right boxes has been tricky especially as some things such as this [http://www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Clearance/Womens-Tops-T-shirts/3_4-Sleeved-Tops/WA446/Womens-Ella-Blouse.html Ella Blouse from Boden]] was lovely style-wise (I'm Classic Ing) but a too dark navy that did nothing for me.

I'll come back in a while and link to some of the things I did keep.

jumpinghoops · 11/01/2014 08:15

Sorry, Boden link above

EustaciaVye · 11/01/2014 20:54

I like that top jumpinghoops. I could never wear it as neck to high/norks too big.

Dug out my CMB style stuff. My make up style was classic/groomed. No labels for the clothes bit but the inference is classic clothes with bright colours.

Aquelven · 11/01/2014 21:45

Eustacia, this isn't HoC but it explains the styles that seem identical to me.

Thanks Aque -hope all goes well at your next visit. I spent most of December fairly miserable and stressed out which is really not good with 2 DCs in the run up to Christmas. It‘s both eyes which was even worse. But saw the consultant today and they're definitely on the right track now - bloody thyroid disease!!

Hope you're all settled in jumping.

I do a lot of internet shopping too (for the DCs as well) and the returns are a pain, but working with DCs and a DH who often works weekends mean that other than a quick sprint to the shops at lunchtime it's difficult to fit in.

I can't wait until summer (or at least what passes for summer up here) to wear my LE dress as I just love it. Have to make do with sweater dresses in the meantime ......

Fooogle · 15/01/2014 13:42

Birdy, glad they are on the right track. At least that must feel like progress?

Happy new home jumping. We are looking but not finding anything we can afford now in our area that gets us much more than we have... Sad

So, still admiring lots of clothes from afar...ordered quite a few landsend supima cotton cardis when they had loads off - down to £12.50 I think... waiting for them to come. Always a gamble with colour and I wasn't sure about the fit but we'll see. Any one else have these?

Today I am trialing a new lippy - Wet and Wild (bought via amazon...brand sounds very dodgy!) in pretty persimmon. Is pretty bright. Supposed to be red but pulls a bit more pink on my weird lips... ordered another called 24 carrot something or other and will keep you posted how orange it is, not come yet...

Booked in for my rerate in Feb... trying to collect a list of questions together.

Has anyone else found any good bargains for us springs? I also bought a tan leather (hmmm) skirt from ebay and a chocolate brown obi wrap belt...(neither have come yet) I am being a bit random at the moment! Found a cacharel dress in the charity yesterday. Don't know if it suits me but couldn't resist it.

How were the Kettlewell things Aque? Have they come yet?

WhoNickedMyName · 15/01/2014 14:05

Just a quick one because I'm in work, but I really love this blazer.

They don't have it in my size but I think it's a bargain!

Aquelven · 15/01/2014 14:34

Glad things are on the mend Birdy. I have thyroid trouble too, didn't know it could affect eyes though it seems to affect most else Confused

That blazer is a lovely colour, MyName but not my size either.

Fooogle yes, quite pleased with the Kettlewell stuff. Lovely fit, quite stretchy so not baggy at all, very form fitting & flattering. I like the satin collared shirt best & order another in coral.
I'm waiting for a couple of Woolites cardigans to be delivered at the moment that are in the sale.

OP posts:
Fooogle · 15/01/2014 15:53

Myname like the blazer to but not in my size either (10/12)... am a bit scared of buying fully coloured 'main things' too as scared I won't be able to wear them as easily as something navy or brown?

Glad kettlewell good aque... nothing seems to be in my size in the sale. Grrr

BeginnerSAHM · 15/01/2014 21:27

Hi Springs,

Agree myname - lovely blazer although I always feel a bit uncomfortable in them. I think it's brilliant though and would be tempted if they had my size. (Maybe the reason i don't feel right in jackets is something to do with being a natural ingenue? Wink I dunno.)

I've started a separate thread but, for those of you who don't read every single one on the S&B boards Wink, I'm going to NY with a v good friend (and some of her other good friends I don't know) at the end of Feb! We live in different countries now. Am very excited. So, I'm going to do a proper wardrobe sort and identify 'gaps' before I am let loose on the NY shops. Actually, hoping not to have hours of aimless shopping so a serious 'plan'/list must be the way to go. There's too much fun other stuff to do!

Also, am interviewing at the moment for jobs, which is bl**dy nerve-wrecking, so, if I get one by then, I reckon I'll deserve (and be more able to afford!) to treat myself a bit. Besides, I'll need to 'refresh' my suity wardrobe, won't I Grin? It's dominated by black suits and separates at the moment and I don't like bright colours with black, so I think that will be rather challenging!! (Lots of red lippy maybe... hmmm!)

Anyway, nothing much to add to the Spring thread - just popping on for a quick bump and to say hello.

Never bought anything from Kettlewell or Woolovers (isn't Woolite a laundry thing?!Wink) so am following the results of those purchases avidly, even if I'm not posting much.

Hope eyes and feet better Aquelven and Birdy... Here's to a healthy 2014...

(And a not-wasting-money-on-not-quite-right-clothes 2014 for me!)
