Hi Springs.
New thread, hopefully, with the following link to our old one....

Early Spring

RipMacWinkle · 27/12/2013 14:05

I'm planning to head out on Sunday. It's not a good time of year for Springers though. Too many jewel colours and black.

Mumelie · 27/12/2013 18:42

Well I'm back with a few bargains! Not all Spring colours though (you are right Rip - very bad time of year).

Phase Eight blue silk blouse - this is the most amazing blue IRL, much nicer than the photo! For nights out with indigo skinnies.

Phase Eight lace collar blouse - yes has a little black on but a great contrast and the cream lifts my sallow winter skin!

Phase Eight Denim Pencil Skirt - ok not one of our colours but far enough from face to live with. Great shaped skirt.

Cream Check Blouse Jasper Conran. Not 100% sure on this one but looked good over skinnies.

So obviously I didnt get any slobbing round the house clothes OR black boots! I also didnt make it any further than Debenhams!

Aquelven · 27/12/2013 20:04

Love all the Phase Eight things Smile
You did well to avoid black boots, they're still so tempting.

EustaciaVye · 29/12/2013 06:35

I just ordered these
turquoise top
another turquoise top
grey dress
grey shoes
Will see what they are like when they arrive...

butterfliesandflowers · 30/12/2013 20:47

Love all this talk of Phase 8 sale shopping - may look on internet later, haven't been myself and thinking I don't need much, but my thoughts are turning to make up especially for my eyes, trying to make my greyish blue eyes pop a bit more, any ideas?

Aquelven · 30/12/2013 23:07

Those are gorgeous Eustacia. I especially like the long sleeved top & the dress, stunning.

Butterflies I was told to wear the opposite colour on the colour spectrum to make eyes pop. For my turquoise eyes that would mean a very warm, reddish brown but I find that just makes my eyes look sore. So I stick to cool browns, taupe sort of shades. I'm not very adventurous. Grey shadow should work but tends to make me look even paler & a bit ill for some reason.
This is quite interesting
beautylovin.com/2012/02/make-your-eye-color-pop/

I'm getting withdrawal symptoms for the sales! Not allowed to drive till I get signed off in four more weeks!
Might have to resort to online but that means getting DH to do any returns Confused

OP posts:
EustaciaVye · 31/12/2013 10:06

butterflies - I was told a peachy eye colour over the whole area up to the brow. Then highlight under the brow with a lighter colour, and eyelid with browns or teal type colour depending on outfit. The peach makes a huge difference but you have to be frugal with it.

EustaciaVye · 31/12/2013 10:07

Fit with aquelvens advice too as peach/bluegrey contrast

Mumelie · 31/12/2013 20:41

Happy new year Springs!!!Grin !!!
We are having a quiet one for once just in watching tv and eating too much.

Interesting about eyeshadow colour and eye colour. I have Green/hazel eyes and find a bronze shade the best. The usually suggested purple looks good but I'm not keen for daytime. If I go for taupe I look ill. My DD has Blue eyes and spring colouring and looks great in gold shades - more a vintage gold than bright.
I went to the sales again today but again only managed one shop! Joules - bright blue blouse, leaf Green jumper and bright blue tunic with red flowers on. Looking forward to spring now and wearing more colourful clothes.
Have a great evening everyone Grin

Aquelven · 31/12/2013 21:04

Happy New Year, Mumelie & everyone Smile

Quiet one for us too, just staying in.

Those things you've bought sound good. Is Joules a good source of spring colours? We don't have a shop anywhere near so it isn't one I know.
I'm knitting a fluffy cream fitted tunic to wear with skinny jeans.

OP posts:
Mumelie · 31/12/2013 21:09

hi Aque - hope your healing well?
Joules is brilliant for Spring colours. Think the style can be an aquired taste and I tend to prefer the plain jersey items. Along Boden lines really. The sizing is big and quality usually good. They often have good offers on 3 for 2 etc.

Aquelven · 31/12/2013 21:49

Thanks, Mumelie Smile . I'll look online, there's so little spring stuff around. I see Kettlewell have a bit of a sale on so was toying with trying something from there as my consultant really rated them.
My foot's coming along, thank you for askingSmile I had the splint removed yesterday, still got the pins in & all bandaged up , I see the surgeon in a couple of weeks.

butterfliesandflowers · 03/01/2014 22:36

Thank you all, have used loads of golds but getting bored, will look for some peach Smile

Aquelven · 03/01/2014 23:35

Have ordered three things from Kettlewell sale, not sure how the sizing will turn out, shall see.
Really wanting to go & visit the cashmere outlets in Scotland again!

Hi all,

Loving having a nose at the links to all your springy purchases. I recently got a mint velvet haul... Stuff I wanted for ages that is now reduced. A cream long sleeve top with lace around the neck area and at the bottom, some charcoal 'yoga pants', a black (I know, I know) l/s wool dress with lacy bits (am embracing the ingenue thing..) and a grey knitted 'sweatshirt' with gold thread in it. And a boring long sleeve charcoal layering topBlush. (All linked before I think so won't bore you again!!)

Need to start thinking about a work wardrobe again now... Interviews coming up and on a serious 'must get a job' mission!!

Any more sale purchases?

Oh yes, I got the Alex Monroe 'little feather' gold necklace from husband for Christmas. Totally love it! Ticks the Spring, Natural and Ingenue boxes!! This one!

WhoNickedMyName · 04/01/2014 16:36

Happy New Year. Can I join please?

I had my HOC colour day today and I'm a paintbox spring. I'm going to have a nosey back thru this thread to see what you're all buying. My little colour swatch leather book is lovely but I think it's going to take me a while to be able to walk into a shop or look online and know immediately if something is in my colours or not.

Aquelven · 04/01/2014 16:44

Welcome to our thread WhoNickedMyName Smile

What are your **100% colours? I'm not sure what a Paintbox Spring is, did your consultant say?
It isn't easy recognising the colours I agree, is it the right red or green Hmm

OP posts:
Aquelven · 04/01/2014 16:45

Your necklace is really pretty, Beginner Smile

OP posts:
WhoNickedMyName · 04/01/2014 17:34

My ** 100% colours are...
Bright Navy
Coral
Salmon
Gernaium
Flamingo Pink
Corn Yellow
Bright Blue
Hyacinth

I'm not really sure what a paintbox spring means, but from reading the thread there seems to be a lot of people who are 100% * on one range of colours like blue, so I'm guessing that maybe paintbox is 100% * on a mix of all of the colours?

I've just ordered the Edie Coral cardigan from Boden that someone linked to on page 1 (sorry, I've forgotten who it was Blush).

I got a £200 gift card from FIL for Christmas for Karen Millen, and ordered 3 tops all in black or very dark navy, so they'll all have to be returned now. If anyone could help a 5ft 2, size 6-8 paintbox spring spend my gift card I'd be really grateful for any links Grin.

WhoNickedMyName · 04/01/2014 17:34

oooh sorry my * * sent that into bold, duh!

BeginnerSAHM · 04/01/2014 17:52

Thanks Aquelven!!

And welcome whonickedmyname! That was me re the Edie coral cardigan! It's quite handy, have to say... And v cheap!

Think those are close to my double stars too.

Gillybobs · 04/01/2014 19:11

Welcome whonicked, ripmacwinkle is a 6-8 and 5ft I think so she is your woman! Have you thought about the style day? It is another 100 quid or so but so worth it, really helps you get the styles to buy right.

I'm a paintbox too, means we suit the strongest spring colours, my ** are very similar to yours. I do wear a lot of navy and charcoal grey though, just tend to use my colours as splashes. I've a classic clothing personality so all the brights together are just no good on me!! Not grown up enough Grin

Aquelven · 04/01/2014 21:23

That's a good spread of colours
I'm 5'1" but size 12 & never shopped at Karen Millen, sorry. What a lovely, generous FiL you have though Smile

OP posts:
Mumelie · 05/01/2014 16:46

Hi everyone - and a special hello to newbie whonicked!

Love that necklace too beginner very classy.

I've now had my fill of the sales and am on a self imposed spending ban and diet for the next 3 months! I cant usually go a week without picking something up somewhere so this is a real challenge for me.

Last new bits in the sales have been;

White Stuff jumper with sequin Peter Pan Collar.

a few bits from Joules Jumper and tunic

I'm going to concentrate on making up new outfits with what I have. I've cleared out the bits that are not right today and am going to try and hang up outfits for the whole week at work this evening. Does anyone else do this? I have to the night before else I'd take forever getting ready of a morning.

WhoNickedMyName · 05/01/2014 16:58

I'm not really thinking about doing the style day Gilly, maybe at some point in the future I'll consider it. I'll stalk keep my eyes peeled for ripmacwinkle and see what she's buying Grin.

I've put all of the right coloured stuff together in my wardrobe and there is woefully little of it.

I bought a couple of casual tops today in Next, I'm not usually a fan of their stuff but I got this and this. I just can't get my head around spring coloured blues at all... maybe there's nothing in the shops yet but every blue I've looked at seems like a winter blue and not really warm at all Confused.

I'm after a chocolate/gold coloured scarf. And I've returned all of my Karen Millen black and navy stuff and am thinking of ordering these instead.
