Large tan handbag... Again

I need something large (A4 notebook large), leather, shoulder, under £200 and tan, or at least partly tan.

ALL ideas gratefully received- have grown sick of trying to find one!

Clarkes do some lovely bags.
Have a look at this tan bays water rip off - very inexpensive for leather and is a minuscule 59.99£

Or this one which looks like that radley one but is 79.99£ lovely leather in this one.

INeedSomeHelp · 26/10/2013 22:17

I have this and I love it but it might be more slouchy than you're looking for.

tethersend · 26/10/2013 22:24

Hmm, not sure if I prefer this one now...

OP posts:
tethersend · 26/10/2013 22:31

Thanks Venus- the first one I don't like at all and is very small; the second one's ok, but too long a strap and too square. I like something to fit snugly under my arm IYSWIM.

Re the Mimiberry bags I got mine in the sale! Waited for a few months though but the reduction was worth it!

tethersend · 26/10/2013 22:34

And thanks Ineed, but yes, that one is too slouchy...

I think it's between this one and this one...

OP posts:
tethersend · 26/10/2013 22:34

Which one did you get and how much for, Theonly?

OP posts:
cardamomginger · 26/10/2013 23:02

I quite like that Fiorelli bag in black spacegirl. Sorry to crash, tethers.

MrsSheepiness · 26/10/2013 23:15

Tethers we were in bicester village two weeks ago and they had an additional 20% off in Radley. They stock the bag you linked to, and the chocolate brown colour way was only £120, not too sure about the tan, I think that was £150. It might be worth calling them, checking the prices and perhaps they will post it out if you aren't close by.

VenusDeWillendorf · 26/10/2013 23:36

Ok this one isn't leather, but looks ok? From Clarkes again 40£

And this one is leather, but has a contrasting handle? 60£

This is more of a shopper but has a durable leather exterior 70£

I like that radley taplow too!!

Theonlyoneiknow · 27/10/2013 09:46

I Got the mimiberry Arthur but they don't seem to have it any more, it was down to £160 if I remember rightly

tethersend · 27/10/2013 11:09

Thank Venus, but it absolutely has to be a leather shoulder bag.

I'm not keen on the others.

Can't find a picture of the Arthur, Theonly.

I think it's between these two Radley ones... Does anyone have an opinion on which to get? I've ordered the Newbridge one, but am umming and ahhing about the taplow now...

Yes tethers - that's the Radley sale one I thought had the most potential! Great price - I'm very tempted by the dark brown.
An A4 page is 29x21 - that bag is 34x26..depth is 10...I think it's workable though you might not get a whole lot more in around it?

tethersend · 27/10/2013 11:17

You're a bloody genius, dingdong.

I will report whether it fits an A4 folder once it arrives; I don't need much else in there, in fact I'm trying to cut down the amount of crap I carry around as I broke my shoulder last month and can't carry the weight I used to lug around. So folder + not much else = A Good Thing

OP posts:
tethersend · 27/10/2013 11:18

Which one do you prefer? I'm assuming you mean the Newbridge?

OP posts:
dingdong3 · 27/10/2013 12:30

Yes, the Newbridge Large Shoulder. The Taplow would probably work too but it's more slouchy and more ££ too. It's a fab sale. I'm actually considering returning the Boden one...

mewkins · 27/10/2013 13:03

I much prefer the first of those two. I like the rounded corners.

tethersend · 27/10/2013 14:50

Ohhh, is the taplow slouchy IRL?

That would out me off, TBH. I thought I'd found my perfect bag from Nat and Nin, and when it arrived it turned out they'd employed a taxidermist to dress the bags for photographing- it was just a mess of floppy (although buttery soft), cotton backed leather and needed to be stuffed with a duvet to even see the shape.

OP posts:
Rattitude · 27/10/2013 15:49

You could also have a look at Tuscany Leather. They are reasonably priced and the leather is really nice.

I think I prefer their slouchy bags but they have a couple of structured ones.

Here is one.

Here is another.

killpeppa · 27/10/2013 16:01

fossil:)

tvstand · 27/10/2013 16:06

What happened to the one you bought last year from Amazon, the Chloeish one?

You were really pleased with that one. Name changer, not stalker!

MuffinTumMum · 27/10/2013 16:10

Jones The Bootmaker has great shoppers in for about £80 I think. Beautiful tan leather.

tethersend · 27/10/2013 16:20

tvstand- see above; I'm fickle Grin

Really not liking the Tuscany Leather, Jones or Fossil ones. Sorry.

Any other opinions on the radley bags?

OP posts:
Housesellerihope · 27/10/2013 16:33

Strongly considering the radley newbridge myself and I think you should go for one as well - it's gorgeous and classic whereas I think the more rectangular satchel shape is so popular right now it could date.

Could I please hijack with a quick question to ask which colour of the newbridge I should get? I almost always wear black shoes and my trench coat is olive. Would the honey one go or should I get cocoa, or fig (which looks black in the photo but probably isnt)? Know I'm not getting the green. Thank you!

dingdong3 · 27/10/2013 17:34

Yes, I think the Newbridge would be more rigid...the other one seems to be a bit floppy on the top. I've just packaged up my Boden one. You're not the only fickle one here :)
