I have ranted before about how Cos makes me look like a particularly unfetching Oompa Loompa....

BD I have an email from Clarks which says enter "BDAY" at checkout for 20% off. Dated 7/10 so still valid for a while I expect... if you want to go into a store pm me your email address and I'll forward it to you...

Cremolafoam · 08/10/2013 23:04

Gorgeous bag BTM - lush colour and shape. Wel gel.

I have seen the navy knee boots in the 123854356th boden catalogue I've been sent this week and want want want. navy suedeEnvy. If I don't eat this month I might be able to afford them .
Could just wear them about the house with the stretch loungewear I'm currently modelling.Wink

Blackduck · 09/10/2013 08:32

Boo - code doesn't work.... (that is probably a good thing!)

addle · 09/10/2013 08:59

Lovely, lovely bag, BTM. will you be sporting it on 23rd for 'settling in' session?

Blackduck · 09/10/2013 09:11

I have realised code doesn't work becuase I am not spending enough money Grin

BTM - sorry not a bag lady, so I look at that and go 'oh, a bag' :)

Do you have glasses at the mo (I do, but think a. I need a stronger pair and b. a pair that actually fit and don't slide off my nose...)

bigTillyMint · 09/10/2013 11:54

I may, addle! Hope it will be a useful evening....
How is your DD getting on? I was reqding a bit of the emptynesters thread but had to close it - too much to worry about!

BD I have cheap off the shelf reading glasses (as advised by the optician) but fear I need to get the next strength up. DH is in denial about his eyesight - needs them for long distance, which seems to be most of the time - warching footy matches, TV, driving...

lalsy · 09/10/2013 14:42

Not usually a bag lover...but that one is gorgeous, BTM. I got some long blue suede boots (Clarks) last winter and felt like Errol Flynn (using a lot of imagination and poor eyesight).

bigTillyMint · 09/10/2013 15:03

Thanks, lalsy!

And BD, I meant to say, I always wear mine on the end of my nose so I can peer over them - true teacher-style!

Long blue suede boots sound lushSmile

I have to endure another hour of my mother. Which is hard even when she is in the kitchen and I am in my office.

hello all Smile

Kept forgetting to look for "Crepe Papers" Blush

Going out for lunch today so must go and put some slap on in a bit, although am never sure these days whether it just accentuates the crepiness Hmm

Still, in more cheerful mode, I bought a dark green lace tunic thing in Oasis yesterday and I really like it.

herbaceous · 10/10/2013 11:41

I just bought a dark green item too! A drapey fronted top from New Look, bought in a panic as I'm going out tonight in London's Trendy Shoreditch with DP's smart work friends. The top looked highly unflattering to the 'curvy' on the hanger, but is in fact very good, going in and out in all the right places, while not accentuating any unfortunate bulges.

Feel utterly bushed today, for no good reason. Perhaps I'll drink some water. Out tonight and tomorrow night, then five-year-old birthday party on Saturday, and six friends round on Sunday. Zzzzzz...

motherinferior · 10/10/2013 11:49

I am pitching into the void. But at least I am being rejected nicely, which hasn't always been the case. Professionally or, ahem, personally Wink

Morning all - I have just put on a dark green shetland wool jumper following an abrupt fall in temperature. Heating going on this weekend methinks.

Blackduck · 10/10/2013 12:27

My all new fancy remote controlled boiler seriously considered licking into life, but decided against it ... In other news I crumbled and bought a dishwasher.... (So no boots, new bag or clothes here for a while - crumples up Clark's 20% voucher)
Another school to visit tonight.... (Losing will)

Blackduck · 10/10/2013 12:28

alto1 · 10/10/2013 20:59

Nearly cried this morning when realised I have let sick car be taken to garage with my favourite gloves in the boot Sad Fingers went numb on steering wheel for first time this year.

Small victory over inanimate object to report, though. I'm driving the old car (which has been used mainly to take garden rubbish to the dump lately) and succeeded in getting the roof bars off yesterday - something DH has not been able to manage in 6 (six, IV) years Grin Had just assumed that if he couldn't do it, it must be insuperably difficult.

There's a lesson in there somewhere, isn't there?

alto1 · 10/10/2013 23:10

Apologies for Roman numeral typo. I can't quite believe how long it was myself. (VI yrs)

CointreauVersial · 10/10/2013 23:24

I've been Mrs Busy from Busytown this week, and we're off to Derbyshire this weekend, at lovely cousin's wedding. I'm having my usual what-to-wear wobble, particularly as I'll be with SIL who always looks super-glam. I can't resort to excessive alcohol consumption either, as the DCs will be dragging us early doors on Sunday to Alton Towers. Hangover and rollercoasters not an advisable combo, methinks.

hattymattie · 11/10/2013 06:58

Have fun CV - quite fancy a family wedding as it would bring together sides of the family I haven't laid eyes on for years and my DC's could meet their second cousins (my cousin's children). I have a sinking feeling that the next time we meet up is going to be funerals. Sad.

Have decided to abandon plans for haircut today in the face of rain and freezing weather.

Heating officially going on tomorrow when DH has purged the radiators. Smile

bigTillyMint · 11/10/2013 07:04

CV, wedding sounds great. Reduced alcohol consumption/hangover and Alton Towers less so!

Alto, DH is not renowned for his practical skills, nor perseverance where perfection is required. He failed to mend DS's puncture successfully this week, whereupon DS was not happy and surfed the net for guidance and forced DH to try again using the tips he had found. Funnily enough, it workedSmile

I am looking forward to a night out with the gals tonight. And a quiet weekend! DS is out to a sleepover from school tonight and DD is off to one after gym tomorrow - yay!

bigTillyMint · 11/10/2013 07:06

Hatty, our heating is on alreadyShock!

bigTillyMint · 11/10/2013 08:09

They are moving cars on our road - apparently they are resurfacing the footpath on one side of the road onlyConfused It is a longish road and they will be taking 2 weeks to do it. I forsee a lot of parking problemsSad

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/10/2013 08:43

Shit week. A former boyfriend of mine died - so sad for his family and friends, particularly his wife and mother. His mother's posts on his FB tribute page are just too hard to read. My mother rang last night to tell me that her closest friend had died suddenly. I said I would go to the funeral with her, the logistics of which are daunting - she won't drive herself (thankfully) and won't insure me for her car (it would cost £20 a year to add me to her insurance; I have offered to pay and she has refused), so it will be an interesting journey of trains and taxis to cover a 20 mile journey.
