A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

Bloody hell!..Grin I shouldn't really be let loose on a keyboard should I Grin

Drywhiteplease · 17/09/2013 16:10

Foxy it seems I have invented a new move for your yoga master class...For best effect perform after a large dinner! Grin .......I think I need to have a lie down in a darkened room, the stress of dealing with VIRGIN MEDIA has obviously effected me!

Sleepwhenidie · 17/09/2013 16:11

On the contrary Dry I think you should try typing faster Grin

Drywhiteplease · 17/09/2013 16:14

Sleep haven't you got a diamond encrusted snuff box daaaaaarling, everyone has one of those , I keep mine with my gold plated wig powder puff and ruby Beauty spot applicator ! Wink

mignonette · 17/09/2013 16:17

Sleep Oh go on and rub it in....Grin. I want to see that exhibition. Is it any good?

Grin at blotus position. That's me after an ice cream breakfast. Which is also known as the breakfast of champions (Now I have stopped having a cig and a bar of chocolate)....

I saw lots of cobalt today. QueenC would've been in blue heaven. Nearly bought a beautiful cobalt T shirt from Dotty P online here. There's a nice cobalt vest from American Apparel too on my pin.

shopafrolic · 17/09/2013 16:34

Bloody toddlers!!!!! Yesterday DS wouldn't hold my hand walking to the Post Office and nearly got run over (exaggerating but you get the point). Cue long chat and lots of reciting of "what must we always do when we walk along the road?" "HOLD MUMMY'S HAND"
Today. Head to Post Office - massive tantrum in street, screaming in Post Office and me leaving, carrying him kicking and screaming under my arm saying "if you're going to behave like a baby, I will treat you like a baby". Everyone in this bloody village thinks I'm a shite mum. He's crying in the other room, I'm sat on the stairs crying.
One of those days obviously but f@ck me when does this start getting better?
Wish I was at the V&A :)

Shop repeat after me " I am a great Mum, I am a great Mum......" Toddlers are challenging, you did the right thing, he will probably hold your hand next time if he knows what's good for him . People think wimpy Mothers who let their little angels are crap mothers, they'll be admiring you for sticking to your guns believe me. It will get easier....even teenagers aren't this bad.
Xxxxxx Brew Cake and HUGS

Drywhiteplease · 17/09/2013 16:40

"Who let their little angels get away with murder" I meant ....

shopafrolic · 17/09/2013 17:35

It's easier negotiating with CFOs and CEOs than with a toddler I swear to God! Thanks Dry

OP posts:
mignonette · 17/09/2013 17:40

Oh Shop It WILL get better (until possibly the teenage years Grin). Too many people over negotiate w/ toddlers. The street is not the UN and they need to be safe. If they are not old enough to keep themselves safe then you do it just as you indeed did. The scariest thing for toddlers is a changing boundary and I for one would have applauded you. Sometimes you have to impose 'martial law'. Flowers Cake Wine [tea] [valium] [phenergan for the toddler] Sorry that there's no icon for the last two.

Decameron · 17/09/2013 18:26

Poor Mignonette.

DD2 often behaves that way, Shop. Bet no one thinks you are a bad mother, everyone knows what toddlers are like. It's almost Wine o'clock and bed time, hang in there.

santamarianovella · 17/09/2013 18:31

aww shop you are not a bad mother, kids behavior is so unpredictable, you did the right thing, you sound like someone who cares about their dc, my dd does this kind of thing constantly, she once had the biggest tantrum in waitrose, had to abandon my shopping and walk out,i was in tears the whole walk home.

[dry],i think i need the blotus tonight! first heavy autumn dinner here!

did a bit of shopping today, will link later!

mignonette · 17/09/2013 18:32

Are you feeling a little better Shop?

MarshaBrady · 17/09/2013 18:41

Shop you did well. Really you did, I know it's hard sometimes. I hope you're ok.

Just fully briefed dh on order of bed time routine and legged it. Turn off bath.. Deal with washing.. Yada I always prep everything. I'm sure he can cope without my over concern.

MarshaBrady · 17/09/2013 18:44

Ah awful to fall over Mig, you poor thing!

Sleep that does sound zen and lovely indeed. I am going to have that day this week- a zen one.

LinusDKD · 17/09/2013 19:19

shop don't be too hard on yourself! As the others have said, you did the right thing. But I know from experience that dealing with a tantrumming toddler is not easy.

I once had to carry a kicking and screaming DS out of our local shopping center but I couldn't care less what the other people thought.

If I see a mum or dad dealing with a toddler who's having a meltdown in public I always try to give them my 'I know what you're going through, don't take it to heart' look.

mig ouch! That sounds painful. Your story reminded me of an American friend of mine when I was a student in London. Every time she saw something like your wet floor she would say: 'that's a lawsuit waiting to happen'.

dry your typos are hilarious!

sleep your day sounds amazing! Soo Envy as the museums here are pretty boring.

umlauf nice dress!

Turquoiseblue · 17/09/2013 19:21

shop you re not a bad Mum well done for seeing it through with DS. Toddlers are exhausting and adorable all rolled into one, it does get better. Are you re doing all the right actions to ensure it does, becaause unless taught stuff like that it wont get better! My DS used have my heart broken we had to have firm boundaries and rules for the street, i had an episodes like yours - including leaving out local supermarket after he 'disappeared' for the longest 5 minutes of my life... it worked though I never had to repeat it.

mig hope you feel ok after the fall, thte next day can be worse after something like that - hot bath tonight!

anni totally understand on the pin board, I had assumed it was a general public one I just hadnt spotted.

I have found a fabulous app that the dc s are currently engrossed in making jigsaws with, it plays lovely relaxing music as they play it they have been engrossed Peacfull for the last 20 mins, no quarrels or quibbles!

In contrast to your experiences DRy. Sleep and Mig, i ve just experienced the best customer service ever! I had ordered a dress from Me and Em in the summer, not worn it until a family party last week, DH noticed te seam on the skirt was unravelling in 2 places, I emailed them, they didnt have it in stock but sent another to try, or offered if I liked to send it back they would get it repaired. I m so impressed. I ve bought their stuff before when in London, but I ve not had experience of their online service, I m a huge fan now! Now all need to decide is whether to keep the new season dress - not sure about colour o me or send back the other to see if they can get the seam repaired.

i ve also ordered this sesun dress

mignonette · 17/09/2013 19:43

I have a floor mark on my new Choos Sad. How can I remove it? It is like a black smear near the sides of the toe.

Turq That is indeed wonderful service. WELL DONE ME & EM! I like that dress as it reminds me of the original Missoni 'space dye' that they pioneered. It is very slinky, that dress.

BrandyAlexander · 17/09/2013 20:36

Oh dear Mig!

Poor you Shop, hugs.

I think ds has finally fallen asleep! Hurray!

shopafrolic · 17/09/2013 20:38

Thanks everyone. You're all fab. We had a better time this evening, better behaviour at dinner and bath time. But we live on a really busy road and he is so fiercely independent it scares me. I refuse to be beaten and am going to try again in the morning. He's usually in a better mood then so perhaps we'll have success (which I can the reward?).......
Have fun Marsha I have to leave DH a schedule every time I have a day in London - he loves a list :)
Mig how are you doing? I totally sympathise. I slipped off my Ash Jalouse on the floor in a big store, v embarrassed and sore
Linus it's the not caring what people think that I'm so bad at!
Turquoise that app sounds dreamy :)

Evening. I've being trying to keep up with you all during the day but haven't had a chance to post.

mom hope your face is ok.

mig hope your head and shoes are ok. Don't buy that dp tee. I had it in cobalt and it went a very funny shape in the wash. Saying that the grey one I had has washed fine but has finally died as it has a big hole in the usual place by my jean buckle.

one hope surgery went ok

amber any purchases to report?

shop I doubt that anyone thinks you're a bad mother. Have you tried reins? I've got one of those little ladybird backpack things. Dd calls it her lead Grin

dry I won't e getting confused. I'm so over cobalt dresses and am very happy with the westwood!

liberty is dh talking to you yet? My dh doesn't yet know about the boots. I figured there's no point telling him until I know whether they're keepers or not. They've been dispatched!!!!

shopafrolic · 17/09/2013 20:40

Mig no idea about the marks on shoes but since they are Choos I'd get advice from a cobbler rather than trying a DIY job?

OP posts:
mignonette · 17/09/2013 20:41

I love these from Celtic & Co.

I saw a gorgeous ivy green pair from GAP last year that I could have married so much did I love them. I have a similar style from ACNE that are two years old but they are a bit too 'perfect' and won't scuff. They are also smooth leather and i really think you need a bit of nubuck or suede to get that proper look w/ the jean turned up.

mignonette · 17/09/2013 20:43

Queen I'll take your advice on that cobalt T. And Shop I'll take them to the cobbler tomorrow who I respect immensely because he has kept my Bikers 'alive' for over ten years now. I love clothes and new clothes but I also like to keep my classics going for as long as possible. I try not to be wasteful and if I find an item I like, I'm not bothered about getting a new one of it each season.

mignonette · 17/09/2013 20:45

Shop I used reins and my kids loved it when i swung them around like a tote bag!
