I did it!

I have just finished the last bit of paid work on my plate. This is more than slightly disturbing!

Stropperella · 26/09/2013 10:17

We have mad-bonkers deadlines all the way until 9am on Monday morning. And then nuffink. I shouldn't be on MN, but I am struggling with my positive happy-happy-joy-joy outlook since dh slammed some work of mine he was editing yesterday. So I am having a pointless and self-destructive rebellion consisting of online faffing and muttering about getting a job collecting trolleys in the supermarket car park.

Cremolafoam · 26/09/2013 11:15

One of these was the first album I bought I think. It is sitting here warped and bendy due to being stored in a student flat against a hearing pipe.

Mi sympathy re roof
Stropps you are completely justified.

That's me off to the hospital now.
Will be back next week hopefully- A New Woman.Confused

Stropperella · 26/09/2013 11:29

All the best, Crem. Hope it goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

herbaceous · 26/09/2013 11:33

Ooh yes, Crem, hope all goes well, and you get to have lots of lovely sponge and custard for pudding while in hospital.

hattymattie · 26/09/2013 12:00

Crem Thanks for hospital - not sure what you're in for but hope it goes OK.

On the embarrasing albums front - you Adam and the Ants and Blondie people are clearly much younger than us Abba gals. By the way I heard Don't Give Up on Us Baby on the radio the other day - I thought it sounded quite nice and sang along nostalgically.

LCHammer · 26/09/2013 12:03

The 'Now...' Complications have reached no. 85. That's the one DD got for her 6th yesterday.

MI, have you got stuff in the pipeline? They'll probably all come at once. Good luck with the haircut. I hate the foamy haircolourants. They're messier than the more gloopy stuff.

LCHammer · 26/09/2013 12:04

Complications = compilations

herbaceous · 26/09/2013 12:06

I bloody loved David Soul, and Don't Give Up On Us Baby. I remember him being all soft focus on a stool on ToTP.

hattymattie · 26/09/2013 12:17

I remember Now 1.

On a hair note - I have bought my hair colour - having cracked and decided not to go grey after all - and am waiting for the builders to go as do not want to risk being seen as I walk around with plastic wrapped round my head.

Stropperella · 26/09/2013 12:38

I'm 48, Hatty, but I never liked Hutch, only Starsky Grin. I didn't start buying music until I was a snarly teen. Although I did also have a large number of ELO albums that I didn't admit to in public. I still have them and an embarrassingly extensive knowledge of their back catalogue.

bigTillyMint · 26/09/2013 12:56

CremoFlowers hope it all goes well!

bigTillyMint · 26/09/2013 12:58

I didn't like either of them - God knows how I bought that singleConfused

I have never really fancied any pop-stars. Well, maybe David Essex when I was 10!

QueenQueenie · 26/09/2013 13:05

Just catching up...

My first "LP" was T Rex, Ride a White Swan, 79p from W H Smiths, bought with saved up pocket money. How cool was I? But my first single purchase was Terry Jacks(?), Seasons in the Sun... "We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun... but the joy has all gone and now black clouds are here..." Not so cool.

Crem, wishing you all the best for a successful op and a speedy recovery.

Very sorry to hear about roof, hair and work related woes. Now worried that the curse of the holey roof will descend on me too... Go grey crepeys, no more hair dye traumas!

QQ, if I could look as fabulous as you, I would. But so much of my flippin' identity is built on being a redhead. Without the colour, I would just be cross, not Temperamental Grin

I did post a good luck to Crem but machine ate it.

I do hope lots of work arrives at once, but have a recession-linked gloom about it. What I would very much like is for an agent to ring me up with tears of joy at the book submission I've sent them, saying this is exactly what they've been looking for, and to negotiate me a prompt, lucrative and high-profile deal but I suspect this too is unlikely as is not a bonkbuster or celeb memoir.

herbaceous · 26/09/2013 13:25

That's what I want too, MI, but I have neglected to actually write a book.

And yes QQ. You look stylish and suave with your grey pixie cut and, I must say it, amazing skin. I'd just look like a cross lesbian. Though I was very inspired by those amazing elderly crepeys on Fabulous Fashionistas the other day. Their grey hair was brilliant, but they had a definite style to go with it, rather than 'slightly bobbly and saggy supermarket clothing'.

Stropperella · 26/09/2013 14:02

What I would is like is for someone to ring me up and announce that a long-lost relative has died and left me all their money and I shall never have to work again. Then I could set about doing a job I'd really like to do, like, um, saving orangutans or something without worry about the family starving to death.

Stropperella · 26/09/2013 14:05

I am still going with the going grey. I feel that I can play the mad old witch role really well, so grey frizzy hair will just be complementing that.

Stropperella · 26/09/2013 14:06

"without worryING"

hattymattie · 26/09/2013 14:39

I'm 49 Stropp's - actually I've just given up and tell everybody I'm 50 - getting into practice and I loved Hutch not Starsky - I do remember the whole class being divided on this issue. QQ - I loved Seasons in the Sun.

I had my hair really short over the summer which I loved - especially for swimming but not sure if I should grow it for winter or not. I'm not sure it'll be the same when I'm not tanned and wearing my sunglasses - I may just look blokey. (This is mainly academic as it's not actually going to manage to grow that long in three months). Hmm

herbaceous · 26/09/2013 14:45

I'm the opposite - I had my hair longish for the summer, so I could tie it up in the heat, but am now considering getting it actually cut in an actual style for the winter.

hattymattie · 26/09/2013 14:51

Stropp's I'd like to do something like that - I guess we'll have to leave it to Prince William.

Stropperella · 26/09/2013 15:31

I should like to work with Birut? Galdikas, but I think I've missed the boat on that one.

Blackduck · 26/09/2013 16:30

Good Luck Cremo!!
Fingers crossed.....

addle · 26/09/2013 17:48

Good luck Cremo!

my first single was either Monster Mash or Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves. I know, I know
