Novice beautiful, I love a hand painted kitchen.....mine's cream with everything else shiny black (granite, range,American fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, bin) not good for someone who hates smears!!!!Grin what's your new one like though?

mignonette · 27/08/2013 22:20

You'll simply have to take it w/ you Novice. Beautiful. Mine is beech w/ black work surfaces and duck egg blue walls. Loads of free standing bits in it too and big scrubbed pine Downton scullery table. I used to have a chaise longue in it too by the radiator but tired of it being a schoolbag/coats/newspaper/any old tat everyone was too lazy to put away repository....

I need a new fridge though. Deeply resent spending £££ on white goods though.

Drywhiteplease · 27/08/2013 22:20

Oh QueenC wait until they're at secondary school in adult shoes Sad
2 pairs school shoes
2 pairs trainers
I pair enormous rugby boots
I pair riding boots
Shock

QueenCadbury · 28/08/2013 06:40

That'll be great dry especially as I'll have 3 of them Grin. Dd1 is only 7 yet a size 2 already so nearly in adult shoes! She has some idea that when she reaches a 5 that she will share my converse Hmm.

Anyway I had a shitty night sleep due to dd2 waking lots. Let's hope she sleeps better tonight in her travel cot. I'm also premenstrual but how nice to wake up to a new arrivals email from gap. I've ordered navy cords. There's 15% off and I figured that they'll sell out quickly so can't risk waiting for a better discount.

QueenCadbury · 28/08/2013 06:54

When I was awake overnight and thinking about clothes I decided that I want a classic little black dress for my 40th? Boring? Sleep deprived madness?

Sleepwhenidie · 28/08/2013 07:50

Beautiful kitchen Novice I can see why you'll be sad to leave it. You could get another one in new house though? this is my kitchen, quite different from Smallbone style, but I love it, a joy to cook or just hang out in, everything exactly how and where I want it Smile.

Queen LBD could be good and would make hunting more straightforward but are you sure you want to restrict yourself?

LinusDKD · 28/08/2013 07:54

All this kitchen porn makes me want to have a new kitchen as well!

Drywhiteplease · 28/08/2013 07:59

Lovely too Sleep ( Turquoise this is what I call research!)
Funnily enough the things like most in my kitchen are my black Wesco bin ( love the snap) and my Union Jack Roberts radio. weirdo

Drywhiteplease · 28/08/2013 08:02

Sleep do you have the glass roof? I love those, so cool.

Sleepwhenidie · 28/08/2013 08:14

Yes Dry, the glass roof one. I love that and also having two dishwashers .

MarshaBrady · 28/08/2013 08:15

Love the kitchens. I've always thought I'd love a Plain English kitchen but seeing Sleep's modern one has made me think hmm.

Fun to choose sparkling new things to go in it too.

BrandyAlexander · 28/08/2013 08:23

QueenC, while you can never go wrong with a LBD, but would be a shame not to try out some colour for a big occasion.

Dry, actually new kitchen looks very similar to current one.Smile New one is also custom built shaker style but could do with repainting. you have made me think about it properly..... I will ask the guy who hand painted our current kitchen to repaint it before we move in. When he did our current kitchen, he was there for a week.

mignonette · 28/08/2013 08:24

Lovely Sleep. I spend most of my time in my kitchen. My proper kitchen is lovely and big whereas the city flat is a galley kitchen from Ikea although still nice because i love to cook and so have loads of equipment to store.

You'll all look back to those years of choosing children's clothes w/ nostalgia (if not the terrible cost of it) when they are grown. Its when they turn up looking like Miss Haversham does a porn shoot that you'll especially get nostalgic!

We also had a disturbed night Queen and am wondering whether the Americans are 'tooling up' for Syria because loads of activity to and from the local airbase all night w/ planes waking us. That doesn't normally happen. I'm in East Anglia overnight as have morning off for dentist yuck.

Good choice over the Cords as I think navy is the stylish colour for this Winter. Lisa Armstrong was discussing that too in 'Stella' Sunday magazine. She has some Navy Gap pants that are classic. I also like the aubergine and yellow colours but I am a sucker for yellow. Lisa Armstrong was convinced Phoebe Philo secretly consulted for GAP before her Celine gig and that is why her pants bear the Philo hallmarks of side pockets set into the front so they don't gape at the sides.

You have inspired me to wear my navy old Helmut Lang pants today w/ an old American Apparel primrose yellow sweatshirt, grey tank and booties from ACNE (pale tan w/ the rubbery heels). That'll do today I think.

These booties are super smart. I loved the olive green version Gap did last Winter and I think they'll bring more shades out as the season progresses. I have ordered these tights. I love, love, love tights. And this Bra with the matching pants.

MarshaBrady · 28/08/2013 08:29

QueenC I think it could be good. If you think ah got to get this, love it.

shopafrolic · 28/08/2013 08:30

Morning all - wanted to buy the J Crew tees in the deep red and teal today as had a 25% off code but sold out in my size :(
Can't join the kitchen chat as mine is an Ikea special (white) in the house when we moved in. Our kitchen is tiny, but I have a shiny red AGA and saved up for a sideboard from The Kitchen Dresser Co

Novice reprinting any wood takes ages with all the prep, but worth it. Now I'm getting v excited about extending the kitchen .....love my kitchen, like Mig I live in it, really the heart of my home.
QueenC brace yourself ...with 3 could be costly!
Mig you have got me into tights that aren't black and opaque whilst not going bright never recovered from uni red and white striped ones fancy wooly grey .

BrandyAlexander · 28/08/2013 08:34

Oh beautiful Sleep! How do you keep it clean with 3 kids? Dh's vast initial estimate for doing up the new house, included a budget for if I insisted on another Smallbone kitchen.Blush I think he will be happy with an initial compromise of getting Smallbone man to come and paint it.Grin

Dry - not sure if I said but yes will be at MU in Oct.

Drywhiteplease · 28/08/2013 08:49

That's great novice , really looking forward to meeting everyone.
Going into town today to have a try on and buy will report back

Drywhiteplease · 28/08/2013 08:50

Shop a red Aga, fab! Nice dresser too.

mignonette · 28/08/2013 09:08

Well done Dry. I love a fancy tight I do. They take the sting out of flat shoes like Brogues.

Annianni · 28/08/2013 09:37

Ooh... Waking up to kitchen porn... Fabulous Wink

Our kitchen will probably be the last room to be done and the most expensive
It's too small at the minute, but will double in size across the back of the house.

I did fantasize about sliding doors across the back wall, but then the cupboards would be split up... so I think from extensive googling that I want a galley style, all low level units, with a huge dresser at one end and skylights (the roof is sloped)

I did suggest a retractable glass roof, but dh almost wet himself laughing at the cost and said he'd rather pay the mortgage off :o

I quite like the idea of a slate worktop on one part, for baking on.

Annianni · 28/08/2013 09:40

QC, if you did go for a classic lbd, could you then get some fabulous shoes and a bag

McNally · 28/08/2013 09:49

Stunning kitchens sleep and novice. Ours has a partial glass roof. Lovely but now I've seen sleep's I really need to organise getting it cleaned Blush. Like the retractable roof idea Anni but dread to think what the cost was!

Today's outfit sounds great mig. In J Brand indigo cigarette legs and grey J Crew t shirt at the moment which seems to be my uniform for days at home at the moment. Def need too find some more colour for A/W.

Navy cords look great and v useful QueenC.

McNally · 28/08/2013 09:57

Liked this Gap pointelle sweater from the new arrivals. Also this dot print shirt.

mignonette · 28/08/2013 10:47

Anni I have an inbuilt marble slab for baking and it is always stone cold. Patissieres all use marble.

McNally I really like J Brand- are they the KM ones? I have the same! They are so velvety. How did I miss that pointelle sweater being a complete pointelle freak (Damart tops are my special love). The shirt reminds me of an old bottle green w/ white dot spots I used to own that went i do not know where. Last seen in 1990 the day after my sisters wedding of which I remember not much....Grin
