'classics' you hate

following on from the 'fashions you don't understand' thread, which 'must have' classic items of clothing are just a washout for you?

Mine is a trenchcoat - it looks shit on me.
Also those boucle chanel-type jackets - fuck I age 30 yrs putting one of those on.

Beige.
Those quilted handbags with chains.
My friend has a full length mink coat and ethical considerations aside she looks like a cavewoman in it.

Surprised to see wrap dresses described as unflattering, I think they can be very slimming.

Black anything especially little black dresses. There should be an advertising campaign that says 'Black is unlikely to suit you and if you are a pale blue eyed person probably ages you drastically' (I will work on the exact slogan later )

I still end up with loads of it because high streets seem to make all basics in it.

Shift dresses - nobody ever looked good in those. Audrey and Jackie looked good DESPITE them.

Flouncy shirts with ruffles down them
Animal print - I love it but with my figure I look like Bet Lynch

I wear wrap dresses every day - have enormous tits, short waisted but slim waist. Makes me look like a perfect hourglass and divides my norks in half so I don't have a matronly bosom.

Like Boucle jackets but agree re trench coats, made an expensive mistake with one...

Most classics, really. The whole Restrained Middle Aged Look just makes me look dreadful.

I look awful in shirts, they kind of ride up at the back and make me look like a have a hump. Shame as they look amazing on other people and would suit my colouring

Slacks.

Turtle neck jumpers.

On me, I look ill in camel.

Trench coats and brogues on me makes me look mannish in a bad way - loafers are fine though. I also look good in shift dresses, LBDs & boucle jackets!

Navy, in particular. I look quite spectacularly awful in anything navy. Brown, purple, even black, are fine. Navy just turns me into a corpse.

Tondey - blue eyed winters look fab in black but I agree than those with the wrong colouring look shit in black and the same goes for white - such harsh ageing colours on the wrong person.

White shirts, my norks explode out of them and I look like I'm on a st trinians themed hen night in them.
Ballet flats, can't walk in them.
Shift dresses make me look like a burly fella in a dress.

Wrap dresses make each tit look like some kind of missile. Not naice

When I wear a boucle jacket I look like the Tory candidate for Henley

You see I love a shirt. I aspire to be borgen lady.

There seems to be two ways of answering this.

Classics you dislike on you or classics that you dislike in general.

For me the only thing I can truly think of is the Chanel boucle jackets (remember when Marg in the Simpsons finds one?- it even ages her).

Ah, you see, I love a wrap. The nork-missile look works for me. A shirt just escapes, hopelessly, like a particularly scruffy extra from a porn film about Busty Schoolgirls.

I hate a-line skirts to the knee, a la Boden floppy skirt. Frumptastic.

Flippy skirt even.

I hate a line skirts. That white stuff cardigan skirt look. I hate brown too.

You can only wear a plain white tshirt successfully if you are thin and beautiful.

Any leather jacket or coat.

They make me look like a character out of a Martina Cole book.

Skinny jeans, leggings, trench coats, polos, vest tops, wedge heels, anything flowery or animal print, gold shoes, beige, black, flip flops, navy, ankle boots, waterfall cardigans and shift dresses.
