I don't like paying a lot for shoes either QueenC - like Sleep I worry about trashing them. Also I cannot walk in heels and have very sensitive feet which every second shoe seems to rub so I have lost count of the number of shoes I have bought and then never worn because they are too uncomfortable. And I am clumsy and trip a lot so with every shoe it's only a matter of time before the sole comes away from the toe!

Great coat hunting Mig I want a new coat too so I'll check out those links when I have time later.

santamarianovella · 05/08/2013 13:27

mig great coat selection,

shop i doubt she is an apple, she has a great healthy body,

one i think neon pink will look great on you.

sleep i have always loved alaia shoes, but they are insanely expensive,

queen,i loooove shoes and bags, can never have enough!i own about 9 boots, and god only know how many heels! but i dont get excited about trainers, and sunglasses,

mignonette · 05/08/2013 13:38

Saw a lot more coats that deserve pinning but the list above are I hope, specific to One's preferences. I couldn't find many 'Jewel' colours (One likes theses) so if anybody else has found them, pleae=se do post them. Asos has some great Military styles with sleeves/body in differing fabrics or textures and good prices too. I'm loath to spend much on a coat because a) I nearly always wear either a Parka or jackets and b) I get too darn hot in them!

The pink coats are lovely and everywhere this year due to that Celine coat!

shopafrolic · 05/08/2013 13:47

I think she has an amazing figure! Marsha I know what you mean about post DC tum. I joke that I look fine standing up but sitting down is a whole other story. I just thought she's being rather unfair to herself to say she's apple shaped.
Sleep I'm a 32E.... ?!

I get excited about everything (like an over enthusiastic puppy) so can't really comment :)

shopafrolic · 05/08/2013 13:48

Mig we'll be in North Norfolk next week. Love it there.

mignonette · 05/08/2013 13:54

Shop It is lovely isn't it? Even if the locals drive like lunatics on the back lanes! Have a great time. Loads of Crab and seafood......

Re stomachs. They tend to develop concertina like folds as we age anyway no matter how thin unless we do a Paltrow at the gym! I used to get awful PMS bloating that was really uncomfortable- my only symptom even though now I have hit the 'big pause' I feel bloated all the time to the point of feeling full like I have eaten a huge meal. Horrid and makes me miserable.

OneLittleLady · 05/08/2013 14:01

That's quite a list mig will check the links more carefully this evening. I did like the purple next one though. I do so love purple Grin

skylerwhite · 05/08/2013 14:04

The dress I ordered on stories.com is sold out apparently. Sad Not sure why, as the website still says that 34s are available. Boo!

mignonette · 05/08/2013 14:22

I will keep looking for you One because finding a great coat can be hard...

Skylar have you called customer services? They'll try to help you. I adore that dress.

RE the what do you not bother about discussion I will add that I have more unworn shoes than any other item of clothing! An uncomfortable dress/skirt etc I can tolerate. A shoe? No.
But I tend to keep my good clothing/footwear/accessories for that mythical creature-a grandchild! My Mother had loads of kitsch Lily Pullitzer clothing when I was little (we lived close enough to the Texan border to go shopping for it) and Icould make a mint now selling it in the US. And I do love that look, all palm trees and Hibiscus prints-kind of a rich old lady in Miami vibe...She also had an original Gucci Flora print bamboo handled handbag, St Laurent wood heeled wedges and loads of expat-in-the-heat clothing. (Need a cry-my-eyes-out-emoticon)

Drywhiteplease · 05/08/2013 15:26

QueenC just because you don't spend £££on shoes doesn't mean you're not into shoes. My most expensive pair are £150, maybe £180 for boots, but I love them and have a lot in clear plastic boxes of course

I bet Belinda will come on soon...must be surreal to see us discussing her figure!

I agree with the poster on the bag thread ( and this thread has confirmed my long held suspicion) that you can wear cheaper clothes, but if you have a designer bag and accessories , people assume it's all expensive.

I get v excited about ;
new shoes ( as a child I used to keep them by my bed so I could gaze at them)
bags ( even cheaper ones)
dresses (love them....ESP full length which I used to wear a lot but sadly,no more)
Coats
Make up
I only wear one perfume ( think it may be a French thing)

I try, but can't get excited about;
Jeans (although I wear them most of the time)
Trainers
T shirts

I have just driven 120 miles....for someone who always had a phobia about motorway driving I'm v proud of myself took out a lot of lorries on the A1/M a little bit too quickly

Drywhiteplease · 05/08/2013 15:29

I actually really like this bag v practical, love pockets, but not v exciting.....I think Radley without the stupid dog is doing some wearable designs and the quality is not bad.

mignonette · 05/08/2013 15:44

Well done Dry!! I'm an anxious driver. I like the shape of that Radley bag. A bit saddle bag shaped but a fresh take on it. Laura Bailey has been designing for them hasn't she? Kind of their equivalent of Gwyneth for Coach. I prefer Laura. She seems a little more intelligent and dresses quirkily.

santamarianovella · 05/08/2013 15:47

mig that gucci bag sounds like a collector piece, your mum had great taste.

dry now that is the first radley design i like, really like.

mignonette · 05/08/2013 15:49

Oh Santa it so would have been especially since Gucci revived the Flora print a couple of years ago Sad. It would have certainly been in my collection.....

AmberNectarine · 05/08/2013 16:07

Not a stylish day chez nectarine, DD had minor surgery this morning, so I am covered in blood, banana and yoghurt (her first meal post op). However I don't care as it all went well and she is safely home. And nothing else matters, not even what strangers on the Internet think of my spending habits!

QueenCadbury · 05/08/2013 16:17

Sorry dryi didn't mean you have to spend £££ on shoes to be into them. Just rather that I wouldn't think about spending £££ on a bag yet can't quite do the same on shoes if that makes sense. I almost begrudge spending money on shoes and coats however much it is.

amber glad dd is ok.

It is monsoon season here in Bristol at the moment,

mignonette · 05/08/2013 16:19

Glad the op went okay Amber. Flowers to you. And anyway, the collectible value of particular bags and the pleasure they give as vintage items to teenagers is well worth the expense. As an 'owner' of a DD in her mid twenties, a son in his late teens and three mid twenties Stepchildren, I can guarantee a new lease of life for all those purchases. Seeing old favourites re-styled by youngsters is wonderful and gives me so many fresh ideas on how to wear my stuff. (When I get it back, of course.)

mignonette · 05/08/2013 16:20

God Youngsters...What am I? An old Fogey or what?

MarshaBrady · 05/08/2013 16:20

Here too, really raining.

Glad all is ok Amber.

McNally · 05/08/2013 16:38

Glad all ok chez Nectarine Amber.

I can't get excited about:

  • underwear (I think some is absolutely gorgeous but I wouldn't want to spend the £££ it seems to cost and I'm all for practicality and comfort. Poor DH Smile )
  • trainers (but only wear for the gym or out running so I buy for support etc rather than style)
  • boots (Anni would be horrified after her boots quest! I only really wear them in the snow. Might try a bit harder this winter though).

I love shoes and bags. My biggest weakness is skin products though. I dread to think how much I've spent on those over the years. Would quite easily cover a 2.55 I'm sure.

mignonette · 05/08/2013 16:49

I'm not a trainer person either although I do regret giving away a pair of Mint Green Converse bought in Miami to a GF of my DS who swiftly became an ex GF! Memo to self- these lovely girls, they come and go!

santamarianovella · 05/08/2013 17:03

Oh ,amber glad everything is alrightFlowers, a pinner i fallow pinned the DGAM blog and this somehow reminded me of a certain someone on the bag thread Grin.

mignonette · 05/08/2013 17:13

Exactly Santa. Because of course they would never accept an expensive bag as a gift.......

Drywhiteplease · 05/08/2013 17:52

Glad DD is ok Amber, stressful when they go into hospital. Bet you're glad to be home . X

LinusDKD · 05/08/2013 18:11

Ouch, despite staying in the shade for most of the day my back got sunburned!

I'm having a glass of champagne (and have slathered on lots of aftersun) to numb the pain and once DS is in bed I'll have a catch-up.
