Shop she doesn't look apple shaped to me. V thin . Apples have no waist I though.

shopafrolic · 05/08/2013 10:20

I still wish I'd got that yellow &OS bag LeFreak so I'm interested to hear that it's too small - it's one of my one's that got away.

MarshaBrady · 05/08/2013 10:21

QueenC! Wink.

LeFreak love that dress. How about Marc by Marc J similar price to peony &moore, especially in the sale and nicer I think.

shopafrolic · 05/08/2013 10:23

That's what I thought Dry she can't be an apple??

MarshaBrady · 05/08/2013 10:25

Or Banana Republic, they do good bags too.

LeFreakCestChic · 05/08/2013 10:28

Hmm, hadn't considered Marc Jacobs, will browse, thanks marsha.

No, Belinda isn't an apple, and is being too modest methinks. lifts own tshirt to display quivering tray of muffin tops

shop, it's a v nice bag if all you carry is a tiny change purse & lip gloss...

Drywhiteplease · 05/08/2013 10:33

Unless that H and M top is miraculous shop but I follow that blog and seen her a lot and she's never looked apple shaped to me....more of an athletic boyish straight up and down Envy, really long legs? suspects Marshas are longer Envy Envy

On the subject of legs, Amber, you made a comment about "accepting" (or some similar verb, note correct use of inverted commas) your legs? Why? They look lovely to me. Do you mind my asking how tall you are? I have always had a thing about my legs and it's taken until now for me to realise they're not that bad, just shorter than the Marshas of this world. Wish I'd realised that a lot earlier.

P.s I'm a slob.....have just filled in the chips on my nail varnish instead of removing it properly...Eeeuuuwwww

OneLittleLady · 05/08/2013 10:54

I do that on my toenails dry Blush in my defense, it's hard for me to bend down to reach them anyway so my sister normally does them for me

MarshaBrady · 05/08/2013 10:58

Ah Dry you're very kind, and you haven't met me yet, legs may be a let down Grin. But thanks so nice!

I used to be aware about all sorts of physical things in early twenties which was just silly, fretting when so young. Try not to so much now. Having dc helps me I think.

QueenCadbury · 05/08/2013 11:01

Grin at dry! Seriously though, shoes don't excite me as much as clothes and bags.

shop no way is she an apple.

lefreak radley are good quality but unfortunately they tend to do really bland colours. I'd really like to see them break out into something a bit more fashion forward and that's coming from me, mrs conservative. Fossil are my new favourite and they have some gorgeous colours especially if you don't mind gold metalwork (which I don't like). Banana republic have lovely bags in their website although haven't seem any irl. When gap do leather bags they are really good too.

QueenCadbury · 05/08/2013 11:06

This is an apple. Maybe she's like me though that if she puts on weight it all goes round her middle and has a tendency to become apple whereas I suspect she is mostly an hourglass/pear like myself.

Sleepwhenidie · 05/08/2013 11:42

Wow Mig you are a woman on a mission!

Quick question for you Foxy (or anyone who knows!) - what is lululemon sizing like in tops? I am a 32DD and can squeeze into a small Stella/Adidas workout top and its ok but medium is more comfortable. Would a US4 in lululemon racer back workout top be too tight do you think?

Shop we are at our house I'm Worcestershire, close to DH's sister and parents' homes and also within easier reach of my DM who is visiting on Weds. It's DH's birthday tomorrow and DS1's on Friday so lots of family stuff going on before we head to France Smile.

Sleepwhenidie · 05/08/2013 11:42

I'm ...in!

BrandyAlexander · 05/08/2013 11:48

Grin at LeFreak and such a pity about that gorgeous dress!

I will check out all the links later, at work today still trying to catch up on the horror that was last week!

Interesting combo of clothes today. I am wearing a grey pinafore dress from Hobbs with a white damsel in a dress Etro jacket. This is the jacket that i got for days like this when you need a jacket but not black. I had bitterly regreted it because I wasn't sure it worked but finally found a dress that i works with. Finished off with Russell & Bromley black court pumps. Simple jewelry today - flower Magnolia silver watch, Tiffany charm bracelet and HUGE swaroski ring. After yesterday's bag nonsense, I decided that I hadn't used my Chloe Marcie for a while so it is a lovely contrast to a simple outfit.

Speaking of bags, the Philip Lim on Amber's blog last night was lovely. Sigh.

Not sure who asked, but yes I can confirm that Marsha has gorgeous long legs which she dresses really well. Grin Envy

QueenCadbury · 05/08/2013 11:51

The more I think about it, the more weird I realise I am Grin. I would happily spend a hundred on a bag (or jewellery) but wouldn't pay that on shoes (my most expensive pair are £80 from bertie bought for dd christening) Having seen migs list of coats I've realised that they don't excite me either. Maybe I associate shoes and coats with function rather than anything else? amber doesn't like spending money on underwear as it doesn't excite her.

So what else do people not get excited about...?

OP posts:
BrandyAlexander · 05/08/2013 11:51

Sleep not to turn this into another S&B bra thread Shock but are you definitely a 32DD? You're a an 8/10 aren't you? I am a 6/8 and 27 under boob so wear a 28(E), so would have thought that you're a 30?

BrandyAlexander · 05/08/2013 11:52

Oh and QueenC, really on the shoes?? Shock Grin. I luffs my shoes. Okay I luffs my accessories. I switch between sheos, bags and jewelry as to what my current obsessions are but oh i love a good shoe!

QueenCadbury · 05/08/2013 11:54

Good pointnovice. sleep I'd been wearing a 32e until I bra intervened myself and a 30f is a much better fit. I'm also an 8/10.

OP posts:
QueenCadbury · 05/08/2013 11:55

novice I can appreciate the beauty of a shoe and have plenty of nice ones on my fantasy board but I guess they just don't excite me enough that I enjoy parting with money for them.

OP posts:
Sleepwhenidie · 05/08/2013 12:06

Nope I have even done the bra intervention measurements...by those I am 32E. I am definitely 32" under bust and that is tight...maybe because of my lats due to weight training Confused? Pretty sure its not fat (other bits of me could definitely be less fat but around my rib cage is ok Smile).

I love shoes too...but as with bags I struggle with paying £££ for them, maybe because I know I'm not very good at taking good care of stuff like that and can't stand the thought of trashing them? I have bought Louboutins and Choos in the past but only kept one pair of Louboutins as they were plain black, almond toe, 110mm heel. The others were just too high to walk comfortably in so i ebayed them. I would love love love a pair of Alaia heels, but would have to just keep them to look at or wear around the house ...maybe with some underwear and a beautiful silk satin robe from La Perla Wink...

mignonette · 05/08/2013 12:16

I had a lovely birthday weekend in North Norfolk staying with family. Sligtly chaotic driving Sunday morning to get the papers because Katherine/William went to Sandringham presumably to show the baby to Philip hence police and traffic hold ups. It is a PITA to be honest for the locals although the raving Royalists obviously love it.

Received a very swish new laptop from DParents and enough Amazon book vouchers to keep me in book supplies for at least two months.

Wore my new &OtherStories pink sandals to death (Navy ones not here yet) and received many compliments. They are the most amazing quality, well stitched with a rope edging along the upper.

Quickly skimmed the notorious bag thread - what a bunch of complete ! Anyway, a great spirited defence Amber* et al and in case you haven't seen the 'error' of your ways, here is a link to a bag that saves the World in it's spare time although no doubt somebody will complain that it isn't from a more 'accessible' store. Yes there is also a carrier bag hierarchy. No mind that fashion is one of our few growth areas!

I saw some good shoes in Clarks the other day. I already have the calf hair classic desert boots but these leopard brogues are fun. These burnished metallic brogues in a 'have I forgotten my shoe laces-way' are intriguing.

Novice Love the Balenciaga. I have an old Lariat in blue. It is an oldie but goodie.

MrsR Spot on (or should I say stripe on) with that shirt as I have one very similar. I am a bit obsessed with tea-towel style stripes and that shirt reminds me of them. I once covered a kitchen armchair with sewn together French linen stripe Teatowels that we found for a song in a Brocante and that started my crush on them. I love <a class="break-all" href="//pinpinterest.com/pin/457326537130252758/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this pin of a stair case painted like teatowels.

Was it you LIberty who wanted to know what to wear with pencil/smart skirts to dress down a bit? If so then Sleep's neon yellow hoodie would look great too.

Shop - she has quite an 'athletic' hour glass in that there is a definite in/out balance to hip/waist but her shoulders are nice and strong -(feeling a little uncomfortable about discussing another woman's shape like this but guess as she is blogging, that it is not inappropriate)

BrandyAlexander · 05/08/2013 12:21

Interesting, a 30F was what i was going to suggest for Sleep :)

I hear you on shoes, so here are two of mine.... I can't get excited about jeans or trainers! It's quite fascinating watching everyone else get excited and know that my purse will stay shut Grin

mignonette · 05/08/2013 12:31

Queen - Great question

What I get excited about -

Beautiful lingerie-I spend a lot and and get a lot of appreciation for it and couldn't imagine life without a bit of frivolity under my outer wear;
Shoes-They do not have bloat days/fat days/sallow grey days;
Bags- I will spend what I damn well like and enjoy the beauty and fun of them;
Perfume- I have a wardrobe of it;
Jackets and 'interesting cardigans.

What I am less bothered about-

Coats- I rarely wear 'big coats' as I have a permanently high-set thermostat;
Jewellery- I trash it and so could not care less about wearing it. I do however enjoy seeing how others wear it and relish the craftsmanship and heritage of 'pieces'. I just do not wear any of my inherited jewellery except brooches which I adore and wear a lot. Kind of my 'thing';
Swimwear- I am a plain Maillot in stripes and basic Bikini in plain colours girl;
Nightwear- I am A cool T shirt and PJ bottom/shorts girl. Bit odd with my adoration of lingerie but I tie myself up in knots wearing it as I sleep restlessly as opposed to my DH being overcome by the sight of me in it and tying me in knots Grin;
Make up - love the look of it and keep up with the beauty press but wear a little eye definer and sometimes lipstick and that, my friends, is it;
Accessories - I need to pay more attention to these. I do suit hats I have been told but never wear them.
Sunglasses/Glasses- Couldn't care less about changing trends. If I could locate a pair of my old John Lennon style little round NHS specs, I'd wear those!

MarshaBrady · 05/08/2013 12:36

Novice Thanks and right back atchya Grin your wardrobe is amazing and you look fabulous in it.

Sleep love the idea Alaia heels, swoon.

Shop on apples perhaps it's quite common to feel like one post dc. Well for me I'm not sure what I am, but post-pg where the extra weight goes has changed. So tummy was not an issue pre-dc I worried about other areas instead!

Mig good hunting.

QueenC good question. Mine are trainers and I can only do tshirt a on sale, oh and jeans, but I do like buying those but think they are overpriced.
