Wow these threads move fast. Checking in here again. Loving all the links, and getting tempted lots Blush

I have LOADS of dresses in my wardrobe. I counted 60 sometime last year, but gave a few away as they no longer fitted. Now I wish I had some of them back, as I've gained a bit of weight (trying to lose again) and some of my smaller things are too tight.

Did some washing last night, and discovered this morning that three of my newest and nicest tops have holes in them. Small little holes, all in the same place - on the front, near the bellybutton. It's so weird and annoying. Can the washing machine be causing holes?

I have a question: how do you know what colours suit you? Is there a rule of thumb to go by?

santamarianovella · 03/08/2013 13:44

novice you are not weird i wear matching underwear sets too,and they are mostly in lace,

dry that is impressive,i agree about long cardis i have a couple of slouchy ones, but i can only wear them with high heeled boots.

enjoy your your family evening out shop.

santamarianovella · 03/08/2013 13:54

skyler i just look in the mirror!,

AmberNectarine · 03/08/2013 13:55

Love that leather skirt MrsR, but you know I'm on a spending ban ;)

I have 3 bras - black, white and nude and twenty million pairs of pants in various bright rainbow shade, mostly lacy boy shorts. If I've ever matched it is by accident. My DH has less than no interest in my underwear as he prefers me not to wear any, so I am free to mismatch to my hearts content. Like QueenC I stick to t-shirt bras as I cannot abide seeing any hint of underwear through my clothes. It is one of the few areas of women's retail I can muster no interest in - see also: socks, leggings and swimwear.

AmberNectarine · 03/08/2013 13:56

skyler could it be where the button of your jeans runs - think I have heard of that phenomenon before.

MarshaBrady · 03/08/2013 14:19

Me too Amber. M&S pants mostly with the odd bit of Rigby and Peller / Bodas and Sainsbury's socks and figleaves bikini £5 to £10. Wouldn't say no to an Eres bikini one one day however. As a gift or something. But something else more interesting always catches my eye.

MrsR hello! Love my choice, funnily I'm thinking about some suede flats but worried they'll get ruined quickly. They're non-rain shoes, do people do that, avoid the rain in suede?

skylerwhite · 03/08/2013 14:20

Button of the jeans - maybe. But I never tuck my tops in. It's v strange and extremely annoying. New top which I had earmarked as one of my work outfits for next year is now ruined Sad

Sleepwhenidie · 03/08/2013 14:33

arrgh, just typed a hugely long post and lost it Angry

Hey there mrsR, loving your links, such perfect choices for everyone. I adore my sundress, also lusting after Amber's skirt too Smile. Shop your top is such a fabulous colour!

Sunny day here in Cornwall. Am just about to head for a late lunch at Porthminster beach cafe with in laws and DSIL and family, hoping the 6 kids will play on the beach while we longer over coffee/wine on the terrace, love it there! Am wearing black/white maxi skirt with black ribbed Gap vest and a pendant and silver Havs.

Will retype the rest of my lost post later. Grin

MarshaBrady · 03/08/2013 14:35

And MrsR fab if you can make it!

BrandyAlexander · 03/08/2013 14:41

Mrs R, those choices are inspired! I love my dress. Though you're right, not fitted enough for me. Those types always end up like a sack on me. I did actually get one very similar to your pick but fitted in black from M&S last season. It's a great dress which I will wear agin autumn (else will get culled!).

I also love a lot of the other links you have up there, the shoes, leather skirt, tops etc. as I said great choices!

I have clicked on my link twice. First time when you first posted all sizes except 8 available (good because I wasn't tempted to buy itGrin). i went out and just just now only 14 available!

skylerwhite · 03/08/2013 14:47

Novice on the last thread mig told me you were the one I should stalk follow for good work clothes advice.... and your comments on that lovely red dress make me think that we might have a similar shape. Smile

skylerwhite · 03/08/2013 14:53

That Plumo site is frickin lovely. Not in my size, but spotted these:

This orange dress

This saffron trench - lovely colour

BrandyAlexander · 03/08/2013 15:13

Ooh hello Sleep, was thinking of you earlier. Did your house get rented out?

Does anyone ever have girl crushes on other school mums? We had a pre school get together today. Everyone at the nursery and pre-school seems to be very well dressed and amongst them I have a couple crush. She is stunningly beautiful and dresses really well. Fantastic casual wardrobe, i always notice what shes wearing. He is very handsome and dresses well too. They are lovely people. They manage to look amazing and best of all calm with triplets! My couple crush weren't there today but oh my, I got a new girl crush. Beautiful caramel skin, dark brown hair, lovely geometric print halter dress, great sandals and lovely mani and pedi.Envy

QueenCadbury · 03/08/2013 16:29

skyler I get holes there too. It's either the button/belt of jeans/trousers rubbing or someone else suggested that it's where your tee touches surfaces that you've been cleaning with chemicals. Whatever it is, it's bloody annoying!

Will check out links later as just about to have a cheeky nap!

Hello there!

DH finally sorted out our internet access in our seaside flat and I can see I have a lot of catching up to do.

The style here is a bit schizophrenic as people seem to think they are either in St. Tropez or the Hamptons but the more ostentatious, the better.

Today I wore a white Massimo Dutti tee, cobalt Asos pencil skirt, cobalt Gigis and my yellow nano and DH said I looked good.

I bought French Vogue today as the whole issue is dedicated to British S&B because "ça se passe à Londres" but I haven't had time to read it yet.

Right, DS's bedtime is in 30 minutes, then dinner with DH and finally a MNv catch-up with Wine

shopafrolic · 03/08/2013 18:47

Linus I'd be interested to hear what the French have to say about British style. Dinner tonight cancelled in favour of a day in Brighton tomorrow! Yay!
Sleep glad you're having a good time. Kids playing nicely while wine is consumed sounds heavenly!
I get holes there too. I wash all my tees on a low spin in laundry bags with Woolite. Seems to help....

shopafrolic · 03/08/2013 18:48

Linus your Splendid tee is one of the ones that has a hole :(

shopafrolic · 03/08/2013 19:27

Skyler lots of people on this thread have had their colours done. No rule of thumb really, dependent on skin tone and eye colour. Being draped in all the colours really helps. I was wearing a lot of colours that weren't great on me..... That said, others on here have never had it done and just have a great eye.

skylerwhite · 03/08/2013 19:33

Ah I see. Thanks. So it's skin tone/eye colour rather than hair colour. That's interesting.

shopafrolic · 03/08/2013 19:37

They tend to cover up your hair when they do your colours.....

LinusDKD · 03/08/2013 19:50

Oh no shop! Did it have a hole in it when I sent it to you?

Which reminds me, one did you get my parcel?

skyler I love that silk dress you linked to!

mig happy birthday! And such good news about your DN, it really sounds like she is a real fighter.

I love a lot of the A/W stuff people have linked to but after NY I am on a shopping ban until further notice. I will pin things I like for A/W for when I can afford to buy them.

One thing I really need is some ankle boots/biker boots but last winter I really couldn't find any I liked/suited me.

As I am short and a bit overweight (put on again most of the weight I had lost in NY, despite walking for miles Sad) I find it a struggle to find short boots that look good on me.

Ash or Marant biker boots, Pistols, Jalouses etc won't look good on on me I fear and I haven't found anything else I like yet. Help!

OneLittleLady · 03/08/2013 19:59

Oh, yes Linus. Sorry, meant to post sooner but got caught up with other things. It's lovely Thanks

shopafrolic · 03/08/2013 20:04

No Linus all good on arrival.

LinusDKD · 03/08/2013 21:03

Glad you like it one!

shop I have one Splendid tee that had a hole in it but all the others are fine. I loved their shop in NY and if I hadn't bought my new bag I would have bought half the shop and not just a maxi tube skirt (yes, another one. This time in navy)

Oh and DH took pity on me not being able to buy anything else so he bought me a lovely DKNY cozy in a beautiful blue called Atlantic. I nearly bought another one in navy called Midnight but I managed to restrain myself.

I did buy that Maybelline lipbalm mig recommended a while back and one of them smells just like those fruit scented erasers from my childhood. I should really dislike the scent but every time I put it on I get all nostalgic. And like mig I also bought some Cetaphil cleanser, I love how it's so gentle on my skin.

I forgot who asked me to link the Van Cleef & Arpels necklace I tried on but here it is:

necklace

It is the same design as your necklace santa and I just fell in love with it, especially combined with the matching bracelet. I also tried the white gold and chalcedony version and it was lovely as well but even more £££££ than this version.

DH really wants to buy me a new watch but he loved it as well so I am hoping that maybe, one day.....

santamarianovella · 03/08/2013 21:19

linus we missed you!,
that VCA necklace is gorgeous, they did increase their prices by %5 last may,the salesperson told dh that they do that every 2 years, but im positive its cheaper in europe,
i have enough jewelry ,so i really wanted a new watch for my birthday, and i love it,
