Oh thank you scripsi Smile
I second Mig's advise to ask for a referral for an assessment - or you an ring adult social services at your local council and self refer. You are also entitled to a health assessment for yourself as a carer - unfortunately lots of areas are not good at offering this.

scripsi · 08/08/2013 22:30

Thanks mignonette. I do have some community support and DH is great too, though working long hours too. We are looking into night arrangements now as I am becoming a zombie. I have a tendency to be stubbornly independent but it is getting a bit too much.
I've made notes of these amazing outfits and at some point soon will start to put together a pinterest wish list. Have to sign off for tonight but am sharpening up my credit cards ready for sales shopping. Need more pops of colour, more cigarette pants.

scripsi · 08/08/2013 22:31

Thanks libertychick - will be following up on everything available. Never thought of myself as a carer (must remember to buy hat with large stupid print on it too!).

libertychick · 08/08/2013 22:39

Most carers don't think of themselves as carers! They just think 'I love this person, what else would I do?' - but v v important to look after yourself too.

mignonette · 08/08/2013 22:39

LIberty's advice about carer assessment is sound and I forgot about that [shocked]. Getting night care / time off care maintains your independence because you cannot have full control of your faculties if you are exhausted. You can keep a discreet eye on the carers/night sitters but we had MacMillan and Marie Curie (for non cancer illness in FIL) and they were excellent.

Apply for what you can and then decide what you will take. better position to be in than at the end of your tether and then applying. Good night, sleep well Scripsi

And to you all too

For One tulle

rubylovesshopping · 08/08/2013 23:07

Hello all just popping up again to ask about the m&s snakeskin flats some of you mention- the almond toe slipper ones or the ballet flats? Loved hearing about the handbag debacle will read it one day usually just lurk here for half hour could never keep up with all of you and that's just reading let alone posting too! But still enjoy when I do read, thanks.

libertychick · 08/08/2013 23:25

Ruby both Shop and I have the almond toe slipper ones. A v useful shoe Smile

libertychick · 08/08/2013 23:26

I love that look Dry - would never think myself of putting a denim shirt with tulle...

QueenCadbury · 09/08/2013 07:58

scripsi I agree you must look after yourself to be able to look after others. As mig and liberty have said there probably are lots of things that can help make your life easier and mil life more comfortable. An occupational therapist will be able assess your needs. Are you know to your local palliative care service. You may also be entitled to carers allowance or other benefits which can help if you want to pay for extra services.

Sorry, probably houldn't have pm'd all that. Back to fashion....

Hi ladies, I hope you don't mind me popping in to ask if anyone has both J Crew and Boden jewellery. I got a necklace from Boden in the preview and it's very light and poor quality IMO for the price, is J Crew jewellery similar in quality?

Grumpy, I received the same jumper and dress as you also with a few other bits and bobs in the preview, am undecided and must try on again.

There's 20% off J Crew at the mo with the code WIT20.

Jack Wills new collection has some lovely new pieces similar to their old Aubin & Wills range, I remember that there were some fans here.

QueenCadbury · 09/08/2013 08:24

This grey bag could be a contender for my grey bag quest.

foxysocks · 09/08/2013 09:06

that's really lovely queenc. did you have a good time last night?

what is everyone wearing today? I am currently in leggings and vest for practice but then taking SEVEN children to the park (one 6 year old, four 5 yr olds and two 2 yr olds) with my friend. what can possibly go wrong?!

will either wear denim boyf shorts or CE cargoes with yellow or grey tee. and havs, i think. briefly considered a maxi dress but i may need to run quickly at some point!

shopafrolic · 09/08/2013 10:19

Morning all
Portia4 I haven't bought necklaces from either I'm afraid but the bracelet I bought from J Crew was terrible quality so I got a refund.

shopafrolic · 09/08/2013 10:21

Foxy you must have better weather with you than here. I'm currently in old French Connection tan rolled up trousers with a grey and tan stripe tee from Selected Femme.
Heading out for lunch with my parents later so will wear the Me&em teal Grecian with flat sandals I think and hope I miss the rain showers.

mignonette · 09/08/2013 10:25

Hi everybody. Nice bag Queen. Will likely go with most colours too. Portia I do not wear much jewellery and have little experience of irt from those companies but either upthread or in the previous one, somebody had recourse to JCrew customer service re their jewellery and got excellent customer service with not only a refund but were told to keep the piece too.

How was your curry Queen? My God, Foxy 7 children???? Head counts every three minutes and GPS attachments I think! I am not yet dressed so am in Burgundy American Apparel sloppy (very sloppy) T and cream PJ shorts from Debenhams FrostFrench. Wearing DH's 'Armadillo' slippers too which are so called because they are made from overlapping bands of tan leather. They are delightfully Fugly. I have a MDT review I have to attend later at a low secure unit which I didn't want to find cover for so am slowly being lured back to work. Hastily cobbling together a suitable outfit- pale yellow pants here with a grey fitted T shirt from Matalan and darker grey Blazer by Rag&Bone that I was given by a friend who bought it in NYC for a steal. It has a lovely self stripe weave and felt lapels. I love it and don't think it'll be too hot. I will take my Ally Capellion satchel in leather that I got years ago from the Tate Modern shop.

Tonight DH has thank you drinks with one of his customers that he isn't looking forward to as they have a habit of dressing up in 70's lounge cabaret clothes and surprising him with their cabaret act which consists of impressions of 70's impressionists- very Meta. This guy creeps him out. But he has to go as they have had a lot of houses built lately and want more. And DH of course wants to be the one to sort it! I have been invited to a BBQ but am dragging my heels as would rather stay in and watch Big Brother (I know, I know). I also have a pile of DVD's, copies of this months new US/UK Vogues and a boxset of the first season of 'ThirtySomething' which will be a blast from my late 80's past. Going to experiment with Dates in Ice Cream recipes too over the next couple of days. Yum.

What are your weekend plans?

shopafrolic · 09/08/2013 10:32

That was the J Crew bracelet that they refunded and told me to keep Mig
Raining horribly here now. Lots of washing to do before heading to Norfolk on Sunday.

mignonette · 09/08/2013 10:35

Miserable here too after a lovely hot and fresh afternoon yesterday. I hope the weather is better for you in Norfolk Shop.

MarshaBrady · 09/08/2013 10:37

Good luck Foxy!

It is wet here, luckily dh and I booked yesterday off for lazing in the sun, swimming then lunch. Was very nice.

Read August Vogue. Shop you're right there's some gorgeous stuff. I have never bought Manolo B before but noticed the two tone suede heels and also some very nice caramel coloured bags.

MarshaBrady · 09/08/2013 10:38

Hi Portia!

Mig that ice cream sounds very yummy.

MarshaBrady · 09/08/2013 10:42

Scripsi good question.

Fave off duty - wool J Crew dark grey shorts with ribbon stripe down side and bikini top with any t over top. Celine orange bag and ballet flats.

Favourite going out- Lanvin black pleated dress with jewel tie belt and Marant black heels or blush Stella M sparkly dress.

libertychick · 09/08/2013 10:46

Today I am wearing straight leg indigo goldsigns, dark grey leather converse, coral cotton blouse (the one I wore to the MU) and fitted linen mix navy blazer with three quarter length sleeves from Next. Silver circle diamante pendant, diamante and pale orange glass flower Pilgrim bracelet and usual rings and watch.

Hmmmm thinking those yellow trousers looks very useful Mig. Good luck with all the children Foxy - sounds fun! Lovely bag QueenC but I thought you wanted a paler grey?

Weekend plans, some cooking - probably Jamie Olivers Steak and Guinness pie and apple tart, need to do some household admin and hopefully either a bike ride or a long walk with DH and DD depending on the weather.

libertychick · 09/08/2013 10:48

Envy at Marsha's going out clothes Smile

libertychick · 09/08/2013 10:49

Portia thanks for the Jack Wills tip off - I may be near a branch this weekend - will take a look. I'd like some chino's but when I looked before they seemed rather low cut.

MarshaBrady · 09/08/2013 10:52

I need to go out just to wear them Grin am feeling sorry for the Lanvin! Have a date coming up in September when I can wear it, looking forward to wearing it more than the other things (well about even).
