Recent trends which you didn't 'get'

I'm trying to put 3 month old dc to sleep and am pondering over recent styles and trends that I just didn't see the appeal of. One that comes to mind is 'peplum', it will date quickly and looks quite tacky IMO.

Anyone else want to share their thoughts on recent styles/trends that just don't cut it.......

leather-look leggings
ponte anything
zebra/snake print
pointy-toed shoes

mom jeans! wedge trainers

Yes to the ' HD' Brows thing - but done by a toddler with a brown crayon.

Peplums are great if you're an inverted triangle or column as add a bit of shape and balance.

I don't get the recent trend for high waists and very cropped t shirts. Actually I do get it, I just could never ever wear it.

I'm wondering when the oversized top half, skinny bottom half thing is going to end. Been going strong for at least 10 years. No sign of it waning yet really.

The whole wearing of rollers, visible to all, in their hair during the day when out and about. Seen this a few times on the late teen/early 20s age group. Don't they realise how bad it looks?!?

Aztec prints - just plain hideous IMO, mostly because of the colour combinations.
Peplums (am pear shaped).

Don't mind Mullet hems (short at the front, long at the back, hence, Mullet) actually, although am too old to do them myself, and I rather like the Christmas jumper leggings which were everywhere a couple of years ago - cheerful and thick enough that they didn't reveal the wearer's keks.

Harem trousers.

Yy to massive brows. I over plucked mine in the 90s and am patiently waiting for the thin look to come back into fashion again. They just won't grow back.

Anything in neon. Suits no-one except firefighters and that is probably in spite of rather than because of.

Teeny tiny shorts worn by anyone at home or in local shopping mall. I try hard not to judge but sometimes someone should have said to them don't go out in them.

I love a bit of neon!

Wearing nude coloured clothing, saw a girl in Glasgow the other day, her fakE tan blended in completely with her nude top and skinny trousers; from the other side of the road she looked naked! Mind you she looked better than the topless man in his sixties with a pot belly, mahogany tan and bad wig we also saw that day.

Maybe it's just so, so far from suiting my colouring I just can't get it, Dexter.

And I agree about teeny tiny shorts BUT attitude was softened the other day when a girl of about 18 walked past me in some, and ok they were teeny tiny and a one way ticket to thrush but frankly she had a bottom like a peach and looked like she was in a Ralph Lauren photoshoot, so why not? And about ten paces behind her came these two women in their 50s commenting loudly on how nasty and tarty she looked, such that she must have been able to hear. Horrible baggages. Were they never young?

Peep toe boots? I first saw these in a utilitarian version worn by Yugoslavian ( as it then was) waitresses in the 70's. I scoured the shops but couldn't find any. I now have a pair and love them, men like them too, there is something a bit naughty about them. I suspect they will be the new "mum boot" as M&S are doing them this year.

Gladiator sandals, definitely. They look like a rib cage. And a couple of years ago there was a trend for sandals which looked like a bunch of WW2 bandages.

'mullet hemlines' are big in Canada this summer tho I doubt they call them that...
the 'recent brain surgery' haircuts make me shudder...

Dipped hems. They just look scruffy.
Nails filed to a point. Who does real life with those???
Onesies. Wtf!
Open toed boots. Why cover half and then let your toes peek out. What's the point?
Nude lippie when the rest of your make up is washed out as well. It doesn't make most people look radiant, one just looks washed out.
Linen trousers. Flatter no one. Unless maybe you're gisele bundchen or something.

This is going to be controversial, but I never got leggings TBH. I don't own a single pair. You can only really wear them under tunics, which don't suit me, or dresses and I'd rather wear opaques or go bare-legged. I've seen people wear them well under jersey minis but that's just a bit too much layering round the hips for me. They have no place in my wardrobe at all.

Madburst I don't own a pair of leggings either... im not well shaped for them no matter what they get covered up with.

But reading this thread has been a little alarming. We are in winter now and haven't quite seen what the upcoming trends are for summer as yet - we are usually a season behind UK and please tell me that gladiator sandals and the long/short/cant make up its mind dress is not a current style (again!) for you this summer....

Have really no clue what a peplum is...

Wedge trainers = stumpy feet - not good. Don't mind toeless boots or gladiators but don't own either.

Those horrible cork wedges. I can't do heels anyway, but they just look so clunky.

I dressed like that in the 90's, it didn't look good then, it doesn't look good now.

Wedges. Printed leggings. Awful crappy little mismatched tattoos that look like you let my 2 year old go mental with a felt tip pen.

Dresses/leggings made out of too thin a material, so you see every lump and bump.

Kath Kidston style bags - flowery or pink polka dot bags look like something my 5 year old should own, not grown women!

I don't mind animal print but don't get the trend for actual pictures of animals on things

This is the most horrendous item of clothing I have ever seen
