How much have you spent this summer on your wardrobe?

missbopeep · 28/07/2013 11:20

I only ask because my spend has been quite small due to the late summer.

I have bought 1 dress, 1 pair summer chinos (Boden) 1 nice T shirt /top (Jigsaw) and I cardi (Jigsaw) total about £170.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 28/07/2013 13:48

About £400.

But I had hardly bought anything the last two years because the weather was so bad, and before that I was pregnant and also fatter.

That is two pairs of trousers, a pair of shorts, two pairs of sandals one of which Hasbeens, two dresses, maybe 7-8 tops of various kinds and some new pjs.

AmberNectarine · 28/07/2013 13:56

Oh, god knows. I've spent a fortune on clothes in the last few months as ever, but on Bona Fide summer items, not that much really, thought I did buy a ridiculously pricey Philip Lim vest.

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 28/07/2013 15:02

£35 in total between two new t-shirts and one vest.
I am just wearing my previously bought summer clothes. I have lots from past seasons and have not felt the need to buy anything new. Summer clothes always feel like a bit if a gamble as who knows if the weather will be good enough to get much wear.

Lucylloyd13 · 28/07/2013 16:10

About £1500, which is what I normally spend on a season's wear. This year the unusually warm weather has meant me having to buy more new items than I might normally.

NewChoos · 28/07/2013 17:48

DD is 2 weeks old so I have purchased quite random things.
Dress from Seraphine £45 and a couple of other maternity dresses in the sale for £50
Sandals JL £65, Birkenstocks £35
3x T shirts Boden £60
Tunic Boden £35
Blue cardigan M&S £20
Black leather shopper in sale JL £45
Plus
Hand cream/foot cream Clarins
Lancome moisturiser
also had cut and colour, plus monthly EB threading

More than I thought..... approx £500?

scarlet76 · 28/07/2013 17:57

I always spend far less in summer than winter.
This summer I bought
denim shorts £25
White vest £12
Tan leather sandals £35
Black bikini £15
White jeans £25
Sunglasses £40

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 28/07/2013 18:10

Oh I forgot - I did buy a pair of tan wedge sandals for the work commute discounted in BHS of all places for about 20 quid. Really comfy and attractive, but a false economy because the leather has already scuffed very badly at the toe.

So 71 quid in all.

IsaacCox · 28/07/2013 19:03

No idea, way too much though. I seemed to have gone shopping most days lately or ordered stuff online. I daren't add it up Blush

Ipp3 · 28/07/2013 19:08

£0

Marylou2 · 28/07/2013 19:12

Don't want to say now I've read other peoples. I'm obviously a wanton spendthrift. Will appreciate what I have next summer rather than buying more.

deleted203 · 28/07/2013 19:14

OP - but that means a T shirt and a cardi cost you £65 Shock.

I'm obviously with the poor/frugal crowd, I'm afraid. T shirts would be about £5 for me!

I haven't actually bought anything this year. Dug out an old pair of shorts, several old T shirts. That does me.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 28/07/2013 19:17

Oh Lordy, fuck knows. I'd wager a guess at about £250?

BeingMoreDog · 28/07/2013 19:17

4 tshirts (£30 ish - white stuff, new look)
1 dress (£7 tesco sale)
birkenstocks (£23, tkmaxx)
3 jeans (£90 next, gap)
1 top (£12 next)

The dress is ok for the garden on hot days, but not v flattering. The gap jeans were a mistake, but everything else is worn loads and represent about all the clothes I have (pregnant/just given birth 2 previous summers).

BeingMoreDog · 28/07/2013 19:18

Oh and a fab cardi (tesco £12)

marriedinwhiteisback · 28/07/2013 19:26

Does it count that I took DH out this afternoon and bought him two polo shirts and a sensible pair of shorts --he would't change out of his gardening trousers so for most of the time I kept a fair distance from him Grin

Corygal · 28/07/2013 19:31

Only spent on trans-seasonal ie mean-spirited items I can wear all year - except for a tenner on 5 primark white T-shirts and grass-green keds.

I've bought colours only tho', in a nod to summer - lots of acid-y knits, bright dresses and leather in brown or nude that will last through autumn.

I have three pairs of unworn Pedro Garcia satin slippers - pink, coffee, lilac - that were meant to be for summer, and even post-heatwave I haven't got into them yet. Pah. No wonder I was eyeing up cashmere in TK today.

Has anyone got size 4 or 5 feet by the way? They need a home.

shaggyrogers · 28/07/2013 19:31

£65 for a t-shirt and cardi doesn't sound too bad to me. I've probably spent about £200. I've bought 2 maxi skirts (£40 each), a couple of t-shirts (£20 each), cropped jeans (£40) and a shirt (£60).

JugglingFromHereToThere · 28/07/2013 19:42

Nothing yet, but I want some sandals (feet too hot) - birkenstocks (style ?) at tkmaxx sound good Dog ?
Wish I had a few hundred to spare like some of you ! Maybe one day!
(when the kids have left home ?!)

deleted203 · 28/07/2013 19:59

I've got size 5 feet - but I've just googled Pedro Garcia and I'm a bit Shock at the price of them!

Mumelie · 28/07/2013 20:09

Too much!
I've dropped 2 dress sizes since last summer and had no clothes to wear in this very warm weather. Needed work and casual wardrobe so my Credit card took a bashing in the sales.
Still, will all be there next year so wont need much then ;0)

PlatinumStart · 28/07/2013 20:11

Probably loads - try not to keep track! Not really bought any legit summer stuff - a couple of pairs of shorts, 2 bikinis, some sandals and a couple of 2nd day vest type tops which are really summer only - everything else is general wear.

Corygal · 28/07/2013 20:14

Pah, I sniff at the 325US dollar price tag - I got mine for pennies in TK Maxx.

missbopeep · 28/07/2013 20:35

sowornout

I'm not here to justify how I spend ( or earn!) money, but I tend to be of an age now when I buy investment and quality pieces- and fewer of them. I've been a student, been poor, spent more money on my DCs than me.....but now I'm closer to 60......

The Jigsaw top was £25-ish and is a lovely white T shirt style which will get loads of wear for maybe 3 seasons ( and last longer than a £5 one) and the cardi was around £40 - it too is transeasonal , and will last forever- it's slightly cropped, fine knit cotton.

OP posts:
marriedinwhiteisback · 28/07/2013 20:48

I'm with you miss Bopeep. I buy what I want when I want, enjoy wearing it and wear it a lot because I like it and it hangs well. I earn my own money and spend a very small proportion of it on clothes.i

Notsurewhattodonext · 28/07/2013 20:50

Quite a lot I think
4 pairs of sandals about £90 - 2 in the sale
2 pairs of flip flops £4
2 dresses in Zara sale £50
Handbag I'm Zara sale £30
Trousers Primark £5
3 pairs of trousers in h&M sale £21
A whole raft of tops in H&M sale £25 ish
Dress for a wedding from Reiss £58 (reduced from £189)
Sparkly flats Kurt Geiger reduced to £35
I think that's about it, although I am sure that there are a few other bits, so about £300. I am pleasantly surprised, I thought it was more.
