So, I'm tweeting about bras with M&S. Who wants to tell me which stores have given incorrect measurements?

They have asked which store fitted incorrectly. Apparently they've invested a lot into their Bra fitting and would like to know which stores have incorrectly measured / fitted.

Shall we give them a list?!

They've been tweeted and given a token response, I agree contacting journalists is a great idea!

NotAQueef · 22/07/2013 16:22

It's so hard to fit a catchy and meaningful message on this topic in 140 characters at least it is for me

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/07/2013 16:24

I did use hash tags of 'm&s bra fit is shit' and 'we don't add 4 anymore' at one point!

FoxPass · 22/07/2013 17:25

:o at those hashtags

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/07/2013 18:15

Subtle huh!

I like your thinking Starship - if you need any help feel free to PM me.

WeAreSix · 22/07/2013 21:47

Go Starfish! :)

Yay go Starfish. M&S could really use this to their advantage if they play it right!

I think timidviper's story about her poor DD's awful experience basically sums up the logical extreme of the "add 4 inches" thing if the cup letter is based on the difference between your under and overbust measurements.

If the M&S measuring method then adds 4 inches to the measured ribcage size, that implies that your overbust measurement must be at least 4 inches larger than your ribcage to fit into any bra, even a AAA. Because otherwise it would be a negative number Confused

Marble Arch Oxford St- though it was some time ago. Put me in a 34B and really I am a 32D or a 30DD if any 30s exist.

colditz · 23/07/2013 12:26

Leicester tried to put me in a 44c, despite it clearly not fitting. I am a 38 g

HeyLuciani · 23/07/2013 13:57

M&S Marble Arch told me that I was 36E. The bra they gave me to try didn't feel right - there was no 'lift' and boobs felt flat. The bra lady told me that it was probably just the style and I should try other bras, but none of them felt right. I'm usually a size 8, (maybe 10 in tight fitting tops) and 36 seemed a bit big to me Confused. Went to Bravissimo and John Lewis who both measure me as 30g or 32ff, depending on the bra - these sizes fit and give me a good shape.

colditz · 23/07/2013 14:04

And, marks and spencer, we told you what to do about your flagging children's section five years ago. You haven't listened.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/07/2013 14:06

M&S could actually turn this around into a marketing success if they said "want to lose half a stone? Get measured for a bra in the new way and look slimmer". They could re-educate women all over the uk. Or just limp on being a bit crap.

I read an article ages ago about a breast surgeon in the nhs who had his nurses trained to fit bras properly on women requesting breast reductions, they found all of them had the wrong size bras and most of them didn't go through with the surgery as the new bras eliminated the back aches they had been suffering. I tried to google the article and I cannot find it anywhere.

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/07/2013 14:09

I'd heard similar too fluffycloudland, and when I went with a friend for her consultation for an NHS reduction one of the things he did was check her bra fitted properly.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/07/2013 14:11

They'll just limp on being crap, won't they?

BabCNesbitt · 23/07/2013 14:15

Was fitted as 38D in M&S Cambridge. Bravissimo fitted me (correctly! difference was astonishing!) in a 30G.

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/07/2013 14:17

Goodness BabC - you could probably have put the 38 on over your head!

CakesAreNotTheAnswer · 23/07/2013 14:17

Kingston upon Thames

NomDeClavier · 23/07/2013 14:18

Great idea starfish!

I would use M&S if they fitted right. I do buy bras from them when I'm certain on size but the assistants just put me right off even going in be side I know they'll get it wrong

MimsyBorogroves · 23/07/2013 14:23

I was measured by M&S was a 36D.

I'm 32F.

piprabbit · 23/07/2013 14:23

Also - back measurement = actual measurement is much more logical and simple to understand, then 1 size per inch difference on the dangle. It just makes sense in a way that the add 4 minus something, make up a size technique currently used doesn't.

FairPhyllis · 23/07/2013 14:39

What's the point in even talking to M&S? They fit you according to what they have in stock. They don't have anything in small back sizes with large cups. I just measured my self using the patent MN method and apparently I'm a 30. Yet there are only 7 bras on their website in that size: what are the chances of me finding my size in my local store?
