Does anyone else now wince after reading the bra threads on here...

...when encountering people who go: Oh I'm a 34A when they really are most probably not?

I am finding it hard to convince people out of believing their M & S sizes and refer them to the bra gurus fitting guide. But it's so deeply ingrained into common thinking that anything over a D is massive and that they MUST be a 34/36 frame even when they are blatantly smaller than me and I measure as a 32!

If you are member of your local freecycle webiste, you can post in there and people who are interested will come and collect

MadBusLady · 14/07/2013 21:02

Oxfam take them.

BringOn2014 · 14/07/2013 21:37

Thanks Sorrel I tried on a few freya bras in debenhams today and it seems like I am a 30HH, all the 32s were far too loose around my ribcage. Of course they didnt actually have any freya bras in stock in 30HH Hmm but at least I can order a few online now.

SorrelForbes · 14/07/2013 22:13

That might be to your advantage BringOn2014 as you'll find much better bargains online!

A D cup on a 30 band is really quite a small cup, volume wise. This diagram shows that quite well.

I think in all the bra threads over the last few months, there's only been 1 genuine A cup (1" difference between the under bust and across bust measurements).

Dorange · 15/07/2013 08:12

I'm finding it so complicated........
But at least went from 34A to 30D and me and my boobs are happy

WeAreSix · 15/07/2013 12:02

Sorrel That diagram is fantastic! Is it ok to share?

SorrelForbes · 15/07/2013 12:20

Of course. It's not mine, I saved it from a bra website ages ago but can't remember which one!

PareyMortas · 15/07/2013 12:25

Another shocked MNr here. I've been in a 36/38 b/c for the last ten years or so, have just measured following your advice and I should be a 32E. I'm finding it very hard to believe, but will try out some bras in the shops and see how they feel.

lljkk · 15/07/2013 12:31

With so many MN threads on this I'm amazed that anyone is left in the country still wearing the wrong size (supposedly, I am another heretic who won't be converted).

IdaClair · 15/07/2013 12:33

I'm a 32 under and a 36 over.

I have 32d-32dd and 34ds in my drawer, but have terrible back fat/underarm bulge in nearly everything, and since stopping BF 10mo DD a few weeks ago I seem to be lacking fullness at the top and there is gaping at the top when I sit down. I also have 32 back sizes in the drawer I cannot physically fasten round me.

Am I not actually wearing the right size? I'm a bit confused.

SorrelForbes · 15/07/2013 12:34

Couldn't we try and convert you lljkk

SorrelForbes · 15/07/2013 12:36

IdaClair What do your current 32s feel like done up back to front? Of they feel ok like that but then become too tight when put on properly, it's a cup size issue. You sound like someone that may need a bigger cup than your measurements suggest. A lot of back fat and underarm bulge can be cured by going up a cup (or more).

I'd suggest trying a 32E/F/FF.

SorrelForbes · 15/07/2013 12:36

PareyMortas Remember that an E on a 32 is not like an E on a 38.

GoatsHaveStrangeEyes · 15/07/2013 12:44

Can someone help me? I have just measured and am 38 under bust and 44 over. I currently wear a 38c but I know it's not right Sad. Any suggestions for size?

SorrelForbes · 15/07/2013 12:46

GoatsHaveStrangeEyes Those measurements would suggest a 38E. How are your 38Cs fitting> If you scoop is there a lot of overspill? If you put a bra on back to front, can you stretch it out a long way? It may be that you need to size down/up to a 36E/F.

GoatsHaveStrangeEyes · 15/07/2013 12:48

Yeah there can be quite a bit of overspill, it depends which bra I have on really. Not a good look.

I am off bra shopping at the weekend, I will try and E cup see how that fits. Thanks.

TarkaTheOtter · 15/07/2013 13:03

I measured myself after a previous thread. Went from a 36D/DD to a 30H. It felt tight for about a week. Now it feels fine and looks so much better. I can move in my bra and not get quad boob.
Definitely a convert.

ouryve · 15/07/2013 16:52

sleepywombat - I suspect that most men aren't even an A cup!

popperdoodles · 15/07/2013 17:07

ok bra experts I am measure 32 ribcage and 38.5 across boobs. am falling out of my 34c bras. what sizes should I try on? thanks

DisneyDiva87 · 15/07/2013 17:28

I'm not an expert but I think that means you should be trying around a 32DD

OneLittleLady · 15/07/2013 17:30

I think popper you need to try 32E maybe a 32F for that extra half inch. Might depend on style though

popperdoodles · 15/07/2013 17:39

Thank you

sparkle12mar08 · 15/07/2013 20:11

Definitely a 32F to start with Popper, a DD will be two cup sizes too small, E a cup too small.
