A well fitting, smart/sexy and preferably push-up bra size 38A... impossible???

I am sooo fed up with trying to find a well fitting bra, preferably nice looking and adding a bit of "volume" in my size...
I'm starting to feel like a freak!
Am i really the only person in the world with really small breasts and a slightly larger ribcage?
Every bra I find is either too tight around my chest or has gaping cups. I need a wired one as any others leave me looking completely flat-chested.
Any suggestions of shops or online retailers would be greatly appreciated!

I love how this thread just keeps bouncing back!

Pinkypie78 · 18/07/2016 20:52

Thanks for reply😀Yes when leaning forward, that seems crazy that would be my size, but I will give it a go. Will all shops be the same regarding size as I have 5 kids and hardly go anywhere other than asda haha

Different brands can vary and it's worth trying a few different styles to see what suits you (eg balconette, half cup, plunge etc). Some brands/styles are better for wider set boobs, some for narrower etc. I think that supermarket bras probably aren't going to be the best for shape and support, but it's worth a try.

If you can, order a few online so you can try them on at home. Bravissimo are good. Brastop are good for decent brands at bargain prices.

Just a quick update I was buying a couple of tops in new look sale and ordered a 32d (couldn't get my head around an e) arrived and I'm amazed it fits me better than any bra I've ever worn, I scooped but my under arm boobies keep escaping haha does that mean it's too big or small?

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/07/2016 12:53

Escaping underarm means you need more cup space there- if the cups are full elsewhere go up a cup, if they're not try a wider style like Freya patsy half cup

Pinkypie78 · 22/07/2016 12:55

Thank you x

KatharinaRosalie · 22/07/2016 13:50

Also Pinky sometimes the trouble is that the band is too loose - the bra has to be quite tight to keep the boobs from escaping

I have finally managed to successfully bra-intervene a friend of mine, who was clearly in ill-fitting bras, but kept claiming she's a 38B.
Draped an old bra of mine around her just to show that the band fits - she's now 34E.

Smile thank you I'm sure I will find my perfect fit now I know what I'm doing, it's crazy to think I've been wearing the wrong size probably all my bra wearing years.

TimeoutT · 26/02/2017 17:15

Ladies, can u help me please?
I've been wearing a 38b all my life. That's a struggle to find a bra at that size!
After reading this thread I think I may be wearing the wrong size. I tried a 36a the other day and the cup fitted me but not the back so I've searched for 38a(which is what I assumed I must be) online and they're impossible to find! Confused

I've taken my measurements using thr method provided on the first page which are 38" bust and 42" boobs.

What size does that make me? Hmm
Thanks xxx

Can someone advise me of the correct size, I’ve been wearing 36A for years, recently got some 38A double your cup size bras which are ok but they do gape.

I’ve measured as suggested and I’m 37 under bust, and 40 when leaning forward???

Help! I hate wearing bras!

BuntyCollocks · 22/07/2018 16:35

Try a 36D

sah1981 · 22/07/2018 21:40

Thanks! My measurement were a bit inaccurate, should have been 36 under and 38 bust. So I went for a 36B and it was perfect!

My post should also have read ‘I hate buying bras’ not wearing bras 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Flyingdaisy · 29/09/2018 17:17

Hope this is still live, 33.5 under 40 over. Currently in a 38a which is really comfy, but probably all wrong! Please advise.

KatharinaRosalie · 30/09/2018 08:34

Try around 34E.

Flyingdaisy · 30/09/2018 13:31

Omg, mind blown. Not 38aA but 34D, and a much better figure that I ever thought I had.
Thanks a million!

lindyloo57 · 30/09/2018 17:01

I was a few years ago a bra fitter, and yes the old way was to add inches,
but we dident use this way, it was just a guide, once the ladys tried the bra on, you would go by how it fitted and try lots on until we got a great fit, there was some ladys with wide ribs and very small boobs, so sometimes you can be 38 or 40 A playtex used to do a padded Acup was one of the best sellers, along with the wonder bra, who can remember the Dorren? another best seller.

Fairylightfurore · 09/01/2019 22:27

Not sure if anyone can help, I measure 35.5 under and 45.5 over. Currently in an m and s 36 c.

Ollivander84 · 09/01/2019 22:34

@Fairylightfurore try a 36GG

123rd · 09/01/2019 22:50

This just popped up ... I asked a question about my measurements ages ago...took the advice given and WOW my boobs are still big (32gg) but they don't look like one huge shelf anymore

Thank you you brilliant ladies !

Fairylightfurore · 09/01/2019 23:13

Thank you! I will take a leap of faith and give it a whirl. So please I asked and thanks for replying so quickly Flowers

Jayne2020 · 30/01/2019 19:45

Hi. Can someone help me please. I have done my measurements and they are 36 and 38.5
Would love to find the perfect one lol x

goose1964 · 31/01/2019 22:50

Re M&S fitting, I'm getting on a bit and can vaguely remember bra sizing changing in the late 70s early 80s.It seems marks are still measuring the old way but their bras have the new sizing, so an old 34 would be a 30 now

Ollivander84 · 31/01/2019 23:47

@Jayne2020 try a 36C

liljo108 · 18/02/2019 15:18

I hope this is still live, can someone please help? I’m 37 inches under and 40 over, I’m currently in a 38A

FindPrimeLorca · 18/02/2019 21:44

I’d try on 36Ds and 38Cs lilijo based on the BBC calculator (though you might want to recheck you were measuring correctly)
