A well fitting, smart/sexy and preferably push-up bra size 38A... impossible???

I am sooo fed up with trying to find a well fitting bra, preferably nice looking and adding a bit of "volume" in my size...
I'm starting to feel like a freak!
Am i really the only person in the world with really small breasts and a slightly larger ribcage?
Every bra I find is either too tight around my chest or has gaping cups. I need a wired one as any others leave me looking completely flat-chested.
Any suggestions of shops or online retailers would be greatly appreciated!

Wow this thread is a blast from the past!

OK,

Adriana - start with a 32F

cake, your starting point is a 30DD. If the 32C was that small then don't even attempt the 30D (as it has the same cup volume as a 32C) - you might actually want to try a 30DD and 30E as it sounds like that might have been more than 1 cup size too small

Nickdrake - your measurements suggest a start point of a 32C/D or a 34B/C (you have several because your underbust measurement is an odd number). You're certainly not a 36A

retainertrainer · 12/05/2016 05:59

Could you do me please? I'm 31 and 36,currently wearing 34B. I've never found a bra that fits comfortably, probably because I've never been properly fitted and I buy cheapy bras.

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/05/2016 06:55

Start with 30dd/e and 32d/dd

retainertrainer · 12/05/2016 07:33

Thankyou-I'm so intrigued to try on a bra that size and see what happens!

nickdrakeslovechild · 12/05/2016 08:40

Wow, thank you. Cant wait to try some on!

Adriana86 · 12/05/2016 10:43

Thank You soooo much!

nickdrakeslovechild · 14/05/2016 12:12

StatisticallyChallenged, you are a genius! Am wearing a 32C non wired non padded bra and it's bloody fantastic. I think I will be a 32d!!! In the padded t-shirt ones. Thank you so much.

CakeForBreakfast · 16/05/2016 14:03

So, My measurements were 30 and 35(ish)
I tried on 30d and dd, but after breastfeeding 4 kids, I have lost some volume on the top and the 30d in a padded or balcony style fits beautifully!

statisticallyChallenged how do you know so much?

You are an impressive breastologist Grin

flowerslemonade · 18/05/2016 10:27

Hey, the bras arrived through the post but neither fit. The 40A was way too big overall, it was loose. The 38A fit around my ribcage perfectly but the cups were too big so they kind of puckered (they were thin stretchy material cups). So I sent them back and thankfully they gave me a refund. I've given up!! I think the 38aa diddly said would've been right? And for now am wearing vest tops under my tops, I buy them in tesco for about £3 each so at least they're not costing me a fortune. My back pain has reduced a LOT so I'm happy anyway and I don't care so much about the whole issue :)

Flossiesmummy · 20/05/2016 15:15

This thread has made me realise I really need to measure properly. It's come at a good time in a way as all my bras are getting tatty.

I'm 34 weeks pregnant - should I wait until I get into a breastfeeding routine though? My boobs got even huger last time around.

CaptainCallisto · 20/05/2016 21:38

I've just measured myself. I come up 40 and 49. I'm currently wearing a 40D. Judging by this thread, and the fact scooping results in about four boobs, I'm thinking that's wrong...

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/05/2016 21:45

just a little - those measurements suggest a 40G!

ThunderboltandLightening · 20/05/2016 21:49

Marking my place as have never measured myself so gonna give it a whirl. I struggle to find many 38a bras like the OP and not convinced its the right size anyway

CaptainCallisto · 20/05/2016 22:12

That's a bit of a difference! Shock Thank you!

defineme · 20/05/2016 22:23

I am so flat chested, always have been, very pear shaped, breast fed 3 children, boobs disappear in a lot of tops. I wear 34 A or B and always padded. Measure 31.5 under and 35.5 over?

StickTheDMWhereTheSunDontShine · 20/05/2016 22:24

Defineme - try a 32 C or D.

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/05/2016 22:25

You should probably try going down a band to a 32 - and up to a C or D cup. You should find you get much better lift and support

defineme · 20/05/2016 22:38

Hilarious, in a good way!i will go shopping tomorrow .

Lostandinsane · 20/05/2016 23:53

Can I join in? My mind has been blown by this thread!
Currently wearing a 34B, measured self just now and am 29" under and 33.5/34 over - what does that make me?
And yes I do seem to have lots of armpit boob going on now it's been mentioned. Why does no-one tell you this stuff?!?

StickTheDMWhereTheSunDontShine · 21/05/2016 00:05

start with 30D or 28DD - probably the former if your have little padding on your ribcage.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 21/05/2016 01:07

Marking place. Why did I leave my tape measure in the shed?!

SinisterBumFacedCat · 21/05/2016 09:42

Right this is bonkers! I've been wearing a 38a which is a bugger to find in the shops. Just measured 31.5 under 37.5 on biggest part. Scooping made minimal difference though, and I'm still finding the 38a quite tight under but gaping on top.

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/05/2016 09:50

OK, the 38A just shouldn't be tight under - can you take it off and then put it on back to front. This will let you see what the band alone feels life without any weirdness from the cups. You should be able to pull the band a good few inches from your body given measurements.

Here's the thing - a bra band should be tight as it does most of the work. On a well fitting bra you should only be able to pull the band an inch or so from your body.

Next shock. Your measurements suggest you should start with a 32DD/E

SinisterBumFacedCat · 21/05/2016 10:46

Blimey! I can pull the band about 4 inches away easily. Also noticed it sits a lot further down. I have to go Bra shopping! Thank you so much!

iknowimcoming · 21/05/2016 15:12

34 under and 44 over - is that a 34 gg?!?! Confused
