Hatty, I had heard that they repeat a year - not sure how often this can happen though. I can't believe how blase the OP was about saying itShock

MI, is your OH wining and dining you tonight?

motherinferior · 05/06/2013 17:28

Dinner out..for fourGrin

bigTillyMint · 05/06/2013 17:33

CointreauVersial · 05/06/2013 17:58

Happy 50th, MI! Thanks Thanks Thanks Wine Thanks Thanks

Hope you have a nice evening.

QueenQueenie · 05/06/2013 18:59

Happy Birthday MI.
Hope your party on Saturday is stupendous... as it surely will be with the crepey contingent and curry! Sorry I can't be there.

In s and b news my black maxi dress arrived yesterday (bought it with 35% off a while back then had to wait ages for it...) and it's FAB. The material is really lovely heavy drapey jersey with a bit of stretch and very flattering / forgiving. Can you tell I'm rather pleased with it?!

hattymattie · 05/06/2013 19:03

BTM -"redoublement" seems to happen quite a lot and a general rule of the thumb is only once in each section of school ie. only once in primary and once in college (not sure about Lycee). There is a child in DD's class who has repeated two years of school. I have a friend whose DS repeated the last year of primary as his grades were bad and there was a feeling that he wasn't mature enough to go into college. In fact this has worked quite well for him - he is a happier child. I'm not convinced it's like this for everybody though.

DD2 is outraged today because the sports teacher told two girls off for not working enough starting with "I know you think you don't have to work because you're both 'hot'" Hmm

Have fun MI - we've got the rosé out as it's finally sunny. I'll think of you whilst sipping away. Smile

QQ, I got the very same - it's lovely, isn't it!

Ruby, great job for this weather. Am loving the hi-vis V!

herbaceous · 05/06/2013 20:40

Happy Birthday MI! Many crepey returns.

PS could someone PM me the details of the party? Such as time and location? Or am I gatecrashing terribly?

I spent today at Knole, an NT property in Kent, with two NCT pals and our boys. They had a brill time clambering over logs in the sun, and DS ended the day utterly filthy all over, with dirt stuck to ice-cream, stuck to gingerbread man. The sign of a good day.

I wore my royal blue Gap 'broken in straight' trousers today, and jolly nice they are too.

motherinferior · 05/06/2013 21:01

Of course you're welcome! All you lot are.

bigTillyMint · 05/06/2013 21:10

Have PM'd Herbs!

MI, are we arriving as the MN massive, or are we incognito to preserve your anonymity on MN?Wink

motherinferior · 05/06/2013 21:23

Er...you probably won't be the only people there I met through MN! I'd say real names (Grin) but no particular need to disguise origins Grin

bigTillyMint · 05/06/2013 21:29

No MN badges then?!

alto1 · 05/06/2013 22:20

Very happy birthday MI. Sorry to miss party but dd will be just back from residential trip. Would love to meet you all, hope it won't be long.

QQ would you mind if I buy that dress to wear for concerts? Looks ideal.

MrsS, sounds like you're more than ready to come back Smile

MI - happy birthday and sorry I can't be with you for the party. Mr Amazon is delivering a small gift in my absence. Smile

hattymattie · 06/06/2013 09:27

Somebody's going to have to post photo's of this party! Just saying ...

Quite like the concept of Mr Amazon!

Off to Lycee to help to distribute caps and gowns for graduation - which they have to pick up in the middle of their exams poor kids.

Cremolafoam · 06/06/2013 11:24

Hi laydees , happy belated birthday MIWineThanks
I am being utterly crap at MN just now, but have read through. Dh has been pretty poorly and dd up to her eyes with sodding exams. I feel like the brace holding general chaos and misery together.e
Biscuit

Anyhoo I am dying to hear all about the party on Saturday . i will also need evidence of all frockery in advance please. Grin
So wish I could be there to meet y'all and experience the style Grin

I have been luxuriating in the sunshine this week and avoiding work as much as possible. We have G8 fever going on here. I have been playing 'spot the CIA agents ' which is not much of a challenge tbh as they stick out like sure thumbs. Some nice fodder for 'mum-crushes' though.
Hope to get a good close look at Obama. Shall report back...

I have no idea what to wear on Saturday - my summer clothes are currently spilling out of a half-open underbed bag as I haven't got around to properly getting them out. Still, sorting through them tomorrow may reveal some pleasant surprises as I can't remember what I put away last October. Weather's supposed to be lovely though Smile.

herbaceous · 06/06/2013 12:00

I don't know what to wear either! A summer frock beckons ? Uniqlo or Sains, natch ? but then it's going to get reet chilly later on...

Cremolafoam · 06/06/2013 12:04

The old bolero cardigan hags!

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 06/06/2013 12:08

I will be wearing one of my frocks. And a fur for the chilly evening air. Fake, of course - from your fav shop actually, HerbsSmile

Am getting excited!

CointreauVersial · 06/06/2013 12:56

I don't have any suitable "frocks"; mine are either black and wintery, or patterned and country-bumpkin.

I am off to a mahoosive Sainsburys this afternoon so will see what they have (Herbs dress-clash alert!), although I have to be careful to leave myself enough time to get the food shopping done and not get too distracted by the lovely clothing, leaving a furious DD1 standing in the street outside her drama class at 8pm waiting to be collected, not that I've ever done that, oh no.

herbaceous · 06/06/2013 13:01

Don't worry CV - I've only got one Sainsbury's dress this year, so we're unlikely to clash!
