We were getting to the end.Smile

I can hear my DCs too, but it is only faintly, through a closed door, as they leap about on the trampoline (Hmm one of them appears to be blindfolded; I'm not sure I've done a Risk Assessment on that particular activity).

DH was out this evening, and the cupboard was bare, so we've just got back from KFC. Blush

Paris sounds like Hard Work, MrsS.

Grin Grin at texting with thumbs. I am a pathetic one-finger-texter.

Now, MI, the million dollar question. Dress code for your par-tay.....Do I need to get the furs out of storage, or will a happy smile and clean underwear suffice?Wink

motherinferior · 04/06/2013 20:46

You don't have to wear underwear at all.Grin

Smile would be nice Grin

bigTillyMint · 04/06/2013 21:16

MrsS, if you want another reason to be glad you are leaving France, head over to the Pouffiasse thread. I'm having quite a Fancophile evening what with your FB posting and everything!

Thankfully no bickering DC her ATM, mainly as DS was out in the park till 7Smile

KFC CVShock Is that low carb?! And get your furs out - I'm getting mine! Well fake-fur - twill be chilly later, despite the forecast for a sunny daySmile

No knickers makes me think of an ex-colleague who drunkenly admitted to not wearing them to work....

Blackduck · 04/06/2013 21:17

MI - is the big day tomorrow then?

MrsS - any news on a leaving date?

Oooh ruby, haven't you met wilbur? I think I have only met her once, but she made a good impressionSmile

Glad to hear your first viewing went well - how exciting!

Thanks Ruby but short of bringing ds and the hound with me I can't see how I can do it ( and dp's flight has been changed so I don't actually know when he's back.)
Glad viewing went well. God yes, mortgage applications - worse than ever - the amount of stuff they want!!

I still haven't met half the crepeys, but that's because I am a slacker... :)

Stropperella · 04/06/2013 22:01

Hey, BTM, I saw Elvis Costello at Glastonbury - but I reckon it was 24 years ago. And very hot. And The Waterboys played as well. And I behaved very badly indeed. (I appear to have reached that stage of life where I forget the new stuff I need to remember and remember the old stuff I'd really rather forget Blush ).

addle · 04/06/2013 22:43

i think there are time out offers on EC tickets for thursday if anyone is interested or wants to try out behaving badly before MI's party ...

the weather looks great all weekend for all parties, which is great. hope everyone has fabulous and excessive time

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/06/2013 22:52

BD - I told AB that I was still working on an early September leaving date. He said "Why can't you go in August?" SadAngry I went in to see his boss today to explain the budget debacle, and the fact that it has been going on for weeks. He just said "Yeah, yeah, whatever, sort it out between you." I now have the feeling that the pair of them can't wait for me to leave. SadSad

Blackduck · 05/06/2013 02:34

Oh MrsS that is just absolutely crap. (Let alone bad management) is there no one further up you can go to? And with regards budget does it personally effect you or could you just leave it for AB

Am Angry and Sad on your behalf..... Sick leave? Seriously! Get signed off with stress for a week or three?

bigTillyMint · 05/06/2013 06:22

Stropps, that was the same one! You're probably right - 1989? I behaved beautifully, of course (having pulled a sickie on the Friday....)

Addle, I'd love to go and see him again, but I fear it is too far and life is way too complicated now to disappear off, just like thatSad Hope MI has some Elvis C on her playlist thoughWink

MrsS, agree with BD re getting signed offAngry

hattymattie · 05/06/2013 06:42

Mrs S - that is why I never go in those huge hypermarche's anymore - in our small local they are really nice - and I'm now an habitué.

Envy at crepey party - will need a full report, so that I can relive it vicariously.

Off to find Pouffiasse thread.

Blackduck · 05/06/2013 06:47

Elvis Costello - hammersmith Odean - mighty like a rose tour ..... Yeah thems the days sigh

hattymattie · 05/06/2013 06:52

Oh Pouffiasse thread much too long - not getting sucked into that. Asked DS and he just shrugged and said it meant "you're lazy and just sit there being pretty".HmmHe did not seem overly shocked.

bigTillyMint · 05/06/2013 08:51

hatty, that's interesting - that's what the OP was saying the reaction was in France. They are so much less PC there, and in their response to SEN's.

motherinferior · 05/06/2013 09:26

MrsS. agree totally re signing off sick. And yes, can you just leave the budget?

hattymattie · 05/06/2013 09:38

BTM - If they were SEN's I don't agree with insults - but I think the prof's especially in college are a bit freer with their language than in the UK. I have to confess I have no idea what happens to SEN's here - the children have never mentioned their presence in class.

Mrs S - yup - can you not just walk away? (and give them the finger)

Blackduck · 05/06/2013 10:05

Oh Hatty I didn't think that of you :)

MI Happy Birthday!!!!!

wilbur · 05/06/2013 12:44

Yes, Happy Birthday MI! Looking forward to Saturday and to re-meeting some crepeys and meeting ruby for the first time. Although I will have to bow out early as dh has reminded me he has VIP tickets through work to the silly Nocturne bike ride round Farringdon late in the evening.

Ruby - mortgage applications are mad these days - at one point I was about to offer to wee in a cup for them to prove who I was. Using both married and maiden names was a problem, as was being born in America. Hmm

Elvis was completely brilliant last night, and if I had the money I'd book again for Thursday. He is a god and later today I will be replacing a couple more of his albums which I used to have on tape (but which melted on the back seat of my car many moons ago).

bigTillyMint · 05/06/2013 13:33

HaPpY BiRtHdAy MI!

Wilbur, did he play any old stuff or all new?Envy

hattymattie · 05/06/2013 14:11

Hey BTM - I've just checked with DD2 who's come back (half day Wed's here). She says it definitely is swearing and would be very cross if her teachers said it to her. She says SEN children either - repeat a year - very common in France or there are special classes in some schools (but not hers apparently). Oh dear - I am getting sucked in aren't I?

Happy Birthday MI - somebody on the radio said they saw EC at the Albert Hall last night and it was fabulous.

motherinferior · 05/06/2013 14:15

Thank you all

I saw Elvis on stage some years back but was a bit pregnant and too wiped to enjoy properly, alas.

Today is 13th anniversary of my first positive pregnancy test tooGrin
