Oh that's rotten, Mrs S... We had a family bike ride to the pub, about 5 miles in all, so it was great for dd2 who is still 7...

I'm low carbing for the first time ever this week, with the impending blue slinky dress. I still don't have shoes to go with it, I looked this morning in town, but frankly, I really have trouble walking in monster heels.... I'll keep looking.

Ruby - my DH is working from home this morning. This means I have to look lively and clean stuff rather than Mumsnetting. Also he has just switched of R4 on the grounds that it's disturbing him and I'm not even in the kitchen listening - true but it sort of goes on and stays on whilst I drift in and out.

beachyhead · 28/05/2013 08:34

I think I'm after something that doesn't 'go' with the dress. As its navy, I could do a purple or pink shoe, do you think? Or should I be staying with nude, grey etc. the only heels I have at the moment are black and brown, so they certainly won't work!

I find heels easier than wedges, I think.

motherinferior · 28/05/2013 17:53

Well, after a fabulous weekend at our friends, we are now at DM's.
DH can now see why I am getting so frustrated with phone calls to her - word-finding capacity is abysmal! However, she has clearly not lost the plot yet, as her paperwork is in better order than ours!

Had a lovely lunch out with my fav uncle who is 86 and in a ukulele band (they do gigs at all sorts of places and have even been on the radio!) and is off to the TT races at the weekendSmile Hope I'm like him in 40 years time!

bigTillyMint · 28/05/2013 19:05

Nice sandals, Cremo!

And MI, I am thinking, is it already Wednesday of halfterm tomorrowShockSad!

hattymattie · 28/05/2013 19:31

I like the pink wedges Cremo (not that they're for me).

BTM - my parents are totally lucid but they say they have whole conversations with each other where nobody can find the right word. Mind you I have days like this myself Hmm

Pleased to announce - a full week of school in France - I think we're through the one bank Holiday a week season.

bigTillyMint · 28/05/2013 19:38

I have cobalt blue wedges not dissimilar to them!

Hatty, it's not the odd word, it's about 1 in 10 - she couldn't remember the words fridge and dessert earlier and had to show me what she meant - OK in RL, but rather more tricky on the phone! Plus I think she doesn't always understand what we are talking about because of the vocab difficultiesConfused

hattymattie · 28/05/2013 19:48

Oh that's not good - mine are more forgetful of names of people, places, films and books but basic day-to-day stuff is OK.

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2013 09:04

So how did the hols go CV, wilbur and MI?

We are driving back tonight instead of tomorrow as DD has parties to go to and is moaning A LOT about being away every school holidayConfused Going to take DM to see Gatsby this afternoon - I wonder if she will do her usual and snore through it.

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2013 09:05

And thinking of parties, not long till yours, MI! Are you getting excited?!

motherinferior · 29/05/2013 09:29

Oh, I'm very excited - just hoping the weather is nice enough for my dress!

Cremolafoam · 29/05/2013 10:39

BTM I'm going to see Gatsby tonight too . Looking forward to the 20s frocks.Smile

MI, don't worry about the weather - the drink'll keep you warmWink

hattymattie · 29/05/2013 15:54

Hope you all like Gatsby - I loved it - although hated the first ten minutes with lots of rap music.

I am wondering whether to buy some sale DM ankle boots, or a pair of brogues. Not that I can afford either but I need SOME kind of footwear!

hattymattie · 29/05/2013 16:22

Brogues look good if you haven't got long feet on the end of skinny ankles. Sort of gives a gollumy flappy effect (I speak from personal experience). The DM's go up to the ankles and so cancel out flappy foot issue.

DD1 looks fabulous in brogues Envy

wilbur · 29/05/2013 16:50

Ha ha at Ruby's hiding children. How very diabolical of them Grin.

MI - I like brogues a lot, but they only work on me at the end of K. Hepburn-style turn up trousers, but teeny feet like yours are probably good in them with skirts too. I may be delusional in channelling Ms Hepburn, but at least it's Katharine I'm aiming at and not Audrey. That really would be certifiable.

Hols very nice thank, BTM - ended up in Ludlow at an inn with rooms attached which was gorgeous. We ate everything in sight, and otherwise just wandered about with no fixed plans. Bliss. Dh gave me a lovely set of earrings and necklace which may make an appearance at MI's party. Smile

CointreauVersial · 29/05/2013 16:51

So that's why I look rubbish in brogues......

motherinferior · 29/05/2013 16:53

I have mutantly small feet, it must be admitted Grin

motherinferior · 29/05/2013 16:54

I have had FIVE girls here, two of them mine, today. The older three have now gone swimming. My own DD2 has a sleepover scheduled at a friend's. So it's just one tonight, and I think I may purchase a bottle of wine to recover Grin

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2013 17:16

Oooh wilbur, Ludlow is lovely. And earrings too - aren't you lucky (must get DH up to scratch for 2015!)

MI, well done on the girls front. Brogues!

Gatsby was spectacular. Was also a bit Confused about the mix of music, but that was maybe to appeal to the young ones? And it was a teeny bit slow at times (especially when sitting next to DS!)

rubyShockGrin At least DS didn't do that to DD not that it would have been very exciting - they have now spilt as she very definitely was only up for being friends at this stage. Sensible girl!
