Went out to dinner with my dad in an attempt to a. Get him to eat b. get him to relax. I think it worked. Dinning room full of Harrow school boys and their parents so we people watched.
Mum is fine, bleeding has stopped, but they are not very friendly on the heart ward and just being there is stressing my dad out.
Today I will do her laundry and things, before heading home tomorrow. Not exactly a restful bank holiday!
Oh well....

hattymattie · 26/05/2013 07:48

BD - good news about your mum. Shame they are not more upbeat in the hospital. Maybe the stress of working on such an intense ward. Crossing fingers she's out of the woods now and that you can get some rest.

We went to the chinese with friends last night and generally set the world to rights. I like people who you can have a good old ding-dong with and still be friends at the end. Not many around like that.

Today is Mother's Day in France so after my late night last night I was woken at 7.30 by DS with tea and toast in bed with a lovely card. Would have preferred an hour later but very sweet even so. No sign of the teenage DD's yet.

Ruby - high drama stuff!

We had a night out last night, together, for the first time in ages. Two birthday parties, in pubs, one in Islington and one in Stoke Newington, which meant getting on a 73 bus slightly tipsy. It felt just like old times.

DP had flown in from Boston that morning, so was exhausted. He still, however, managed to stay out until 1.30. He's still in bed, and is likely to remain there for some time.

bigTillyMint · 26/05/2013 11:45

Ruby, eeek!

Surprised I didn't end up in a ditch on our way back from the country pub - wine was goodWink

Now trying to get 4 teens/preteens out of the house....

CointreauVersial · 26/05/2013 13:41

DH suddenly felt the urge to drive to Brighton, which is why I'm enjoying the sunshine through the car windows on the A23.Angry

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/05/2013 15:47

I have been to a "brocante" (2nd hand tat market) near us and have bought some, err, second hand tat (a very small engraving and an icon) for 14 euros for the two. I now need to a) put the icon with the rest of our icons, so that DH doesn't notice we have a new one and b) find a small home for the engraving.

Cremolafoam · 26/05/2013 18:21

Lol mrs s. love a good vide grenier/ brocante. Dh always seems to find interesting things.
Lilac bush in my garden is still to bloom. Adore the scent of it.
We have had 3 actual sunny days, so I have put nets over the fruit bushes and planted up my window boxes. Gone for a pale pink and white theme and they will be pretty and hopefully a major distraction from the rest of the garden which looks like Wayne and Waynetta are in residence.Blush

Hoping for another day in the garden tomorrow but the sky has gone black and its starting to blow....

Gearing up for bed for my 3.45 alarm call. Gah. I just know I'm not going to sleep a wink for worrying about not waking up.

At that stage before a holiday of not wanting to go. Will miss DS. Will miss two of the best-ever 50th birthday parties tonight and next Saturday. All to spend it singing in the rain with mad people.

But I know really that I'll have a great time, so shall administer a slap.

Auf Weidersehen crepesters!

Viel Spaß, Herbs!

Dd went hormonally mad bonkers yesterday and was foul, but has now gone camping in Wales with friends. I hope she is being nice to them.

We have been making the most of the reasonable weather by being outside a lot, aside from lunchtime which was spent drinking a lot of Wine and scoffing pizza. Dh then decided to paint the sheds, which was probably not an entirely good move. He was dropped the headphones of his new mp3 player in the paint bucket, the paint on the shed is not exactly evenly applied and he seemed to get more paint all over himself (why did he not do his shirt up??) and my plants than he got on either of the sheds.

Stropperella · 26/05/2013 21:33

(dammit, why can't we edit posts? Then I could delete that rogue "was"..)

CointreauVersial · 26/05/2013 22:33

Well, Brighton wasn't all bad, although I did have to endure the grim Pier, because the DCs were desperate to spend my money on dodgems and 2p cascades. I bribed DS with a trip to Hollister, and we escaped to the Lanes, while DH lay on his back on the pebbles getting a sunburnt forehead and the DDs got wet knickers jumping in the waves.

Everyone was on Good Form, which makes all the difference, although DH and I looked wistfully at all the civilised child-free folk drinking beer in the sunshine and browsing the art galleries, as we rushed past looking for the crazy golf and doughnuts. I'm looking forward to doing very little tomorrow.

Herbs - have fun, I'm sure it will be a lovely break.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/05/2013 22:38

Oh wait - you have sun and hot weather in UK??? ShockEnvy

CointreauVersial · 26/05/2013 23:14

Sun, yes. Not particularly hot, though.

DH, being Irish, gets sunburn if there is a 10 minute gap in the clouds in February. Grin

Blackduck · 27/05/2013 08:16

Travel well herbs.
Dp is collecting me from the folks today after a pit stop at his mums to drop off hound and ds who I won't see for a week.
Sunny here today, but will spend a chunk of it in a car!
I would like a good nights sleep - am sleeping very badly.

bigTillyMint · 27/05/2013 09:01

Tis even sunny in South Manchester Cheshire!

Herbs, looking forward to ohotos in yout lederhosen on FBGrin

BD good luck with all the hospital/mum stuff.

Stropps, have visions of medallion-man clutching a paintbrush!

CV how brave going to Brighton on a BH, but it sounds like it was a successSmile

We had a big lilac tree in our front garden when I was a kid. We have a small lilac bush in our front garden now. One of my most favourite smells.

We are having a fab time at our dear friends - went into Mancs yesterday for shopping/nailbar/footy museum/culture -RaquibShaw exhibitionShock and down to Castlefields which was mobbed with the end of the Manchester Run. Manchester tart, anyone?!

beachyhead · 27/05/2013 09:11

Stropps, your house sounds like mine. Hormonal teens and paint splashing dh Grin

bigTillyMint · 27/05/2013 10:04

I am making the most of the DC being happy to be with their friends ATM - had a lovely evening last night with the girls (involving us taking a million photos of them posing and them doing our hair) whilst the boys were happily ensconsed watching some gory film.

Sadly, we have to go to DMs this evening, so normal moody, hormonal teen life will be resumed Sad

motherinferior · 27/05/2013 11:00

I am fitting together the crazed jigsaw of half term freelancing/childcare. The working mothers'' swap shop has begun ("if you have Emily on Tuesday morning I will have Naomi on Tuesday afternoon")... Sometimes I think it was easier when they were so little you just had to have formal childcare!

CointreauVersial · 27/05/2013 13:25

Ah, I remember the holiday child swap, MI. When I worked four days I used to do this with one of my NCT friends, and I always thought I got the better deal - I had her two polite, quiet children for a day, then she had my three little darlings.Grin

I have DM over for tomorrow/Wednesday for childcare duties, then on Thursday/Friday I'm despatching the DDs to a local activity centre, where they will be abseiling, orienteering and building woodland dens for the day (at vast expense). DS will be left largely to his own devices, but might be persuaded onto a football course. It's run by a friend, so I can drop him off on my way to work, and DS can help him set up.

BD, look after yourself......
