Calling all HOC winters.....

QueenCadbury · 21/04/2013 09:21

So, I had my colours done yesterday and I am now a sprinter winter. My best colours being royal blue, electric blue, damson, lagoon blue and light emerald.

Of course a shopping trip is now required Grin so I'm just after any inspiration by what you fellow winters have recently bought...

I'm now in my AW wardrobe which doesn't consist of anything hugely exciting. Mainly long sleeved grey and navy tees. Loving my black jeans again though.

I've just got rid of two bags of stuff. All the things I quite liked but never wore. I now realise they were the wrong colours for me which I most have subconsciously known and avoided.

It is good decluttering as I found a few things I had forgotten about. I have some flat, knew high brown boots that I am def keeping as I spent years looking for them and love them. I might pair them with my rebel khaki trousers haha!

MadAboutHotChoc · 26/09/2013 15:44

Well done Sunny.

Was in Fat Face today, saw this and thought of Kez Smile they also had this pretty cardigan and best of all a fab tunic that I want to get - they didn't have the green in my size though.

ElizabethBathory · 26/09/2013 16:04

Mad I've namechanged in honour of Autumn (was Kezz), and those are all gorgeous - think I like the grey fair isle version better than the blue. The emerald tunic is luurvely, great colour and pattern.

The Boden grey/pink/orange Scandi jumper has literally just arrived - haven't opened it yet but will report back.

I've been doing some more dying and didn't get on very well with the Antique Grey. It turned an already medium grey pair of trousers (which needed dying because of a stain) SLUDGE GREEN. But it darkened my medium grey skinny jeans nicely so they now look a rock chick distressed black.

Glad you like the Russian Red LC :)

Re. keeping khaki trousers I say go for it. Maybe I'm not a true colours convert but really I think unless something's next to your face it isn't a crime to wear it - as long as the colours work together of course. My lovely HOC lady was wearing black trousers and she was an Autumn with auburn hair. She had a necklace in Autumn colours and a autumny top and looked great.

MadAboutHotChoc · 26/09/2013 17:00

EB - It was the dark grey one that I tried to post, definitely my favourite colour and it didn't look at all twee/Christmassy so I am pretty tempted myself. Its made of cotton not wool though.

Shame about the dying - how annoying about the sludge green!

ElizabethBathory · 26/09/2013 17:56

OK the Boden jumper looks horrible on me. The pink needs to be deeper to work, the cream is too creamy and the orange is tangerine. It made me look grey and ill. I was wearing a damson jumper beforehand and it was a great example of the different effects colour has on your face!

ElizabethBathory · 26/09/2013 17:58

And yes it wasn't a khaki sludge green it was a dark, mouldy, bottom of a pond green Angry Boo.

KosherBacon · 26/09/2013 19:34

So I took two out of the three Gap jumpers back. I realised that the crew neck was making me look top heavy and they were in the "they will do" pile rather than the love pile. So I sent them back.

Dear Winters, I wrote to the shops to send me a nice winter jumper so they sent me a...
Crew neck- but it was too busty, I sent it back.
So they sent me a....
Cable knit- but it was too fussy, I sent it back.
So they sent me a....
Merino knit- but it was too chilly, I sent it back

You get the idea!

Fellow winters, I need a v or scoop neck sweater and cardie, in some good winter colours. I don't mind block colours and some patterns, but I am not a fair isle fan. I need something that is fairly fitted, will go in the washing machine and is reasonably priced (under £50).

I keep looking at Lands End and Woolovers and thinking, stop, you are only 33.

MadAboutHotChoc · 26/09/2013 19:50

Tis like the holy grail isn't it. Try Uniqlo - was impressed with their knitwear when I went in last week.

MadAboutHotChoc · 26/09/2013 19:54

EB - you're not having much luck either! The boden jumper was probably a too much of a gamble for a sultry winter. My boden trousers are going back - worn these today and the stretch in the material has made these too baggy and unflattering at the back, was horrified when I caught sight of my bum in the mirror while at work.

KosherBacon · 26/09/2013 20:16

MAHC- that's annoying with the boden stuff. I hate how their prices are going up and their quality is going down. I wish they'd stop with all the vouchers and just sell everything at a lower price point. The kids stuff is still good.

LCHammer · 26/09/2013 22:05

EB - I like your new name. Halloweenish.

I'm starting my new job next week if I get all my paperwork sorted. I should try and get my wardrobe and jewellery sorted by then.

Re: animal prints. I was reading that Chessington park is asking people not to wear animal print as it confuses the animals and some become shy or aggressive. We were on the Zufari at Easter and I thought it wasn't great - good excuse now with the prints.

ElizabethBathory · 26/09/2013 22:21

Thanks LC, I was gobsmacked it hadn't already been used!

LCHammer · 26/09/2013 22:41

Yes, it's such a classic. Dd2's middle name is Elizabeth, DH toyed with Erzebet to go really Goth but decided Elizabeth is enough. The others have a nod to Goth too (as middle names).

MrsRadicchio · 27/09/2013 10:07

Elizabeth I was looking at that Boden jumper too, but think it would be too bright for me too.

LC good luck with your new job. Do you have to buy much for your work wardrobe?

Kosher I am looking at Woolovers too! I am getting more fussy about wanting natural fibres, and the one thing I own from there already has washed well, getting softer with use. I agree it seems a bit 'gimmertastic' to use a phrase I saw on another thread. I think their stuff would work though, it is just the way it is styled in the catalogue.

I like the stuff in Royal Blue (I think, though haven't seen it irl) but it all seems to be the unisex stuff - so I am unsure about sizing and fit: I need things to be fitted otherwise look much larger.

I do want to get some stuff in my best colours though as am currently mainly wearing black, white and grey.

MrsRadicchio · 27/09/2013 10:07

Oh TKMaxx has some nice jumpers (clements ribiero in particular - I did an online search)

QueenCadbury · 27/09/2013 13:51

Anyone need a forest green faux fur coat? I'm a little bit in love with it but have absolutely zero need!

OP posts:
ElizabethBathory · 27/09/2013 14:13

Wow Queen I also have zero need but LOVE it! Wouldn't even be very warm though with elbow length sleeves Grin Will be keeping an eye out in case it goes in the sale...

QueenCadbury · 27/09/2013 14:35

'Tis gorgeous isn't it? I have no idea what one would wear with such a coat though. I'm going to JL tomorrow so will try and find it and see if it's as lush irl Grin

OP posts:
ElizabethBathory · 27/09/2013 14:41

Do let us know queen! I wish I lived near a JL

SunnyUpNorth · 27/09/2013 22:46

Elizabeth - I got you new Crew Clothing catalogue through today and they have a few really nice fairisle jumpers and jumper dresses in Winter colours.

ElizabethBathory · 28/09/2013 09:57

Well well, 20% off crew clothing this weekend and i love this! It fulfills my desire for fair isle and a wooly dress all at once! Thanks sunny :))

KosherBacon · 28/09/2013 10:13

EB- I've never heard of crew. What's the quality like? I love the look of this [http://www.crewclothing.co.uk/flora-cord-skirt-w55-2133-navyrosaprint/ floral cord skirt]. I wish they had the length listed though.

KosherBacon · 28/09/2013 10:13

oops let's try that again

ElizabethBathory · 28/09/2013 11:10

I've never had anything from there Kosher so I'm not sure! The skirt's v pretty.
