Grin

How did we finish the other thread so fast...? Less than a month.

OP posts:
Stropperella · 14/05/2013 21:50

And I definitely didn't end up drinking pink wine with her.

herbaceous · 14/05/2013 22:20

Twins friend has now very sweetly said she quite understands why I can't put her up. Phew.

Cremolafoam · 14/05/2013 22:46

Oh thank goodness herbs. And breathe.

Oh Lauren Bacall- wow ! was she gracious? I really want her to have been nice.Envy about having a squashed footGrin

Thanks Stropps . Ha! I made dd help her grandmother to shift all the furniture back the next morning. Looked a bit green about the gills.

Re Olivia Coleman . I really like her too. Especially in Green Wing.

Herbs glad the dilemma worked out.

Cremo - good to see you back, much strength to you.

MrsS agree with whoever said dont had in you revised bits until you have seen what he has done - again is there no procedure for this? Clearly after the recent events there was no way you were going to get an objective appraisal.

I am feeling meh about everything at the moment - I know I have to tackle a member of my team and really don't want to...

hattymattie · 15/05/2013 06:43

Herb's YANBU. You do not need maniac twins. We had similar for Christmas dinner with friends and DS actually wrote in an essay about his Christmas how they'd trashed his room and laughed (complete with diagrams of their misdeeds). Also had chocolate handprints on walls and found half eaten After Eight tossed into Hoover cupboard a couple of days later. It was like Armageddon Hmm. My children have actually banned them. In fairness they invited us this year so all good.

The Fall was really creepy - had trouble falling asleep afterwards - was wondering if DH was actually a secret serial killer Grin. I love Gillian Anderson - wish I looked as good - although I'm 5 years older.

beachyhead · 15/05/2013 08:41

Right, back onto S&B......Yesterday I ventured into TK Maxx at lunchtime and came across TWO dresses.....

The first sparkly dress could be my James Bond ball number. It is so comfortable (yes I know that's not supposed to be a consideration) but it does show my fat arms....But it feels glam Grin

The second lace one will be great for something. It's actually a lot more flattering as the black bits seem to helpfully coincide with my larger areas, so dull them down somewhat. I'm thinking next years work Christmas party!

motherinferior · 15/05/2013 09:33

Ooh, is the black lace one party-ish enough? (Mind you am worried my Birthday Frock is too matronly and restrained, myself, so who am I to talk...)

Our dishwasher appears to have died. This is really quite majorly tragic in our house. DP summoned plumber while I was out swimming. That'll be £100 at least down the, ahem, drain...

beachyhead · 15/05/2013 10:20

It's sort of Christmas party ish enough, as it's black lace (Agadoo Grin showing my age) over a nudey slip, but it's not dressy enough for the James Bond do...It could do a dinner party quite nicely or a standy uppy drinks party (not that I get invited to loads of those, but still). I could also witch it up for Halloween!

I should have said, I bought them both! Two frocks for under £100, I think that's pretty good.....

MI - bad luck on dishwasher death. So frustrating when that happens. Hope it gets better soon.

motherinferior · 15/05/2013 10:44

Am observing silence for Dishwasher Decline. Ooops. And I'd just had to make emergency payments to cover our holiday too...right, that's DP's helpful suggest re getting birthday party catered by local Indian out then

Like ther dresses Beachy i James Bond one looks great for the do!

MI, when our last dishwasher died, we got a new cheapie one - has lasted 3yrs so far!

And MI, my friends (married - I introduced them!) had their 40th catered by the local curry house - was great! No idea what it cost though! Do you need to cater - couldn't it just be nibbles?

bigTillyMint · 15/05/2013 11:11

rubyEnvy

Nothing mysterious at work, just the little darlings being even more difficult/demanding than usual. Thank God my DC are now a bit older and (usually) less demanding now - can't face it when I get home too!

motherinferior · 15/05/2013 11:17

I'll make a vat of curry, BTM, for the 7pm slot Grin. If nothing else, I'll need it. Won't be major effort. I've been making vast quantities of curry for decades. Just don't expect my fanciest efforts! What did you buy, dishwasher-wise?

bigTillyMint · 15/05/2013 11:41

That sounds like a relatively easy planWink
Can't remember offhand, but will try to remember to check when I get back home!

motherinferior · 15/05/2013 11:43

Many thanks

I may go to Aldi for booze at lunchtime Grin

herbaceous · 15/05/2013 11:52

I can recommend our Beko dishwasher. Came out near the top in Which tests, but is pretty cheap. Detergent flap refuses to open, but we just rest the tablet on the cutlery basket 'for sparkling results'.

bigTillyMint · 15/05/2013 11:55

Ours is integrated. Stuff al;way scomes out clean with no cloudiness (but that may be the Finish tablets!)

motherinferior · 15/05/2013 12:01

Phew, yes, a Beko is considerably less than the sum quoted by Mister Plumber...

CointreauVersial · 15/05/2013 13:04

Bisch Basch Bosch all the way in this house (not too pricey, but bombproof).

More £££ have been spent here having our central heating looked at - the finger of suspicion is now pointing to the programmer.....(sigh)

beachyhead · 15/05/2013 13:13

Bosch here too, but John Lewis tend to price match and have a minimum of 2 year guarantee....they do Beko, Bosch and their own brand....

MI DISHWASHER PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT OVER Grin

herbaceous · 15/05/2013 13:17

We got ours from Appliances Online. Which also has a warranty scheme of some description.

Would have got Bosch, but beko seemed better Which-wise. I don't move without asking which.

bigTillyMint · 15/05/2013 13:31

Yes, we have a JL washing machine which is working well.

We only ever use one programme on the dishwasher, so thought what was the point of paying for fancy schmancy!

I think we have bought stuff from Appliances Online tooSmile

motherinferior · 15/05/2013 13:31

Ours was a Bosch.

CV, central heating much worse disaster. Life can be lived washing up by hand (and quite a lot of that has been demonstrated this morning) but heating - especially in these Arctic circs - not so much.
