I think I would prefer flowers and food to leather. Then again, I'm a fatty who loves a good bit of cake Grin

AmberNectarine · 18/04/2013 08:01

Yes 3rd is leather traditionally, 4th is flowers. I think they front load the good stuff (paper = a cheque, cotton = clothes etc.) then it's years of copper and tin type shite til you get on to the jewels.

Hopefully · 18/04/2013 08:21

According to wikipedia I'm up for either cotton or paper this year. Hmmm.

Gorgeous day here today, it's making me feel positively spring-like!

QueenCadbury · 18/04/2013 08:22

I put these on for the 1stntime today. Dh was Shock saying that I can't wear those as they're all ripped. If you think I'm conservative with clothing choices he's worse! For me I feel ever so slightly rock n roll as I've got them rolled up with grey ankle boots.

mrssheep love the lace dress especially in navy. That's the kind of thing I'd wear for my 40th later in the year. If blush suits though it would look amazing.

I've managed to lose 7lbs this week. Hurrah. Ok so most of it was premenstrual water retention but even so by cutting back on the chocolate and eating sensibly I am very happy!

shopafrolic · 18/04/2013 08:39

No link QueenC?

OP posts:
MrsSheepiness · 18/04/2013 08:41

Morning, thanks Queen I love it in the navy too, since having my colours done I no longer wear black, but I have replaced it with navy so am trying to add a bit more variety! Thanks for the Pinterest follow too.

I have a bargainous gap order arriving today, i'll link to anything good as I think they have had further reductions today.

I was planning to revolve today's outfit around my brogues but it is very grey and miserable here so back to the just thrown on look with ankle boots for the preshool run.

foxysocks · 18/04/2013 08:50

yes liberty I took them down, they got lots of views v quickly which freaked me out a bit. sorry you missed them and thanks to everyone saying nice things Flowers.

i actually LOVE the tee this morning, might wear today with rolled up distressed jeans and grey biker, the sun is out! am still slobbing in yoga clothes as DH not working till later so he has done school/nursery runs.

we are rubbish at anniversary stuff. I think this is yr 6, or is it 7?

how does everyone store winter clothes? in bags under bed or similar - do I need to get moth repellent or anything for the cashmere (never owned cashmere before!)

Annianni · 18/04/2013 09:36

Hope you're feeling ok today Shop, even little prangs can be scary.

Those jeans are lovely Decam, but too £££.

I started putting my Winter clothes away yesterday Foxy
I put them in those plastic boxes on wheels that b&q sell.
I want some more lavender thingies to put in with them.

My no-spending till next month lasted long :o

I saw some beautiful jeans in Selfridges yesterday.
I tried these Goldsign but they didn't do me any favours.

I wanted to try these Paige Jimmy Jimmys but they didn't have my size.

Hudson May are fab, and I want some, but cheaper... obviously :o

I tried some other Hudson skinnys, and they had some beautiful Hudson bacaras but again, not in my size :(
And there were some fab Goldsign that looked similar to the bacaras.

The price tickets looked like they had phone numbers on them, instead of prices though!

I love the look of these but not the low rise bit.
So I got these instead for £24-99 and I want to shorten them slightly. They look great rolled up, and the denim is very soft. And I managed to squeeze my arse into a smaller size than usual, so the diet's still working.

I also got this grey tee
And a neon coral version of this I wear the navy one lots, and the coral looks similar to the Whistles one I tried on Monday.

carrie74 · 18/04/2013 09:39

Huh, it's our 10th this year. Tin, according to Wikipedia (although I think I prefer the modern version of diamond jewellery Grin). As per, we'll be ignoring actual presents, but we are jetting off to Lisbon for a long (child-free Wine) weekend.

QueenC like the sound of your rock chick look Smile

Sheep looking forward to details of your Gap order. Mine came yesterday. What I actually needed was a pair of straight black decent quality work trousers, but they only had the (US) 4 left. I'm a 4/6 in Gap, so hoped for the best, but sadly, they're going back. Customer service good, I called to see if there was any chance of an exchange, but nope, all gone Sad. I do still have pants for both kids, and some cute bedtime leggings for me Hmm.

santamarianovella · 18/04/2013 09:41

morning all,
hi mrssheep the lace one is lovely.
foxyi read on the frugality blog good tips on storing winter clothes,i bought the lakeland zipper bags for knitwear and scarves, and i have one of those big storage boxes,so will store them in it.coats and jackets will go in garments bags.
regarding the cashmere,i wrap them in tissue papers(i never throw them!)and store them in shoe bags,i never used moth repellent, but i read that cedar is good for protecting cashmere.there are cashmere protecter bags in white company but too pricy ,26 quid!

Annianni · 18/04/2013 09:45

Now, I need everyone to say a little prayer for me... as i've bought a version of these Goldsign off ebay. But they are coming from America, so there's no point trying to return them. The postage has cost me the same amount as the jeans did :o

Also got something similar to these from ebay for a bargainous £8-01

I'm wearing a version of this today, with my Hudson Gia skinnys, the grey Gap tee I got yesterday and the FC navy cotton cardi. Feel quite nice.
Pity i'm not going anywhere, apart from school.

MarshaBrady · 18/04/2013 09:47

That sounds lovely Carrie. We want to do Miami one year, we are not great at anniversary stuff either.

Anni lovely Gap jeans and tops.

Welcome Sheep. I like the lace one.

Am in heaven. After 4 weeks or so of school holidays all the dc (well two) are out. Silence is golden.

Annianni · 18/04/2013 09:47

Well done on the weight loss QueenC

And welcome Sheep, love the lace dress.

QueenCadbury · 18/04/2013 09:49

Oops,forgot to link jeans

Sleepwhenidie · 18/04/2013 09:50

Hi mrssheep the lace one would be my first choice too, especially if your style is classic. Its more sophisticated than the other two IMO, though I can see why you are tempted by the green one Smile.

I did just about squeeze into the Mango shorts and although they were only £28 I think they will look good with a white linen tee and a white blazer (which I am on the hunt for) - and, most importantly, brown legs Grin.

Do you guys usually pay customs fees to UPS for shopbop orders or do you do the payment direct to shopbop when you checkout? Presumably if you return things you get the customs fee back from shopbop, or do you have to claim separately? Confused

Foxy get some cedar balls to throw in with your cashmere.

MarshaBrady · 18/04/2013 09:50

Foxy re winter stuff I put hanging things in zipped up protective clothes things and will wrap cashmere up in tissue with cedar wooden balls and lavender scattered around. I probably won't put away the jumpers for ages, if at all.

Also you can put your pics on your profile and list your 'mn mates' in that section if too freaky to have ready to see links on here.

MarshaBrady · 18/04/2013 09:51

Anni love the Goldsign straight ones. They are gorgeous hope they are good.

Sleep well done on Mango shorts, haven't tried them but have heard they are tiny!

AmberNectarine · 18/04/2013 09:54

I've made a bad choice today - no tights. Am freezing. Will mercy dash to Boots at lunch!

Am wearing:
Faux leather midi skirt - charity shop so we'll call it vintage
Grey silk trimmed crew neck tee - Banana Republic
Black cashmere mix crew neck cardi (worn open) - Whistles
Snake print flats - Jemima Vine
Gold fox head necklace - Mulberry
Green mini Gracie - Anya

Like the outfit but am freezing!

Am excited at the opportunity to rifle through Other stories, Cos, BR etc at weekend. Also going to an extremely glamourous blogging event Wink

QueenCadbury · 18/04/2013 09:54

anni just saw that you've bought the same jeans as I've got on today. As you say they are lovely and soft even if dh thinks I look a scruff bag! I've been wondering too about getting them shortened as I love the length of these

santamarianovella · 18/04/2013 10:06

sleep i usually pay when i checkout,i have not returned anything.they send the fees back to my card in a month or so,they have lovely things and cheaper than uk but its the shipping and import duties that ruin it.
have you tried revolve clothing?i ordered with them in feb,and i paid much less in shipping and no import fee,but its usps so it takes around a week to arrive.

foxysocks · 18/04/2013 10:40

sleep i always pay taxes direct to shopbop. there is usually a mini refund a few months later back onto my card, just a couple of ££.

my j crew exp this week has taught me that under a certain amount there are no import fees. was cheaper to buy one tee than two, despite shipping.

thanks for storage info. i actually only have winter coats and a few hats/scarves to put away, I'll just leave the knitwear in the drawer I think, it doesn't take up much space and i have another drawer for tees/ls tops

decided against neon today it's a bit brrr. olive cashmere over charcoal boyf tee with indigo skinnies, but i might switch to grey skinnies. not sure olive/indigo working for me.

queenc they're aren't scruffy! lol at your DH. my DH is the opp of conservative, he had leopard print hair for all of his uni days. our more trad friends were appalled rofl.

amber brave! am not ready to loose the socks, nevermind go bare legged.

good tip on the pics, thanks marsha, will def do that next time i need some MNV opinions. x

Annianni · 18/04/2013 10:46

I'll try the jeans again later QueenC, but I think I want to take a couple of inches off the length, so they're above my ankle when rolled up a couple of times.

The tan leather Gap bag was fab yesterday and I'd decided to get a yellow one for Summer but they had none left.

If anyone decides they don't want their navy one anymore, I'll happily buy it off you.

AmberNectarine · 18/04/2013 11:16

Not really a wearer of socks. Only wear with boots in depths of winter.

Decameron · 18/04/2013 11:23

Lovely jeans, Anni. I have the Goldsign misfit which are great. Yes, I will wait for the sales for the grey Goldsign. Although like your Hudson ones a lot too.

I always pay the customs charge direct to Shopbop and they refund if there is a difference. I don't think they refund you the customs charge if you change your mind and return, unless there is a problem with the item.

Our anniversary this year (13th) is lace or textiles, which works for me!

I like the first lace dress a lot, Sheep.

My friend in the US has offered to forward on a Coach bag. Saw these on sale: satchel and this, but not sure about the neon yellow as I don't wear that colour. Also like it in the watermelon but not sure it is too bright? What do you think?

Decameron · 18/04/2013 11:24

Foxy, I use those protector bags, I bought a few from Pure Collection, they often have 25% off.
