WWW's put a spring in your step 10 years younger plan - week 1

Or week 3 if you were already doing it on the other long thread. Sorry guys, I'm on dial up for a brief while and so I've started a new thread, I hope that's OK. The rules, again:

This is not a diet. Being happy is important so the odd drink or something that makes you happy, like chocolate, is ok. As is the odd night of being out with friends and drinking wine/Cosmopolitans/whatever
BUT aim to eat reasonably healthily with lots of fruit, vegetables and fish
Drink as much water as you can, ideally 2 litres a day
take your make up off every night
cut back on alcohol or be smug like me and give it up for a while - 14 days so far and I feel great on it
Walk as much as possible: take the stairs instead of the lift; park a bit further from the entrance to the shops/work; walk to speak to someone rather than email if it's reasonable etc.
Use sunscreen every day
And I think that's it

I have to say I feel great for no booze and for eating well although I'm not doing so well on the exercise front. I am thinking about getting up at 6am next week to walk for half an hour in the morning sun but I'm not sure I'll be able to do it. Maybe, we'll see.

Anyway, welcome oldsters (from the old thread and oldsters in need of a 10 years younger plan) and newbies, all welcome. :)

8.5lb, winnie! That's brilliant. Well done you.:)

Blackduck · 09/05/2006 09:38

I have had a rubbish couple of weeks - I feel fat and horrible - I have eaten loads of stuff, drunk too much and generally missed the 'rules' by a mile.......But hey I had a wonderful day with ds on Sat (his birthday...)

kickassangel · 09/05/2006 10:17

a fairly good weekend, went for a bike ride in the rain! stuck to about 1500 calories, and found the sparkpeople.com website, which is like a FREE ww, but American. was feeling really good, until i went on the scales and realised i haven't lost any weight! will persevere though. having a stressy time at work, so not sleeping very well, but pilates tonight will probably chill me out a little.

Earlybird · 09/05/2006 11:10

Did well in some areas last week, but need to improve in others. Walked just over 60,000 steps (missed target of 70,000), and did an exercise class. Ate too many sweets, but hardly drank alcohol. Need to increase my water intake. Weighed myself for the first time in a month, and have put back on 1.5 of the 6 pounds I've lost...but frankly, after eating so much leftover Easter chocolate, I'm surprised it wasn't more. Ready to get serious again, and refocus.

WWWontSlagOffAnyone · 09/05/2006 21:48

Well done Winnie, that's brilliant! MI, oh well, never mind, tomorrow is another day and you do very well normally on the exercise and being a SIZE EIGHT front! Callmemadam, never mind, start again when you're not premenstrual. Blackduck, your homework is to think about WHY you want to do better :), Kickassangel, it's about feeling better so don't worry if you haven't lost any weight, keep going, Earlybird, well done on the walking, that's fab and only 1.5 is good esp if you thought it would be worse.

Today
I have walked, only a poxy mile but dd was dragging along so impossible to go further really,
used sunscreen on said walk (at 6.30pm, first time I'd been outside since 9am this morning), not had enough water but have been fairly happy and eaten well:

Toast and Marmite x 2
apples x 3
raspberries
strawberries
62 cal Smoothie
small smoked salmon sandwich on seeded bread
cereal bar 107 cals
some berry mix
salad
tomatoes
omelette with 1 egg and red pepper

I must admit I feel so good for not drinking that I'm not remotely tempted. Plus am v busy at work and need to be focussed so doubly not tempted. I do believe I will be able to keep it up until the 8th July.

And weighed myself this morning and in that 18 days I have lost 7lb so it's an incentive to keep going. Well done everyone, keep it up!

Oh,is this where we are at now??
Moving on from dps leaving via www 6 week plan??

Well I've been doing ok.
Haven't boozed in the 4 weeks I've been in Turkey (not hard, nobody does here) apart from about 6 glasses of wine and choccy cake on my birthday last Thursday.
Walking loads and going to the gym a fair bit (fuck all else to do) and trying to not go overboard when faced with gorgeous Turkish food.

Chargrilled lamb kebab with hot butter sauce and home made bread, followed by wodges of baklava anyone??

A surefire way to an arse like a carthorse.

kickassangel · 10/05/2006 09:26

the scales say i may have lost a pound or two (dodgy scales, hard to tell), and TWO people told me i had lost weight yesterday! Yeah! Also ran out of food at home (the week from hell, i don't have time to go shopping!), so only drinking water today until i can get to a shop!

Blackduck · 10/05/2006 09:56

WWW - I want to do this cos when I do do it I feel so much better (does that make sense?). My 'excuse' is having a rubbish time workwise and everyhting including my eating/drinking tends to go to pot when that happens....

yoyo · 10/05/2006 10:07

Sticking with it. Eating healthily, much-reduced alcohol intake, walking and pilates. Need to work on feeling less stressed as even the slightest thing is winding me up at the moment. Think I just have too many things going on and it is hard to switch off. Not really noticing a huge improvement in energy or appearance sadly.

Winnie -- well done on the weight loss.

WWW --- admire your determination re: alcohol.
Moondog -- good to see you back. You sound a bit bored out there (boredom would drive me to food and drink so well done on resisting).

Household stuff to get on with.

WWWontSlagOffAnyone · 11/05/2006 20:52

Well done on the not drinking moondog
good that you've lsot some lbs kissass
blackduck, can you tell yourself that doing this stuff will make the stress easier to cope with rather than harder, since it's all about feeling good about yourself?
yoyo, well done, that's good, ditto my comments to blackduck. Sorry you 2 are stressed atm. How is everyone else?

I have:
taken make up off
drunk lots of water, def 2lt
eaten toast
grapes
blueberries
raspberries
apples x 2
hummus sandwich
cereal bar
salmon fillet
mediterannean vegetables
a medium slice of carrot cake

but my skin is terrible! It's v annoying. I suppose I've prob only been getting 7 hours sleep and work is hectic, so maybe that's it. So I'm still motivated and still no booze.

motherinferior · 11/05/2006 20:57

I'm knackered and look about 10 years older - but a full night's sleep should help.

moondog · 11/05/2006 21:12

I got up early, went to the gym and ran 6km (no joke at 1650 metres so very proud of self)

Hada Turkish friend round for lunch (made her some Indian food) and we both had a large Efes beer. Very welcome.

Am probably known as local Van loon as I walk back from the gym(a couple of kms) in a large flowery hat to keep the sun off.
Not a Turkish/Kurdish look at all.

Back to UK tomorrow so no more lovely Turkish food and eating out every day for a song. Sad

I am going to have laser treatment on some sun damage on my face over the next couple of weeks.
Anyone else had this???

Blackduck · 11/05/2006 21:20

I'm off on holiday (to Turkey - sailing/swimming/food..) on Sat so will try to be reasonabl good Grin.......will certainly be less stressed....
WWW - ever thought about a career as a life coach?

moondog · 11/05/2006 21:21

Where are you going BD??

WWWontSlagOffAnyone · 11/05/2006 21:22

Blackduck, I am deeply crap at sympathy irl! Me: 'oh fgs if you're ill go to the doctor, if you're not shut tf up please' (this to adults, I'm better with children, obv!)

OP posts:
Blackduck · 11/05/2006 21:26

MD - ummm - don't know the name (thats crap isn't it....) doing sunsail at Perili which I kow flies into Dalyman and does a horrendous transfer ......
www - well you do great 'virtual' sympathy...

yoyo · 11/05/2006 22:41

Laser treatment? What does this entail? Are we talking sun spots and pigmentation or worse? I am a spider-veined Celt who has a glimpse of herself at about 7.30 am and dares not look thereafter. Methinks aging is pretty crap.

moondog · 11/05/2006 22:49

Just some little sunspots yoyo.
Nothing major.

Blackduck · 12/05/2006 14:19

Moondog - Dacta coast...

motherinferior · 12/05/2006 16:27

I am feeling ancient, knackered and gloomy but am going out tonight and DP's paying so should cheer up.

Earlybird · 12/05/2006 16:40

OOhh - MI, hope you have a fab time tonight. Myself....I'm sat here thinking how happy I am at the prospect of a night in, and early bed following the frantic pace of this week.

Quite chuffed that I have already surpassed my weekly walking target of 70,000 steps. Haven't achieved that in quite a while.

winnie · 12/05/2006 22:14

How is everyone doing?

kickassangel · 12/05/2006 22:56

just blown it! did kick boxing las night & could actually walk at the end, but tomorrow is my birthday, so TODAY i ate 3 bowls of strawberries & ice cream & drank pimms & lemonade!

WWWontSlagOffAnyone · 12/05/2006 23:15

Happy Birthday kickassangel, I think you can be excused on your birthday and anyway, strawberries are very good for you AND the aim is to be happy, remember? :)
MI, I hope you're somewhere lovely as I type this, do report back and we can enjoy the food/wine vicariously.
Earlybird, well done on the steps, that's great!
How are you winnie? Scummy? Batters? Callmemadam? Saggars? Tai? Tigermoth? Yoyo?

I have been ok today, no exercise for the millionth day running and only 6 hours sleep last night because ds woke me at 6.15am, ugh, but I ate
boiled egg, toast and marmite
3 apples
strawberries
blueberries
grapes
cereal bar
half a kit kat
hummus sandwich
spicy chicken
salad
70% cocoa chocolate
packet of Tangy Toms (disgusting 10p 100cal crisps given to ds by ex SIL)
No sunscreen but didn't go anywhere
No booze still

Have a good weekend everyone!
