WWW's put a spring in your step 10 years younger plan - week 1

Or week 3 if you were already doing it on the other long thread. Sorry guys, I'm on dial up for a brief while and so I've started a new thread, I hope that's OK. The rules, again:

This is not a diet. Being happy is important so the odd drink or something that makes you happy, like chocolate, is ok. As is the odd night of being out with friends and drinking wine/Cosmopolitans/whatever
BUT aim to eat reasonably healthily with lots of fruit, vegetables and fish
Drink as much water as you can, ideally 2 litres a day
take your make up off every night
cut back on alcohol or be smug like me and give it up for a while - 14 days so far and I feel great on it
Walk as much as possible: take the stairs instead of the lift; park a bit further from the entrance to the shops/work; walk to speak to someone rather than email if it's reasonable etc.
Use sunscreen every day
And I think that's it

I have to say I feel great for no booze and for eating well although I'm not doing so well on the exercise front. I am thinking about getting up at 6am next week to walk for half an hour in the morning sun but I'm not sure I'll be able to do it. Maybe, we'll see.

Anyway, welcome oldsters (from the old thread and oldsters in need of a 10 years younger plan) and newbies, all welcome. :)

SW - I truss they up but fear it's too late for my baps to ever appear on page 3 (or the beach).

Enjoy your wine - and don't feel guilty about it, especially as I am now drinking vicariously through you (I like a nice Shiraz or Pinot Grigio btw).

WWWontSlagOffAnyone · 01/05/2006 19:27

Well, if we're going to drink vicariously through SW then mine's either Champagne or a Chablis 1er Cru please We will be drinking something expensive come July, I can tell you, since I'll probably be asleep after 1 glass of it. Well, that's if I make it til then without alcohol. I haven't done any exercise today but neither have I worn any make up so there's none to take off. And I wasn't outside so no sunscreen. And I've eaten
toast x 2, with marmite
small glass apple juice
sardines on toast with salad with rocket, kidney beans, capers, pine nuts, beetroot, tomatoes, mackeral
an apple
a load of strawberres and raspberries with a small amount of dairy free ice cream
a tiny piece of PE Margherita pizza from dd's plate
one square of G&B 70% cocoa solids Espresso chocolate

And we went shopping and stocked up with ingredients from Fat Girl Slim (fab diet recipe book for anyone who hasn't seen it) and lots of fruit for my desk so I should be ok this week.

Btw, I forgot a rule!

Get enough sleep! Aim to be in bed by 10.30pm if pos

have you lost www

WWWontSlagOffAnyone · 01/05/2006 19:31

Cod, I haven't weighed myself yet but, in pathetic fashion, did get on the scales and get dh to look after 8 days of being good and no wine and he says I have lost weight. I want to weigh myself after a month and see how I've done then, so another couple of weeks and I'll find out. I was back to a stupid weight which of course I will never ever admit here until I've lost it all.

tigermoth · 01/05/2006 20:42

beetroot, davian sounds efficient. I have never done pilates though but will investigate. What I could realy do with is an exercise or set of exercises that super quicky tone up the waist to hip area, not forgetting the tummy of course. I am asking the earth, aren't I?

tigermoth · 01/05/2006 20:48

winnie, I was out shopping today and was wondereing what high wedges you got - there are lots of them in the shops. Holding that thought, I was in Primark at the time, and I wandered over to the shoe section. I saw the most wonderful gold sequin covered high heel espadrilles (£5.00 bargain) and just had to buy them. Thank you for pointing me in that direction! I haven't bought anything with heels for years.

Your week as described is full of goodnescs - you must be glowing with virtue :)

ScummyMummy · 01/05/2006 20:48

lololol at getting dh to look for you, www. I am rejoining this thread on Wednesday. Really need to get water intake back up and eat more fruit and veg. Also need to get a new moituriser- yeah! Am eating crap and staying up all hours trying to finish an essay till wednesday though.
batters- you are a sweetie. And last time I saw you you were looking great yourself too.:)

ScummyMummy · 01/05/2006 20:50

Hi t'moth.:)

tigermoth · 01/05/2006 20:51

wwwont - re working exercise into your normal routine. I find it's the only way I can do it. I like the effect but hate the actual doing of it.

tigermoth · 01/05/2006 20:57

Hi scummy - good luck with the essay - you were looking very healthy when I saw you last, so I am sure you can withstand crap food and late nights for a whilewithout it affecting you.

(off subject and just a quick aside - do you know there is a parenting column in the Sunday Times called 'slummymummy'?

tigermoth · 01/05/2006 21:00

batters :) thanks :) Hope your afternoon was as relaxing as you planned.

(if you saw me in my at home PJs fab and stylish would not be the words used to describe me)

winnie · 01/05/2006 21:20

Tigermoth, iirc the original point about buying oneself something frivolous and fun came from Scummy but I am glad you found yourself some too. And a bargain too.
Mine are black and gold strappy ones Blush I love them in a way I haven't loved things I wear for a long time! I didn't wear heels for a long time (years and years) and in the last four months I've bought four pairs of heeled shoes/boots Blush

I have had a good day :)
Exercised first thing, ate really well including a sin free family meal with h, dd & ds. I've drunk lots of water, etc ... & I've pottered around my garden enjoying the sunshine. Am feeling happy ;)

Anchovy · 01/05/2006 21:34

Can I join in? I'm usually pretty sorted, but have just had 6 weeks away - on and off - on business and its all gone to pot. Need to get a grip on myself, re-start my running, find a new pilates class, cut down on my drinking etc etc etc. Desparately need to catch up on my sleep, so my mantra will be lights out by 11am. also intend to walk from the station to work every day during May, and not drink during the week, unless completely unavaoidable. Oh and feel free to give me a virtual slap if my portion sizes are actually bigger than my tummy.

Judd · 01/05/2006 21:45

Is there still room for a little 'un? Would like to just generally improve myself, although half a stone off would be very very nice. And if it was by mid June, then I could wear a tankini on the beach on holiday!
What sort of exercise can one do easily at home in the evenings? Is a video/DVD the best way? It's great having a gym membership, but DH is working away all week so I can't use it.

WWWontSlagOffAnyone · 01/05/2006 21:54

Welcome Anchovy and Judd. Judd, no idea, walking's going to be my thing, I know I won't end up doing a dvd. But someone else will recommend something I'm sure - Beetroot says some woman called Davian is good :)

WWWontSlagOffAnyone · 01/05/2006 21:55

Anchovy, it's really hard to eat healthily when away I find.

kickassangel · 02/05/2006 11:36

having a bad day - i forgot my lunch, which means entering the pizza & chips haven of school canteed, someone has given my dept (and particularly me) a big box of double choc muffins, and i have not drunk anything yet today! Will go & get some water, and i have at least arranged to go kick boxing on Thurs.

motherinferior · 02/05/2006 14:01

DD1 asked me last night why my tummy was squidgey and wobbly not like hers Angry

Blackduck · 02/05/2006 14:23

MI lol.....you didn't point out 'cos she is loads younger than you Grin
Worries me when ds says - pointing at wine bottles 'mummy's'....

Cappucino · 02/05/2006 14:51

can I still join? it's all gone a bit downhill since lent when I gave up booze and chocolate - can't give up booze again but must try for gym, drinking water, eating better, taking makeup off, etc

also will add personal goal of 'brushing teeth' since I'm so obsessive about running after the kids with their toothbrushes that I get exhausted and sometimes forget my own... Blush

moonshine · 02/05/2006 17:30

My ds delights in lifting my shirt to reveal my spreading doughball to the world - nice.

Foodwise still good, although I could murder a truffle or 20 (the chocolate variety - I'm common me) but my muffin top has definitely receded. I must also sing the praises of John Frieda's brilliant brunette conditioner. It really has made my hair shinier.

Also, did anyone see this week's Grazia? It's made some extraordinary claims for a couple of fat-busting/firming creams but it's all too good to be true, surely??

yoyo · 02/05/2006 18:05

Did my pilates class and thought it was fantastic. Did have to do it in front of wall-to-wall mirrors in front and behind but it actually made me even more aware of the need to "tone my woman's zone". Will be going back next week for more.

Just going to make Bean and bacon soup for supper and knock back some water too.

soyabean · 02/05/2006 18:17

WWW thanks for your words of encouragement.Have been 'away' cos old pc broke down and and we have had to spend lots of ££ on a new one, which I am pleased to say I seem to have managed to set up OK. Anyway here I am and still going to try and stick to this. I dont weigh myself every day really, but was just bewildered at the differences in result. Really I just want to feel a bit smaller round the tummy, dont care what actual weight is as long as I never go over 11 stone agaain!I am going to weigh at chemist tomotrrow then in a month, just to see.

Yoyo i have worry wrinkles on my forehead too, they seem to have got much worse, and I do look like I'm frowning all the time which I really am not!

MI 60 lengths is impressive; I do 40 (25 m), twice a week but I just get bored, could physically do lots more but after half an hour or so I just cant be bothered. do you have a trick to keep yourself going?!

Not too bad this week, have had no sneaky choccy snacks, lots of fruit and veg, water OK, 2 beers on Fri and 2 glasses wine sat, not too bad.

No early nights though, and its not as if I'm usually doing anything interesting.

Anyway, good luck everyone

Callmemadam · 02/05/2006 19:39

Hi everyone, I'm back too and This Time I Mean It!! Had dd4's 4th birthday on weekend and ate sausages, biscuits, cake, little choccie crispy things I made a la Nigella Blush etc etc and then a HUGE plate of smoked salmon risotto last night. Now have hideous headache and feel bloated to boot. Oh the shame. WWW I am deffo on for Botox as well. Anyone had it done - I know there's somewhere in Tunbridge Wells that's supposed to be v. good and I want to find out where - I have a droopy eyelid to add to my yukky bits

WWWontSlagOffAnyone · 02/05/2006 21:14

I've had an ok day. Realised it's ridiculous to think of walking at 6am, not going to happen, but I did take in a huge bowl of fruit to work and my flat boots (v elegant with my suit, mmm) and go for a walk, albeit a poxy 10 minute one, at lunchtime. Drank at least 2l water too. Ate
boiled egg, toast x 2 with marmite
apple
handful strawberries
organic cereal and raisin bar 107 cals
handful blueberries
3 bean soup
half piece wholemeal bread (threw crust plus a bit extra away as it was to have with my soup and wasn't very nice once I'd mopped some up with it)
2 more apples
chicken thighs x 4 done in a sauce from Fat Girl Slim with loads of roasted veg
And I will have some 70% chocolate later but not much of it
and I've already taken my make up off.
Day 15 of no booze
So not bad :)
