Time for a new bra thread

I am officially a mad bra lady. I staged an intervention today in M&S in an attempt to stop a young lady buying a 36B. She was with her mum who told me her daughter was a size 12 and that's why they'd picked up a 36. I advised her to try a 30! I am now feeling a mixture of shame and pride.

They were like this Shock Confused

I've got three pictures showing me in a 32b nursing bra. It's a hot milk one the put me at 34b and it pulls a good few inches. I should be a 30DD. Let me know where to send the pictures. I can text or email Smile

Shameless repost asking for help. Need ideas of what style/makes to try ... Am 32dd or 30e. Can't do moulded bras as have no fullness left iykwim ... Tried a couple the other day and the best was the triumph amourette but wasn't great. I think I need some stretchiness and lots of support ... Hoping to get to Oxford st on Thursday. Any recommendations as to where and what I should try. Will only have an hour or so so would be great to have some ideas of what might be worth a try if anyone can help. TIA.

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/03/2013 19:12

Bad bra photos to [email protected] heads will be removed!!

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/03/2013 19:13

mzdemeanor, if you are short on time I would go straight to Bravissimo and let them do the running. There is one very near Oxford Street - you could book an appointment?

mzdemeanour · 04/03/2013 19:32

Are they that good then ... When I last looked at their website it seemed full of moulded types or balconette numbers that might be a bit too vavoom at my (frighteningly)advanced years but if it's the place to go I am happy to go there

SpottyTeacakes · 04/03/2013 19:35

Done BlushSmile

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/03/2013 19:39

No they have a huge range I promise.

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/03/2013 19:44

Thanks spotty! Nothing like as bad as what I just posted so no Blush needed!

Casmama · 04/03/2013 20:03

I think probably know the answer to this but if I try on a 36GG and the cup fits well but I can easily do it on the tightest fastening then I should try a 34H is that right?

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/03/2013 20:05

Yup, spot on :)

Casmama · 04/03/2013 20:06

Thank you Smile

cerealqueen · 04/03/2013 22:08

I'm finding this thread fascinating! I sense a revolution....
Is there a new formula for bra fitting where you don't add 4/5 inches depending on under breast measurement? (sorry if has been posted, lots to trawl through!) thanks!

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/03/2013 22:11

There is, and had been for a long time but most retailers don't care and keep getting it wrong.

check out thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.co.uk/ for full fitting advice(save you wading!)

OneLittleLady · 04/03/2013 22:42

You ought to add Debenhams to the poll for bad fitters. They measured me the worst out of everywhere I tried.

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/03/2013 22:52

DRAT! I meant to include them

cerealqueen · 04/03/2013 23:28

Thanks for the link Statisticallychallenged Only just got round to measuring myself. I measure 31 below and 38 above.... so would I be a 30FF??? I'm wearing a 36C Nursing bra (it has seen better days) and have always worn a 34/36B pre DC !!!!!

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/03/2013 23:31

Yup, that's where to start.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/03/2013 11:01

Right I've got all my new bras. I think one of them fits ok.

In 30DD:

The Freya one is massive in the cup
The Royce Charlotte is massive in the cups
The Panache fits I think. I could probably do with a 28 but I don't think they go down to that? My only queried are it's slightly loose at the top of the band under my arm and the central bit isn't against my chest but tbh I have a permanent cleavage atm even when not wearing a bra. I've done it up on the middle hook.

The Royce Charlotte and Sadie in 28E are just too tight I think.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/03/2013 11:06

Oh they have the panache in a 28E in eBay would that fit better do you think?

treaclesoda · 05/03/2013 11:14

The 28E could be worth a try if the other one is too loose. You could always ebay it again yourself if you decide its not great? If you can be bothered of course!

SpottyTeacakes · 05/03/2013 11:16

Hmm it is hassle maybe I should just keep the 30DD. It does look really nice. I might email a picture to go next to the 32B I was wearing!

cardoon · 05/03/2013 12:00

Can you ladies help me find a bra site - £50+ bras, Very few styles/colours but looked like real quality, quite simple styles. Thought it was called Prima Donna but no that's a bit different......loving the bra chat...... (well fitted 32FF here!)Grin

treaclesoda · 05/03/2013 12:27

Is it the name of a particular brand that you've seen that you are trying to remember Cardoon?

Limelight · 05/03/2013 13:51

Well as suggested by MN's resident Bra Tsars, I am indeed a 36F!

Thank you! My boobs are suddenly magnificent! Grin

ClairesTravellingCircus · 05/03/2013 13:52

Hello bra gurus I need a piece of advice here..
I have orderedacurvy kate in a 32 FF since Panache wasa bit small in the cup in a 32F but it is too big, I had to do the band up in the tightesthook and it's still very comfy, and cup's gaping at the top.

Should a 30F be ok? I am ordering from abroad so returning and exchanging is peoving rather expensive Confused

Many thanks!
