It had to be done.
Phew that feels better.
Over here crepeys. All very welcome (but only if you're crepey).

I have just spent a very wet morning interviewing a fairly amazing couple of foster carers, who've been on holiday in NZ with profoundly disabled kids. Really, really interesting. And inspiring. Now finishing a different feature, and generally trying to earn a bit of cash Grin

I have done a LOT of cooking...

Happy Birthday to the elder Inferiorette! The Schadenfraulein is 12 next week. We went out this morning to get her birthday present and had lunch out. The Larger Schadenfraulein was playing basketball.

I did do as badly as I feared in the interview, Hags. Let's hope the next one goes better.

Oh no, MrsS, have you had feedback? Stuff it. That wasn't the job you wanted, remember? (But I hope they get very itchy bottoms in any case.)

Soberingly, TWO people I knew slightly - both mainly in touch through FB - have died; just found out about the second one. Both women, one slightly older and one slightly younger than me. It is a wake-up call to stop feeling sorry for myself and live tipsily in the moment.

Oh MrsSSad Was it that bad? And Aas MI says, you are wanting the next one more...

Sorry to hear about the deaths - I agree - we need to make the most of the time we have as anything could happen Smile

Happy Birthdays to the girls - DS will be 12 in about 6 weeks. God knows what he will want to do to celebrate! Eeek!

Oh MrsS sorry to hear that - anything positive/useful you can take from the feedback?

Happy Birthday to various offspring!!

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/02/2013 21:06

It was someone I know who was the main interviewer. She is not sending me the feedback until after my next interview, but said "it just wasn't you in that chair." She also said she thought the other job was a better fit for me and that I need to get out of working for international organisations (I agree) and do something different. A plus was that I was the only person of my grade to be interviewed (it would have been promotion for me) - everyone else was already in the grade.

DH eats flaxseed every morning as part of his bonkers diet healthy eating regime, and says you have to grind them or you don't get the benefits and they pass straight through your system. When he was extolling the virtues of flaxseeds to his mother she said "Don't give me that crap. You eat them to get bigger erections. I read about it in my magazine." Grin

MrsS - my mum also grinds her linseeds, citing the same reasons as your DH. Not sure she's worried about her erection, though....Confused

MrsS really sounds like you weren't on form, hopefully it will turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Would the next job be back in the UK? When's the interview?
I have a friend over for the weekend, they were all told to be work on Monday for a meeting - he thinks redundancies are on the cards - shitty that they tell them this Friday night leaving them with the whole weekend to worry....

Yes, that's crap BD.

Well, only 5 sleeps to goSmile

Quiet here ATM as DH has taken DS off to play a match and DD is just back from a sleepover and finishing homework before she goes out to meet her boyfriend...

I have been eating linseeds every day for 15 years. Without them, my digestive tract apparently ceases to function. I had 3 days off about 18 months ago and it took my guts a week to get back to normal afterwards. A different type of addiction, I suppose. Grin I used to take them in the form of oil, but I rely on my teeth to crush at least a proportion of my daily portion now, seeing as the oil is rather expensive.

And that concludes today's TMI section of my post. Grin

Sorry to hear about the job, MrsS, but good luck with the next interview.

Re: wake up calls - I have found my overall outlook on life quite changed by dh's cancer diagnosis. Yes, I still get depressed by my appalling mediocrity etc but I am better at noting the good bits whilst they are actually happening. Also "Could be worse" is a more useful mantra than I used to think it was. Last week there was a horrible accident at a local showjumping event in which a Yr13 from dd's school died. The poor girl fell off her horse and took a kick to the head. She was a very talented horsewoman and part of the school team that had recently competed in the National Schools Equestrian Championship and come 6th.

So I am tending to focus more on trying not to "sweat the small stuff", as they say.

Yes, I am working quite hard on turning things round - I am monitoring the fact I tend to huff a default sigh and say I'm so tired, which immediately makes me even more knackered. Whereas if I tell myself a bracing lie about how I am actually feeling more energised because of Blah and Blah it can, sometimes, fool me.

I did go swimming this morning. And have just invoiced for a cool £840, which is cheering.

Report
Stropperella · 03/02/2013 11:12

I have to do the invoicing today, which will be quite a positive experience as we have some new customers (hooray) and we have loads of work in for next month (double hooray). My ma also gave me rather a fat cheque for my b-day (whoop-whoop) and today I am going out for my third b-day meal. Dragging family west to Devon, bracing beach followed by slap-up grub. Have informed dh that this is his treat for me. Grin I feel I have got maximum mileage out of my b-day this year, unlike in previous years.

I'm not a very weepy person, but I did shed some tears over that poor Y13 girl and her family. So desperately sad.
