My hair is too fine to grow long, so I always have it short, and I am very grey (never dyed it and was goinging slowly grey from the age of 14 - thanks dad).

Just been to asda to stock up on miso and other low-calorie soups. I must be hungry, as even that particularly grim asda smelled delicious!

DS is breaking my heart at the moment, not wanting to go to nursery. He sobs and clings on to me, saying he wants me to stay, or that he just wants to be at home with me. Until a couple of weeks ago he loved it.

Thank you all for the birthday greetings. I am feeling more than averagely crepey today after imbibing a significant amount of champagne last night. (Er, yes and that ice cream, of which there is now none in our freezer ) Dd claims that she is making me a cake after school, which will be nice. I am impatiently awaiting delivery of all the presents that I have ordered for myself, as dh didn't bother to think about it in advance (as usual). Is not a prob at all, as this year I thought about it well in advance and have enabled him to give me plenty of nice stuff . However, ds was outraged by my lack of presents this morning, bless him.

Tis my birthday at half term and I have also taken matters into my own hands by booking myself into a half-day perfumes workshop (why, thanks, DH).

It wasn't expensive, and should be a fun way to spend a morning. It's my current mini-obsession, fuelled by the Perfumista thread

I too gave up waiting for dp to buy my birthday present (back in Jan) and went out an bought it myself on Saturday - 'oh, he said, I didn't think you could get it locally' FGS it wasn't something rare and exotic, it was only bath and show cream....

And I GOT MY PASSPORT - I'm off to Washington on Saturday, yippee! The Embassy was quite efficient, actually, in and out in 2 hours. I think if you jump through all the hoops, come with every possible thing they might request, then they will help you. One guy was trying to register his out of wedlock baby to take to the USA next week and didn't have all the right papers. He's probably still there now. Nice to see the building again, before they move to Battersea Dogs Home, although tbh I think they've overdone the eagle motif inside.

I have no money, but I may do a leetle shopping while I am Stateside - there's an Anne Taylor just round the corner from my hotel. Everything I ever bought from there I have worn to falling apart, so it's an investment, innit?

Hi thanks for the welcome. Yes scarfs; I brought a lovely fuchsia cotton mix scarf from New Look a few yrs ago for about a tenner and have worn it loads and it's a bit raggedy now so looking for a replacement (determinedly ignoring all the other scarfs in my wardrobe)

A bit of a meh day really as stayed at home as DS did not go to school, his ongoing cold had given him with sore throat & ears & he slept badly. I did some household chores /cleaned out kitchen drawers but did enjoy going back to bed for a nap after phoning work & school.

Can I ask, what age can you leave your DC's at home when they are ill-ish but not at deaths door? Not that I am desperate to go to work nor have that important job but just wondering

Funny you should say that, Redfox, DS was left home alone with a slight sniffle streaming cold yesterday, while I was at work. He's 13. He survived the day; even cooked himself a bacon sandwich for lunch without burning the place down.

Oh, and if you want a cheap scarf fix, get thee to Primark. About £4 a pop, I think. Quantity not quality, that's my mantra where clothes are concerned.

I have a long weekend coming up - down to London today, and Monday off as well - using up all my endless leave that I didn't use in the year because holiday plans keep being thwarted!

Hi all. Up unfeasibly early again today. DS's early waking seemed to have been tamed by purchase of a gro-clock. However, it's only taken him a week to work out that in fact nothing bad happens if he gets up before the 'sun', so we seem to back to 6am wakings. Though he does claim it's because he's hungry. Maybe I'll leave a full English at the end of his bed.

Talking of food, crikey yesterday was tough. I was starving. Had a cuppa soup, and a miso soup, but they didn't really do much. Oddly, though, by about 5, I stopped feeling so hungry. Even so, my baked potato with a tin of beans and sausages was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten!

I seem to have lost two pounds since the weekend, which is pretty good going. No doubt some of this is water, and lack of food in the gut. Though, TMI alert, this lack of food is certainly slowing things down in the 'transit' department.

Ahh, not just me then! I was think of prunes yesterday ;)

Linseeds. A big spoonful with your breakfast and then I guarantee there will be no problems in the transit dept. Plus they are full of some sort of goodness that helps with peri-meno whatsits. GLAs or something.

Thanks again for all the lovely birthday wishes. I had a special b-day treat at circuits yesterday: 100 extra punches and 20 press-ups whilst everybody else sang Happy Birthday. Lovely.

I have heard good things about linseed too, for hormones, will def get some to add to my stash of supplements to sure all ills. Not that I am a sucker for a snake oil salesman or anything...
