It had to be done.
Phew that feels better.
Over here crepeys. All very welcome (but only if you're crepey).

I will know the outcome of the interview this week, but fear it is a done deal for another candidate. I saw his name on the list and googled him when I got home. He has yards more experience than me - having done this job before somewhere else. He is much too senior for this job (he's a higher grade) and IMO shouldn't have been allowed to apply. There is absolutely no way I can compete with him. I think the hiring manager liked me though.

Yes to the first dress, MI. The second looks like an old lady's vest.

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/02/2013 06:55

Sorry about your neck and shoulder BD.

Blackduck · 13/02/2013 07:25

MrsS live in hope - maybe the panel will think the same as you, why is someone further up the scale going for the job?
I am really stiff, and hoping it doesn't get worse!

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/02/2013 07:29

Stiffness only good in a man. Grin

Yes, I did think that, but if that was the case, why interview him?

Actually Ruby someone suggested that last night - unfortunately I didn't get a name! (there is someone local who apparently is good)

Don't know MrsS - making up the numbers? I am sure they will have asked some pointed questions, and hopeful his answers weren't good ;)
When are you likely to hear?

bigTillyMint · 13/02/2013 09:56

Well fingers crossed MrsS. I wonder why he wanted a "step down"? Or could he be being pushed off his current post? Men talk themselves up, you knowWink

BD, I had a massage when my bf and I went for a spa day at Christmas. The masseuse was vicious and I was aching for a couple of days, but my neck definitely felt looser!

And who are the linseeds for, ruby?Grin

Stropperella · 13/02/2013 11:57

MrsS, that other candidate sounds a bit Hmm . Maybe the interview panel will think so too. Hope they realise that you and only you are the right person for that job. Grin

Ruby, giving up chocolate??? I am trying to give up moaning and griping. And to give myself the best chance of not feeling moany today, I have just made a chocolate cake so large I had to use a roasting tin. And I have made choc ganache to go on top. One of my better efforts, if I do say so myself. But then I have a couple of friends coming for coffee this afternoon and they are German and take their cakes very seriously, so am still not sure it will pass muster.

Now to get some actual paid work done..

Oh and BD - heat pack! One of those microwaveable jobbies. And try to keep moving (yes, I know, I know). Does your GP surgery have an in-house physio? Many do these days.

bigTillyMint · 13/02/2013 12:15

There are Germans in your county, Strops? Didn't realise it was so multi-culturalGrin

I need a heat pack too - it is fcuking freezing here at workAngry

motherinferior · 13/02/2013 12:22

I am wearing my Celtic Sheepskin dress wot I wore the other evening, fully aware that it is shapeless but WARM. (And a nice colour.) I shivered all damn evening yesterday.

No half-term jaunts for me Envy - I shall be propping up my desk as usual while the girls go to holiday club and DS enjoys a solid week of XBox amuses himself with meaningful tasks and enriching activities.

I was just thinking, as I lumbered up the stairs earlier on, I'm not sure my knees could cope with skiing any more. They actually make an audible creak. It's my birthday on Sunday (46! Firmly late-40s now) and I'm feeling particularly decrepit nowadays.

I haven't given up anything for Lent, though.

MrsS - you never know.....at least it went better than the last one.

bigTillyMint · 13/02/2013 13:48

You know, I don't think there are many crepeys who ski. I hardly know any women my age who do and I only do blues and the odd red as I don't like anything too scaryBlush
And I have terrrible knees with very loose ligaments (not helped by tearing a cruciate the first year i went skiing) so I am always petrified of doing myself any damage.

The DC think I am pathetic!

beachyhead · 13/02/2013 14:12

I have bought linseeds too Grin. They are for ds, for his digestion. I hope they don't have the other effect, he's only 11. Don't want to scare him...

BTM, you are Not Pathetic. My dc are thoroughly embarrassed when they see me trudging around the mountain with my big boots on. I must start packing, actually I need to 'unpack' all the things dh has helpfully thrown in a bag, as rather than make sure everyone has gloves and socks, he will have just thrown ALL the gloves and socks (singles included!) he could find into a bag and say, DONE!

But first must go to Tesco for horse!

Blackduck · 13/02/2013 14:18

As I am currently staving myself anyway I am not giving up anything ;)

Stropperella · 13/02/2013 16:30

Beware the Power of the Linseeds Grin

I reckon a small teaspoon a day is more than enough for beginners. Otherwise things could get ... messy.

Stropperella · 13/02/2013 16:31

I like cross-country skiing but not downhill, because it is too slidey and I don't like slidey.

Stropperella · 13/02/2013 16:32

Ps: CV, I think you'll find 46 only counts as mid-40s, you know. Grin

motherinferior · 13/02/2013 16:34

Rubes, I am going to add some v dark choc (Coop fair traded, 85 per cent, chocolatey goodness all round) to a veggie chilli on Friday.

bigTillyMint · 13/02/2013 16:38

H&B had a 2 4 1 on linseeds, so I thought I would give them a try.... Do you just sprinkle them on and crunch them as you go?

I do NOT like cross country as it is hard work compared to gliding downWink

And Beachy, as we are going with our friends and my friend does not do skiing at all, I will be accomanying her on jaunts to the cafes afternoon tramps in the snow!

Blackduck · 13/02/2013 18:33

After my early morning (3.00) tea drinking session I am knackered tonight and just want to go to bed.
I am also feeling stabby with regard to one of my staff and suspect I will have to grasp the nettle (hate confrontation, but she is doing my head in).....
Last day tomorrow then off for a week - hooray!!
