GetorfsaMotherfuckingMorrisMan · 05/12/2012 14:34

What kind of name is that - palazzo pant?

Pants to wear whilst swanning round your palace?

OliviaPeaceOnEarthMumsnet · 05/12/2012 14:38

But Caerlaverock there is a fair bit of fashion distance between a waterfall cardi and a tunic, non?

GwendolineMaryLacedwithBrandy · 05/12/2012 14:39

Yeah come on. I gave you my list of what, as an old, fat short area, I am not supposed to wear. So please tell me what I should be wearing because I'm fucked if I know.

GwendolineMaryLacedwithBrandy · 05/12/2012 14:40

Short arse ffs

GetorfsaMotherfuckingMorrisMan · 05/12/2012 14:45

lol at mumsnot

Olivia imo waterfall cardigans and tunic tops are best friends in Bon Marche the clothing world.

Fitted tops and decronstructed All Saints type jumpers stand in the corner and curl their lip and whisper about them.

GetorfsaMotherfuckingMorrisMan · 05/12/2012 14:46

IMO it's not about what your build is like. I am tall and slim and look like a wanker in a tunic.

lostconfusedwhatnext · 05/12/2012 14:49

Squishy - Dr Organic virgin olive oil cream. Very nice.

I am interested at the number of people saying "what are we supposed to wear?" as if they actually do as they are told by S&B. Do you all?

As I understand the OP, it is not saying "DO NOT WEAR TUNICS OR I WILL SEE YOU AND FIND YOU AND PUNISH YOU" more saying "Why do we keep telling EVERYONE to wear tunics? Do they really suit everyone? That much? Might some people look nicer in something else?"

LOL at "plethora" and the crisps.

Also, the people who are saying "but I can crawl around a play group in x, y, z" well yes I am sure you can but that doesn't mean it looks nice. Sometimes you just have to wear what you have to wear and it is not the most stylish you will ever look, but you are doing yourself NO FAVOURS if you expect everyone to tell you it is.

Exercise: how do you think this person feels about his outfit? What feedback, if any, would you give him?

Crikey
No hope for me then
Anna Wintour still not back then Xmas Wink

GetorfsaMotherfuckingMorrisMan · 05/12/2012 14:54

I don't listen to half of the recommendations spouted in S&B anyway. My favourite items of clothing at jeggings (yes!) and one of my daughter's old Jack Wills hoodies. And I was thrilled by a dress I bought from cunting Sainsbury's of all places.

I want to see pictures of the stylish ones, to see if they look as good as they think

HullyEastergully · 05/12/2012 14:59

Ah.

The Tunic needs defining.

For me a tunic is effectively a long jumper (winter) cooler thing (summer)

NOT an empire line SMOCK.

lostconfusedwhatnext · 05/12/2012 14:59

wewereherefirst - I know, right, why does anyone care what anyone on here says?

FunBagFreddie · 05/12/2012 15:04

Are they really that bad?

PerryCombover · 05/12/2012 15:05

Tunics are really maternity wear, non?
Ditto birkenstocks
ugg slippers (boots as they are otherwise known)
leggings...
they are okay if you are ready to pop but not otherwise

knee boots also look utterly daft now
over the knee are principal boyish which might be okay as it's panto season
biker boots and fly mid calf and knee boots are now mum boots

I don't think anyone wears these and thinks hawt I think they are hide me clothes

Themumsnot · 05/12/2012 15:07

Enough of the what not to wear. Some of us are standing here in our undies waiting to find out what we are allowed to wear. Or we will be forced to deploy the sequin short.

Djembe · 05/12/2012 15:08

Wear this:

Skinny jeans
Ankle boots
Vest or tee
Loose sweater on top
A scarf or 'statement necklace' if you want

Or

Jumper dress with opaque or woolly tights

And

No patterns

HullyEastergully · 05/12/2012 15:09

Why is a jumper that sits mid thigh maternity wear?

All jumpers used to be long a few years ago, then they made them bum length and now they are waist length which is fine if you are 18 and 6 stone, but not for most of us.

HullyEastergully · 05/12/2012 15:10

Ankle boots are discusting.

Agree no patterns.

Loose sweater how long?

FeuDeSnowyRussie · 05/12/2012 15:11

Apart from stripes. Surely Breton stripes are allowed? :(

Djembe · 05/12/2012 15:11

Sweater wide and not much below the waist.

HullyEastergully · 05/12/2012 15:12

Oh yeah, skinny jeans and a short wide sweater. How attractive on the not-thin of us.

Djembe · 05/12/2012 15:12

I think Breton only if wide-fitting and accompanied by a statement necklace and otherwise simple clothes.

FeuDeSnowyRussie · 05/12/2012 15:13

Djembe I like your list but did you forget normal, non-tunic, non-jumper dresses? They are allowed, right?

Djembe · 05/12/2012 15:13

S and B has a narrow entrance gate Hully
