Spuddy try straight leg, I live by them & flares (when wearing jeans), I'm a tall size 10 with an ample arse, quite curvy, I have skinnies but they look ludicrous unless I turn them up to make 7/8 style trews, which I do with my straight legs & then wear with an ankle boot.

Spuddybean · 05/12/2012 17:15

nope i still look like a parsip with straight leg jeans - or a turnip as my charming father said!

garlicbaubles · 05/12/2012 17:17

Just, I saw your new tunic/dress the other day and loved it Xmas Envy

See, I would have to wear it with leggings as I'm just too old to work the sexy thighs look, even in opaques ... and am too bothered about keeping my legs warm Blush

Spuddybean · 05/12/2012 17:18

denim also is so uncomfortable, my fanjo is so sore when i wear it! flannel 40s style kathryn hepburn trolleys for me. comfy and flattering.

Justreadthefuckingwords · 05/12/2012 17:27

With you there Spuddy, I have a tweed pair with turn-ups that I heart very much. With a pair of brogues, white shirt & red, red lips I always feel like a film-noir goddess.

BunnyLebowski · 05/12/2012 17:30

Oooh Spuddy they have some gorgeous Hepburn-esque 40's trousers on Vivien of Holloway.

If I wasn't virtually a leprechaun I'd snap em up Sad

PerryCombover · 05/12/2012 17:34

I think there are more options than blardy skinny, bootleg or leggings
If straight don't work try peg
Try v wide legged
Try rolled up chino
Try baggies

If they don't suit they don't suit

FunBagFreddie · 05/12/2012 17:34

I love my tweed wide leg turn ups. Currently searching for another pair.

Spuddybean · 05/12/2012 17:37

do they! I am struggling with my post preggo body. I am usually a pencil skirt/40s type look but it really is all about the waist. and mine hasn't sprung back yet :(

I getting married (rush) in Jan and just bought myself this dress www.coast-stores.com/breita-bandeau-maxi-dress/dresses/coast/fcp-product/2143420284 I am struggling with shoes. I thought a white satin bolero and pearls with long dark hair in waves - but i'm not sure. any advice gratefully recieved :)

HouseOfTinsel · 05/12/2012 17:38

Isn't tweed really difficult to make look un-frumpy though? I'm sure I'd just look like a butch riding instructor Sad

FunBagFreddie · 05/12/2012 17:43

Maybe tweed is a bit frumpy. Blush I like to wear my trousers with mary jane heels and a skinny fit jumper or a fitted top/blouse, especially a victorian style one. I want a pair of checked or tartan wide legged trousers at the moment. Good quality wool ones. I know it's not at all fashionable, but fuck it, I live in the country and I'm now officially eccentric.

I'm deeply sad, because I'm 35 and would love to be a steam punk.

Amblin · 05/12/2012 17:44

I like tweed trs for work. Nice shirt.

Spuddybean · 05/12/2012 17:45

i love tweed. retro pencil skirts with a high waist and thick waist band look great with a fitted shirt, seemed stockings and chunky heeled round toed ox blood courts.

FiercePanda · 05/12/2012 17:45

I love how scandalised fashionistas get when faced with women wearing comfortable clothes that they feel happy in, its hilarious. Of all the things to get stabby about, the sight of a woman daring to not conform to the boring as fuck trends surely should be way way way down the list, no?

Feed me your tears, fashion-types. I feast on your rage. Xmas Grin

HouseOfTinsel · 05/12/2012 17:46

Tweed's probably okay if your thighs are un-gargantuan. (I don't qualify.)

BunnyLebowski · 05/12/2012 17:48

Spuddy - start a thread in S&B and we'll help Smile

For a start your dress is beautiful!

I wouldn't put a white satin bolero with it though. For a winter wedding I'd go with a faux fur capelet or stole. The contrast of texture with the dress would be more vintagey and luxurious.

Spuddybean · 05/12/2012 17:49

Bunny Thank you so much, i am in love with these and may treat myself. in love

Spuddybean · 05/12/2012 17:50

Okay Bunny, i'm going to start one now. I expect to see your input!

noddyholder · 05/12/2012 17:51

Tweed very sexy and cool at the same time a hard thing to achieve. I wish I had somewhere to wear it esp skirt

BunnyLebowski · 05/12/2012 17:56

No probs Spud.

Just going to dinner, bath and bed the wee one but you'll see me later Grin

garlicbaubles · 05/12/2012 18:00

Maybe tweed is a bit frumpy - Are you mad? Have you not seen the Spring collections?

Tweed's never frumpy, imo, unless you're wearing it with a load of jumpers underneath. In which case you're a country matron and don't give a fuck what people wear :)

FunBagFreddie · 05/12/2012 18:12

I wear my tweed around the house and anywhere tbh. Every day can be a tweed day. Smile

Haven't seen the spring collections. I'm ploughing my pennies into rennovating my house, so I would only cry when I realise I cannot afford the lovely clothes. Sob.

Justreadthefuckingwords · 05/12/2012 18:14

Love the dress Spud, but yes, more fur stole then satin bolero. Shoes, depends how tall you are & how long the dress is on you.

Justreadthefuckingwords · 05/12/2012 18:16

& tweed?? Sexy, sexy, sexy.

Spuddybean · 05/12/2012 18:18

Thanks. I have started my own thread with a terrible spelling mistake so pop over and share your expertise - apologies for the hijack OP.
