Week five \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=2350&threadid=159192\here} We are now on Week SIX.

Rules are:

Be as happy as possible. The odd night of booze and chocolate is fine
It's not a diet, it's trying to eat healthily and well, eat fruit and veg
Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
Some exercise, walking is fine
Use sunscreen at ALL TIMES
Take your make up off before bed
Get enough sleep, aim to be in bed by 10, 10.30 every night
Use handcream and join the horned hoof club on their thread if you have vile feet

Suzywong is Harvey from Fit Club and will pop in every now and again to say Good Luck to You but in her absence: Good Luck To You.

And there's a new one starting next week so for anyone who wants to wait until then (that'll be me then since I have a busy social week) you're most welcome.

More exercise needed this week for me.
Have lost 10 lbs since the start of this (which has to be good and means I am doing something right.)
Good Luck everyone :)

yoyo · 03/04/2006 11:18

Well done Winnie. I had lost weight but in the ONE week that DH has been off work I have put the lot back on! Feel really fed up about it. He's at home for another couple of weeks so I really have to get a grip and not eat the stuff that he buys (a bit difficult when he does the cooking).

I am still drinking lots of water, creaming, etc so all is not lost.

suzywong · 03/04/2006 11:21

Good Luck To YOu

I am now down to the magical 69.9 kilos aka 11st and quite frankly the muscles on the back of my thighs are scaring me.

I have found that stuffing my face on whatever I fancy in the carb and fat department for breakfast and then no carbs after 5pm is working out very well, ALso drinking my 2 litres of water

SMUG

Hi Girls,
Can I join this as my week one and carry on for the next 6 weeks....

Have weight issues at the m,oment - every spring I loose SOME not all, and then on it goes again. I have 17 lbs to loose..and I need help to focus.

On a positive note I have drunk 1 ltr of water so far today, had yogurt and muslie for breakfast. Have ryvitas, low fat philly and salad planned for lunch and a walk around the block in my lunch break.

Have been body scrubbing and creaming for the last 2 weeks and my horned hoofs have improved

Had a weekend away with the girls - so no more said....and am now starting an alcohol free week - wish me luck!!

suzywong · 03/04/2006 11:33

Good Luck To you

But youalso need to do three lots of cardio-vascular exercise a week, for 30 minutes at least each time. It would be extra good if some of that was weight-bearing exercise.

Personally I collect exercise dvds so I can do them in the evening when the kids have gone to bed. With weights you do see results after 3 weeks, it's worth it

moondog · 03/04/2006 11:34

Oooooooh,check out our keepfit guru!!!!!
Shock
Move over Carole Caplin.

motherinferior · 03/04/2006 11:49

Can I just say once again, nonchalently, that I swam today's 60 lengths at SEVEN AM???

Which clearly strikes out last night's indiscretions with the praline mini-eggs.

Blackduck · 03/04/2006 11:50

well MI I'm impressed!!

WideWebWitch · 03/04/2006 11:56

I cannot even contemplate the idea of swimming 60 lengths (sure that's not a typo, you really sure?) at 7am or at any time really. You get a \link{http://www.jewelryexpert.com/catalog/graphics/Drusy-Gold-Star-1a.gif\gold star}

Ok I need to add exercise....I do swim sometimes!!, last wednesday eve to be precise!
MI - I am impressed with the 7am swim - now, I am not working tomorrow and can possibly go swimminf before dh goes to work....sounds a great idea until I wake up.....
RIGHT - I will do it!!

motherinferior · 03/04/2006 12:04

I should point out this is born out of many years of realising I couldn't face any sort of land-based exercise except Pilates. I can recommend acqua aerobics too.

Earlybird · 03/04/2006 12:05

Must get refocused, or am in danger of undoing all the good work of the past few weeks. Arrived in America 4 days ago, and will be here for just over 3 weeks. Need to think about how to:

keep up the exercise (people don't walk much here)
maintain healthy eating (in the land of fast food and all sort of different, tempting kinds of chocolate Grin)
must use sunscreen (well and truly spring here, and I caught the sun a bit on Saturday)
get enough sleep (difficult with jetlag, but managed to sleep until 4.30 AM this morning, so that's an improvement!)
Must book a pedicure, as everyone here is in sandals already!
Also must make an effort to drink more water.
No problems on being generally happy, staying off the booze or taking makeup off.

MI - me too...use to swim every day up until about 3 years ago (not at 7am though). I know I will so so struggle to get up tomorrow BUT as I'll have to come on here and face you hopefully ill move my lard carse out of bed and down to the gym!!

TaiTai · 03/04/2006 12:29

Blimey, I see what you mean WWW about SuzyWong being Harvey. SW, I was interested in what you said about seeing a difference in 3 wks when using weights. I have the Core Secrets DVDs and just got msyelf a set of adjustable dumbbells ("Olympic-style", which has given DH no end of amusement)so I can use them when doing the Advanced Core Secrets DVD. Do you approve? Smile

motherinferior · 03/04/2006 12:31

I have a question.

Does chocolate eaten in the run-up to Easter really count, if it is in seasonably approved form (including rabbits) and/or fair traded (which clearly makes it a Politically Imperative Act of Consumption)?

Also chocolate has Stuff in it which makes you happy. Not just sugar, Other Stuff. I remember reading about it, possibly in something written by me.

winnie · 03/04/2006 12:57

MI, I love your Politically Imperative Act of Consumption idea ... I may have to use that myself Grin

TaiTai · 03/04/2006 13:31

Plus there's dairy in chocolate, and as women we need dairy to prevent our aging bones from getting osteoporosis. I did read a quote from a nutritionist in a mag approving of someone eating ice cream becuase of the dairy. Pity that although RDA amounts are provided re dairy via milk and yoghurt consumption, the government doesn't recommend a daily allowance of calcium by chocolate.

suzywong · 03/04/2006 13:38

TaiTai, yes I approve, don't go beyond 3lb or 1.5kilos for the first 3 weeks though.

You will notice muscle tone in your arms pretty quickly

Moondog: shut your noise

TaiTai · 03/04/2006 13:53

Thanks SuzyWong. Er, I have already gone over 1.5 kilso (I presume you mean per dumbbell, not in total?) In total I'm lifting just over 7 kilos, and feel I could do more.

moondog · 03/04/2006 14:02

There is someone on the gym goers thread who claims to lift 30 kg...in each hand.

Righto.

suzywong · 03/04/2006 14:05

Bloody Nora Tai Tia!

you sound as thought you know what you're doing already

Callmemadam · 03/04/2006 20:24

Thanks for the badge WWW! Your last post about food reminded me of the Hungry Caterpillar viz: (in my case) on Sunday she ate one pain au chocolat, one pain au raisin, one sausage sandwich, one chicken in white wine and mushrooms, and 3 slices of polenta marmalade cake. One Monday she woke up with Good Intentions! Any more chapters from anyone?

ScummyMummy · 03/04/2006 20:43

This caterpillar has so far imbibed 1 big bowl of chicken pilaff (for breakfast), 3 coffees, 1 tea, 1 roasted tomato and avocado sandwich, 1 small bottle of freshly squeezed orange and raspberry juice, one massive portion of fruit salad, one lifesaver boiled sweet, 2 small lamb chops, 1.5 massive spoons of mashed potato and half of a broad bean and chorizo salad that would probably have fed 6 comfortably...

hmm NO water

winnie · 03/04/2006 20:53

This has not been the best start to a week.
Will try harder tomorrow Blush
Water intake and creaming still doing well just eating too much and getting no exercise!
