So Botox, what do I need to know?

Am nearly 38 and although haven't got any lines, was told that you had to have Botox before they started appearing? Is this right?

And what else do I need to know about it? Will it hurt? How often do you have to have it?

Thank you MC

I had fillers for my tear troughs and it was bloody marvellous.

sugarice · 25/09/2012 17:57

I have botox twice a year and I love it. I look rested and not totally wrinkle free, just softened. He does my bitch lines , around my eyes and forehead but I can still move it.

The two between your eyes that can make one look naggy, a friend described hers like that and it stuck.

SaraBellumHertz · 25/09/2012 18:36

I don't have lines but have Botox above my eyebrows to give a brow lift / eyes look bigger and wider, can still arch brows etc but looks great.

Virgil · 25/09/2012 18:40

I have Botox for the = lines I've had since the age of 15. It's fab and they go completely. I am going on Saturday having not had any for nine months. The lines have come back in the past month. I love Botox it's amazing. It's also very cheap for what it is. My doctor does it for £99 or £250 for five areas.

justbreathe · 25/09/2012 18:46

Have I stumbled into a parallel universe where people have time , money and the will to pay to remove lines they don't even have yet ? How did your life get so empty that you have time to dwell on such things ?

sugarice · 25/09/2012 18:52

justbreathe a little harsh from you. Wink. If you don't like the thread ignore it.

I love it Mine is 'worn off' atm and I am going monday and cannot wait! If you have no lines though its pointless

sugarice · 25/09/2012 19:01

Back2Two They will gradually fade in about a week to ten days if you botox, it's fab how it erases them, like a rubber Grin.

From a medicinal point of view Botox supposedly works well for Migraine sufferers too, an added bonus if you're afflicted by terrible headaches.

noddyholder · 25/09/2012 19:02

It only works for dynamic lines not sun damage or just sagginess.

Yes, I have to go and see an advisor before my next appointment to check I'm suitable to receive the treatment Hmm

Word of mouth is generally the best guide I found to getting a good Injector, how discreet you wish to be?

Virgil · 25/09/2012 20:44

I do have lines but my GP (who does my Botox) did advise me that in having the Botox it will prevent me from getting further lines (because my forehead is wrinkling up less). I think this is what you mean. I still wouldn't treat lines that aren't there at all though. Save your money until they start to appear.

cybbo · 25/09/2012 22:05

Virgil, yours is cheap! I pay £170 for 2 areas, thought that was okay

WhereMyMilk · 25/09/2012 22:23

Anyone recommend someone in Worcestershire/Birmingham?

Virgil · 25/09/2012 22:28

I think yours is cheap cybbo. Mine is 99 for one area but 250 for five

noddyholder · 25/09/2012 22:34

I have realised when it wears off nothing i do in terms of lotions and potions has any effect I just look knackered!

Virgil · 25/09/2012 22:37

Mine seems to suddenly wear off too. So one minute I look good and then I look in the mirror and it's scary again!

noddyholder · 25/09/2012 22:39

It is truly weird it happens to me like that I suddenly look like a witch. Conversely when i have it done now it works in 2-3 days not 10!

amigababy · 25/09/2012 22:44

I have high === lines, just one big one really, near my hair line, no 11's. I've had Botox x 3, over 2.5 years, @ £150 per visit. After 4 days, the large horizontal line vanishes for nearly 7-8 months, then it's back. It, and dying my hair, are the 2 things that I think make me look a bit younger than 45.
I hate the 24 hours after, as I feel very self conscious, and wonder why I have done it. Then after 4 days - I know why I did it. You have to stay upright, for the first 2-4 hours; not a time to do yoga or start weeding the garden!

Mewsical · 25/09/2012 22:46

No lines=no problem.

Botox paralyses the muscles which cause the lines..therefore why bother until they appear??

I have had it done BTW, it worked a little.

noddyholder · 25/09/2012 22:46

I have no 11s or crows feet but forehead terrible due to squinting from not wearing glasses enough vanity really. Strangely I like my glasses now contrary!
