So Botox, what do I need to know?

Am nearly 38 and although haven't got any lines, was told that you had to have Botox before they started appearing? Is this right?

And what else do I need to know about it? Will it hurt? How often do you have to have it?

Thank you MC

I changed my job and ... the 11s disappeared naturally...and then I had children.

PorkyandBess · 25/09/2012 22:54

It's not, imo, about trying to look younger.

It's that thing at about 40 where you start you look permanently cross and/or tired. Botox eliminates this and makes you look really fresh.

I am a real frowner, so as well as getting rid of my cross face and headaches, Botox makes me feel quite serene due to lack of perma-scowl.

I have just had it done for 2nd time (in a year). No-one has noticed, but I get loads of comments about my skin and 'you look really well' type of things.

Flojo1979 · 25/09/2012 22:55

Why what happens in the first 24 hrs? Is it noticeable?

PorkyandBess · 25/09/2012 22:58

No, not for about 3 or 4 days for me. You get a little mark, but that goes within about 15 minutes.

memphis83 · 25/09/2012 22:59

Im 29 and having it for my 30th on my '11' but mine is just one deep '1' I look constantly angry.
Has anyone heard of it for the wrinkles on your nose? I hate the way my nose crinkles up and I saw a US program where they gave botox to stop this but the woman my mum uses has never done it habe any of you seen or had this?

noddyholder · 25/09/2012 23:02

29 is too young! [green]

Virgil · 25/09/2012 23:03

I had Botox in two places to do my = last time and the doctor had a little bit left. He made me screw up my face and decide to put the last little bit at the top of my nose.

amigababy · 25/09/2012 23:06

nothing actually happens during the 24 hours after - it's just me, i get a bit paranoid that it'll go wrong and I'll look dreadful, so I don't sleep very well that night. Nothing ever has gone wrong, I need to chill out a bit...

BonnieBumble · 25/09/2012 23:06

So is twice a year enough for Botox? (II) lines.

noddyholder · 25/09/2012 23:06

I love the way you just wake up after a few days with a really rested look which is what every one thinks it is.no one has ever asked me if I,be had it even v close mates I had to tell they just thought I was looking well. It really is remarkable.

Flojo1979 · 25/09/2012 23:09

I've never had it, but after seeing this thread, I am seriously tempted.
How many times do they inject u to do 11? I'm a little worried it'll hurt!

I really need it. I always used to look young for my age. Regularly asked for ID until I was well into my 30s. Always had 11 lines, probably from the age of about 15. I'm 40 and I just look terrible now. I look like I'm on the warpath constantly, I reckon I look like I'm close to 50.

noddyholder · 25/09/2012 23:13

I pay 225 for one area but I went to someone v good and expensive because I have health condition and he knows my consultant and I felt safe! I think around 200 is average. It did rid me of migraines have never had enough and was plagued for over 20 yrs

PorkyandBess · 25/09/2012 23:14

It does not hurt a bit, but it makes a weird noise.

I have maybe 3 in the 11s.

noddyholder · 25/09/2012 23:14

Crunch!!

Gingerodgers · 25/09/2012 23:18

My appt is in 2hrs. Been getting it for4 yrs 4x a year, and I love it.

Mewsical · 25/09/2012 23:20

It hurts as much as you would imagine someone sticking a needle in you. Ever had a splinter that needs removing?...or do you epilate?
Really not that much.

Flojo1979 · 25/09/2012 23:25

Sticking a needle in I guess doesn't hurt much as its quick but do they push it thro really slowly like at the dentist? And does the actual liquid sting?

PorkyandBess · 25/09/2012 23:28

No, it's a tiny, short needle and they put it in quickly. No sting whatsoever.

noddyholder · 25/09/2012 23:30

It stings but is over so quickly really.

SaraBellumHertz · 26/09/2012 16:00

Needle is very very thin - barely feel it and definitely worth it

sugarice · 26/09/2012 16:05

I get stings especially at the spot under my eye at the top of my cheekbone, worth it though.

fresh · 26/09/2012 16:40

Had it done for the first time last week. Mine was done by a GP, she used the fine needle which diabetics use for insulin. Over very quickly although I could definitely feel the injection sites for a couple of days after. No marks after a couple of hours. I love it so far! Cost £190, with a follow up appt next week to check all ok. Apparently if it needs a bit more, or she needs to inject further up in case of too much eyebrow lift (not in my case) she does that for free.

ilovetoski · 27/09/2012 17:39

Can I ask how much eyebrow lift can be achieved ? Is it like similiar to when you left your eyebrows to look astonished ?
