Very expensive mum boots, non?

Is it just me, but they are just like the noughties horrors aren't they?

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/08/2012 18:06

Oh wash your mouth out Pippi.

PippiLongShocking · 20/08/2012 18:08

They so are, if they were from Next everyone would be saying that they were frumpsville. The worse case of Emperors new clothes I've seen in a long while.

OP posts:
PippiLongShocking · 20/08/2012 18:11

compare and contrast

DanGleebals · 20/08/2012 18:14

Maybe if you wear them with too short, faded jeans then they could potentially look naff. But if you wear them with skinnies or dresses with opaques they will look BEAUTIFUL I've got the Topshop rip offs and this is how I imagine myself looking Wink

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/08/2012 18:14

Oh sorry Pippi - can you not see very well - is that the problem? Wink

I have black pistols and love them but you know I wear them with skinnies rather than bootcut jeans that end on my ankle.

louloutheshamed · 20/08/2012 18:15

Yes I was reading about them in Lauren lavernes column at the weekend, which I didn't understand at all by the way- something about umami flavour in clothes??

But I did think mum boots.

But you probably are not supposed to wear them with ankle flapper boot cuts.

yellowraincoat · 20/08/2012 18:16

Agreed OP, they are the fug.

It's the horrible toe shape.

LynetteScavo · 20/08/2012 18:16

The ones in the OP are almost nice. I can see Angelina wearing them. The ones from next are just nasty.

PippiLongShocking · 20/08/2012 18:17

At best they are one of those fashions you can only wear in an ironic way when you are 19 and have the legs of a gazelle. they are so mum boots, and £350!

OP posts:
Whitershadeofpale · 20/08/2012 18:19

I agree mum boots.

Viperidae · 20/08/2012 18:19

I agree, Mum boots are coming back, I will be seen as a trendsetter and you will all wish you had my style Grin

DonaAna · 20/08/2012 18:19

I think people who are after the newest it boot have moved on long ago.

I'm not sure why mum boots is such a bad thing. Most of us wear clothes to fit in - very few of us are truly individual, visionary dressers.

Wear whatever suits your frame, lifestyle and personal preferences. If that happens to be what the high street offers at the moment, you should be happy: you have lots to choose from. If it's vintagey / experimental / avant garde, you probably won't need anyone's advice. Most of us have committed some style crimes - surely wearing mum boots, Pistols is no worse that the frizzy perms and shoulder pads we all once had?

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/08/2012 18:21

I wasn't after an 'it' boot. But I do like them - they're a good heel height, go well with skinnies and of course I didn't pay full price.

And stop with the you can only wear them if you're 17 and a super-moggle.

PippiLongShocking · 20/08/2012 18:21

I think I'm going to stick with my knee highs and DM triumph boots this winter brushes off dust from noughties next black mum boots hidden in back of cupboard

OP posts:
MrsCampbellBlack · 20/08/2012 18:23

Knee-highs are back so you're on trend Pippi Wink

faustina · 20/08/2012 18:24

they are a million times nicer than the next boots, however, they are a bit everywhere, what with all the lookalikes available. same thing with those little suede ankle boots

If you don't mind the everywhere thing, I think they look fine with skinnies

crocodiletears · 20/08/2012 18:25

I agree OP. £350 on boots to make me look like I did going to Job interviews when I left Uni 12 years ago.

No thanks.

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/08/2012 18:25

Yes I think they're the best option with skinnies or any ankle boot really. I used to wear longer boots but unless they're pretty flat like then you risk looking like Liz MacDonald.

faustina · 20/08/2012 18:26

I do think Acne are taking the piss with their prices though. They never used to

PippiLongShocking · 20/08/2012 18:28

timeless style, me.

OP posts:
MrsCampbellBlack · 20/08/2012 18:28

Its like handbags Faustine - routinely over £1k for many 'designer' bags which is just too much.

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/08/2012 18:30

I wish some designer would make cool the lovely stretchy suede knee high boots favoured by La Middleton. I know they're so far away from being fashionable but lordy they made your legs look good and they always fitted your calves.

faustina · 20/08/2012 18:32

you're right MrsCB! Acne was fairly mid-range until quite recently - same as APC - they are both overpriced now

PippiLongShocking · 20/08/2012 18:35

I think La Redoute do the stretchy suede boots, does it have to be a designer name?

OP posts:
MrsCampbellBlack · 20/08/2012 18:39

No I just want them to be 'cool' again rather than 'ooh look at her trying to be kate middleton' without the hair, figure, height etc etc
