For everyone who wants to harp on about their new purchases, enjoys links and some chat. Here is to new beginnings!

OP posts:
MrsRyanLochte · 17/08/2012 13:59

hf most definitely I'd say.

Ants Nan sorry for your losses Thanks

DonaAna · 17/08/2012 14:02

Thanks Amber!
I think people are just enjoying watching a carwreck.
Normally it gets boring after a bit and the crowds go away.

I hear real claps of thunder from outside - waiting for the downpour. Am on the wrong side of the town, stylish as hell: toting a fug-ugly promo bag, butterfly wings for DD1, broken Fisher Price airplane for DD2, a heavy laptop, piles of paper, plus three pairs of shoes and a backpack for my trip. Am supposed to pick up the sushi: how? Party starts exactly 2 hours from now Confused)

Hope there is still a thread to get back to when I return Grin

DonaAna · 17/08/2012 14:03

Oh and Ants (((((hug)))))

These posts are someone's idea of a wind up - that's all I will say. And not someone who has ever been a regular I hasten to add.

I hope the keyboard gangsters are proud of themselves. The women I have met in real life from the thread (quite a few) have been without exception lovely, kind and really good fun. The support I have received from these people who I am privileged to call friends has been invaluable and these friendships will endure.

girlsofsummer · 17/08/2012 14:13

Im with Dona can totally see why this is amusing to people. I was like this Shock when I checked into the thread at lunchtime. There is a funny side to this I think and I know Alaska always enjoys a wind up so why not.

Its a bit soap opera. And that's entertaining for sure. I cant really cope with it all TBH it gives me a headache... for me (as demonstrated by recent namechange) is the privacy thing thats overwhelming.

Best wishes to all who I know through PMs, RL or otherwise... Grin

girlsofsummer · 17/08/2012 14:15

Ps that doesnt mean I find it amusing! Quite the opposite I find it a bit like and that is bad for my wrinkles.

AuldAlliance · 17/08/2012 14:16

May I delurk?
Have been an occasional lurker, when time allows it, and have loved the links and tips, the range of styles and the genuine kindness on here. A real haven of support and niceness in the brutal world of MN.
When regular posters mention personal things, I skip over them, just as I would close my ears to a private conversation I was at risk of overhearing in a public place.
I'm not in the UK and haven't lived there for almost 20yrs, so there is little to no chance of my knowing anyone on here, which may help.

To revert to more relevant matters, my favourite buy has been the Me&Em dress, though it's a little thick for the climate here. Looking forward to early autumn and wearing it.

DS1 is torturing DS2, clad in a dressing gown and snow boots in spite of 35° heatwave, wielding an electric keyboard and water pistol full of gravel. Better go.

rufus101 · 17/08/2012 14:19

Just ignore the trolls. As Dona says they will go away when they get bored. Responding is just adding to the flames.
Where is MNHQ when you need them? They should be deleting posts for a very good reason. Some of the posts are particularly hurtful as those of us who are old timers are very aware of. On an iPhone currently but if someone can report and get those posts deleted I would appreciate it.

mintgreentiger · 17/08/2012 14:22

oh dear, just came back to post about a couple of things I saw in banana republic (and say there is 30% off in baby gap if anyone is interested) but see that the thread has moved on. Bit perplexed why anyone would want to take time out of their life to target an internet forum and upset people they've never met and who have kept out of their business, to be honest.

Anyway. I think I lurked too long and when I was sort of ready to join it was all over! I have just entered the exciting world of pin so will have a look for some of you there (assume you're on your MN names).

AmberNectarine · 17/08/2012 14:23

Yes, trufax, rufus. I just find it a little sad that they don't have anything more interesting to focus on. Still we've made Twitter Wink

rufus101 · 17/08/2012 14:24

How do you mean Amber?

AmberNectarine · 17/08/2012 14:27

Someone is posting about the thread falling apart on twitter. Sad, really.

DonaAna · 17/08/2012 14:31

Please remove this.

rufus101 · 17/08/2012 14:31

Well. It will only fall apart if we permit that.
We were such a tight group, that trolls would have got short shrift. They are just feeding on the weakness.
Think about it. Despite being bitched about on other threads, no one came on to troll directly.
Ignore. Ignore. Ignore.
Trolls will lose interest when they are just talking amongst themselves.

MarshaBrady · 17/08/2012 14:31

Just ignore it. It will go away.

Will be in touch about the other thing gos and everyone, have been working today. Or trying to.

AbsofAwesomeness · 17/08/2012 14:32

NanAstley - it was started when one of the managers wore unusual shoes one Friday, and it has become a thing. It's spreading to other departments, and soon, the whole world hahahahaha

(actually, I hope not the whole world, as it is pretty tragic combing through your wardrobe on a Friday morning looking for "quirky" socks. Or worse - dressing normally and winning quirky Friday)

noddyholder · 17/08/2012 14:33

I hate the cross forum thing. I don't do any others but I had a message once from someone saying people were taking the piss out of my hair on twitter after i posted a pic on here for some thread or other about ageing! Nasty and unbelievable really

mintgreentiger · 17/08/2012 14:39

these links take forever! i have added this in greywith these beads to my AW workwear wishlist

Napoleon66 · 17/08/2012 14:53

Thanks for the friendly welcome on the last thread. Name-changed as old name was almost my initals!

I do not want this thread to end and I'll admit that as well as the style stuff, I like the snipits of your lives. I can't understand all the sudden nastiness.

About me: living in Spain for the last 4yrs, I'm 45/feel 27, I'm not a mum, I'm an aunty, I'm in my last year of a 5yr debt-repayment plan - probably why i enjoy reading about other peoples purchases! I love the links and agree this thread is far more useful than monthly magazines. I don't shop a lot given my circumstances but in the last year have started shopping wisely and more confidently especially since having had my colours done (Winter).

Have a fab weekend all...tomorrow's supposed to be +40º here!!

girlsofsummer · 17/08/2012 14:54

thats awful Noddy I would be so upset at that - hence my privacy obsession.

noddyholder · 17/08/2012 14:57

Grin I am pretty tough I just thought it was childish and a bit too faced

noddyholder · 17/08/2012 14:57

two even!

girlsofsummer · 17/08/2012 15:06

People are very brave when they think they are not identifiable!! Childish for sure.
